Chapter 2
This was not the first time Jerrold had played the role of a peacemaker to resolve conflicts.
But he secretly instigated every conflict.
He imitated my handwriting to write the love letter, and then deliberately "accidentally" let it fall into Katharine's hands.
Unfortunately, he kept a distance from Katharine, making her mistakenly think that Jerrold liked her. She regarded every girl who approached him as a rival in love.
Jerrold was really good at pretending!
Katharine looked at me coldly, "You really dare not?"
I glanced at her and didn't say anything.
I don't want to talk with her!
My classmates were pointing at me.
"Is Marilyn blind? Jerrold doesn't like her at all, okay?"
"She thinks that by writing more love letters, Jerrold will be moved by her? How childish!"
"It's not childish, it's shameless!"
"She's like a shit, making our whole class a mess!"
"So disgusting!"
They were getting more and more offensive, but I didn't memory it at all. I took an empty cup and went to the water room to get water, passing by Katharine.
I heard Jerrold's voice from behind.
"I will take everyone to Disneyland this weekend, with one ticket per person. Since you don't like Marilyn, I won't invite her."
The cheers were deafening.
"Through tickets. I heard those are very expensive! Jerrold, you are so generous, you are too good to us!"
"Jerrold, we love you so much!"
"Jerrold, you are the pride of our entire class!"
I couldn't stop my footsteps and couldn't help but chuckle.
In the second year of high school, Jerrold's mother brought Jerrold to my house to apply for the position of a nanny.
They were dressed in tattered clothes. Jerrold's mother sobbed and said that her husband was lazy and abusive. Their eldest son gambled every day. They even sold their ancestral land and were heavily in debt.
She had to bring her son Jerrold to the city to make a living with no other choice. She had not received much education and could only work as a nanny. But people refused to hire her when they saw that she had a son with her.
My parents were kind and immediately took in the mother and son. They also arranged for Jerrold to transfer to the prestigious high school I attended and be in the same class as me.
My parents felt sorry for him when they saw Jerrold doing his homework every night on the small window sill in the servant's room. So they let him move to the spacious and bright guest room and bought him a super large writing desk.
At first, Jerrold was cautious in everything he did, afraid of doing something wrong and making us angry.
Over time, he gradually changed.
The inherent evil nature of human beings is fully manifested in him.
My parents arranged a driver to take me to and from school, but I chose to get off early and walk to school every day.
After Jerrold and I went to school together, he always tried to find topics to chat with me. I didn't want to pay attention to him, so I decided to ride a bicycle to school instead.
I thought Jerrold would be too embarrassed to go to school by Bentley. But he was quite unceremonious. He acted like a young master and even instructed the driver to park the car directly at the school gate as if he was afraid that his classmates wouldn't see it.
It was my dad's birthday that day, and my dad specifically instructed the driver to pick me up and take me directly to the restaurant.
Jerrold didn't know that, after school, he walked towards the Bentley parked on the side of the road, under the envious gaze of his classmates.
I stopped him and said coldly, "Don't take the bus today. It's my dad's birthday, and the driver will take me. You can take a taxi back!"
Jerrold hadn't spoken yet, and his classmates gathered around to start discussing.
"What? Marilyn's face is too thick. Is this Jerrold's car?"
"Is it possible to show off like this? It's really rare!"
"Jerrold is also too easy-going. If it were me, I would scold her!"
Chapter 3
Jerrold pretended to be a gentleman and made a "please" gesture.
"If you want to ride, let's go together!"
I raised my eyebrows at him, "Together?"
What a joke!
This is my family's car, okay?
"Jerrold, I just said it, take a taxi back!"
Jerrold hesitated for a moment, sighed helplessly, and said, "It's your father's birthday, of course, I have to go too. Do you hate me so much? You don't even want to ride in the same car with me?"
"I don't want to!"
I won't give him face.
His face didn't look good, and he was speechless for a while.
At this moment, Katharine angrily pushed through the crowd and stood in front of me.
"Marilyn, are you crazy? It's already outrageous enough that you took over Jerrold's car. Now you even don't let him sit! Who do you think you are? Let me tell you, I can't stand you bullying Jerrold. If you continue to pester him, I won't let it go with you!"
Trying to show off as a beauty saving a hero?
I won't give her this opportunity!
"Are you sure this car belongs to Jerrold?"
With just one sentence, Jerrold's face instantly changed.
If I really exposed him, this fake rich second-generation won't be able to keep up anymore.
He opened the car door and grabbed my arm to push me up.
The difference in strength between men and women was too great, and I couldn't resist his brute force at all.
"The car is yours, let's go!"
He glared at me fiercely, gesturing for me to shut up.
Even the driver couldn't stand it anymore, "Jerrold, why are you so rude to Miss Huff?"
Katharine overheard this and immediately laughed sarcastically, "Oh, I wonder why you're so domineering. It turns out you're quite familiar with this driver!"
Her tone was very ambiguous, immediately causing a burst of teasing from her classmates.
"Chasing after Jerrold while flirting with the driver at the same time, impressive!"
"Do you really think you're so charming that you can win over anyone?"
Seeing that the direction of their discussion was getting more and more distorted, the driver couldn't help but explain, "Don't talk nonsense, I am Miss Huff's driver, Jerrold is just..."
Jerrold interrupted before I finished speaking, "No one believes what you say!"
The driver didn't believe it and was about to explain, but his phone rang.
It was my dad calling.
Just as he answered the phone, Katharine stood next to Jerrold and said softly, "You are too tolerant. Marilyn has already crossed the line, and you are still so polite to her!"
"After all, she is a girl and cares about her face."
"But it also depends on her worth. You are too kind, so I will deal with her for you in the future! I have seen many people like her who take advantage of others' kindness and always push the boundaries!"
She glared at me fiercely, and other classmates echoed.
"Marilyn, you can go today, but you are not allowed to harass Jerrold anymore. Otherwise, I will make sure you regret it!"
