Chapter 2

After half a month of recuperation, I finally left the hospital, and my name had been changed to Deanna Cohen.
Also under my urging, my parents changed Ashley's name to Carol Dawson.
Because I was crying and saying I was hungry at the time, my dad was in a hurry and didn't pay much attention.
Carol knew that she couldn't make a fuss, and even joked with a smile, "I am indeed quite redundant."
My mom sympathized instantly and wanted my dad to change it back.
I pulled my mom and said, "Mom, this name is really beautiful. It fits her very much."
After hearing my explanation, my mom instantly felt that the implication was fine.
Carol failed to sell his misery again, and his eyes looked poisonous.
I secretly laughed. Was this little bit of suffering enough to reveal her true nature?

After all, the college entrance examination was only a few months away, and I would be entering school after a good rest.
My mom originally wanted me to be a day student. But she thought that it would be too time-consuming to travel back and forth, so I decided to live on campus.
My dad said that as long as I wanted it, he would fulfill it, and all the procedures and supplies were well prepared.
The Cohen family suddenly got a new daughter, which was explosive news in this boring high school life.
So, when I went to the school, I could feel those scrutinizing and resentful glances.
My gaze fixed on the boy by the window.
The sunlight shone through the window, casting a youthful glow on his clean face.
Unfortunately, he was totally bad.
Carol sitting behind him lowered her head at this moment, looking like she was completely absorbed in reading the classics and oblivious to the outside world.
What a pair of jackals and wolves.
The teacher briefly explained my situation and asked me to find a place to sit.
I looked around and saw that there was only one empty seat left in the last row, next to that boy.
Without hesitation, I sat in the last row as well. After all, I had a grudge to settle, and I had to go to college.
So, I needed a quiet environment.
Just as I sat down, a sigh came from somewhere.
Reflexively, I looked at Carol. Perhaps she didn't expect me to look at her. Although her gloating expression was fleeting, I still caught it.
"This cannot seat a person," said Henric.
"Because you occupy a large area?"
I sat down casually after asking a question, and Henric looked at me with a particularly complex expression.
As a "poor student", Henric had the privilege of having a dedicated seat, and no one had the option to sit with him.
So, he never thought about why there couldn't be a desk mate, it was just a convention.
At this moment, the class began, but I was too lazy to look at his reaction and focused on listening to the class.
Henric unexpectedly didn't cause trouble for the first time.
After class, Carol walked over. I thought she was looking for me. After all, in my previous life, she was very attentive and caring towards me.
But she didn't expect that she went straight to find Henric.
"Sorry, my sister is new here and doesn't know the rules of the class. I'll take her away."
Henric was originally lying on the table and sleeping, but he didn't even move when he heard her voice.
It seemed that Carol was trying to ease the embarrassment and quickly pulled my arm.
"This seat is not for sitting, you'd better come with me."
I followed her finger and saw the boy standing up and smiling at me.
Carol saw that I was looking over there and quickly said, "That's Jack, he studies very well. You can sit there and I can take care of you."
After saying that, Carol started to pack my things, and Jack also came over and greeted me.
I shook off Carol's hand and said, "I think it's fine. Why should I sit with an ugly weirdo?"
Jack's smiling face instantly froze, and Carol was also stunned.
"Also, we are not sisters. My mom only gave birth to me."
Then came a hearty laughter.
"Hahaha, from now on, what's your name?"
Henric suddenly looked at me with a sincere face and asked, "Deanna Cohen."
"Great! From now on, this will be Deanna's seat. Let's see who dares to make her move!"
After that day, rumors spread in our class that I was bullying others.
Of course, I knew who was behind it. After Carol listened to what I said, she performed another act of pretending to be sad.
Jack looked at me as if he wanted to eat me, but he didn't go to coax Carol, but sat back.
I thought he gave up, but I didn't expect him to still have a trick up his sleeve.
Soon, the mock exam before the college entrance examination came, but I was in a mess during the two days of the exam.

The dormitory was a four-person room, and Carol volunteered to take care of me and took me to her room.
It was my turn to be on duty in the dormitory on the day of the exam, so I got up early to tidy up.
However, the two people in the dormitory were not in a hurry. I had just finished mopping the floor when one of them, Iris, knocked over a box of loose powder.
"Oops, I'm sorry. Deanna, I didn't mean to. I'm going to be late, can you clean up for me?"
I looked at Iris' gloating look and said, "No need to apologize."
When Iris heard this, she pretended to be affectionate and came over to try to pull my arm.
I dodged her hand in time and said, "The school has repeatedly emphasized that cosmetics are not allowed to be brought into the school. So it's not just a matter of deducting points if you can't clean up properly. You might have to go home and reflect on it."
After saying that, I picked up my phone and took a picture of my tidy dormitory.
"By the way, my mom is afraid that I won't adapt to school. So she specially applied for me to bring my phone. Just turn it off during class. So, if there is a problem with me, this photo will be sent."
Iris hurriedly threw away the loose powder packaging in her hand.
"Oops, I threw it too late. It's already in the picture."
After saying that, I hurried to the classroom with my things.
According to the timetable, we could go to the exam room after we finished self-study and had dinner.
Because the school wanted us to adapt to the atmosphere of the college entrance examination, the mock exams were assigned to the exam rooms according to the rankings.
And as a newcomer, I naturally got assigned to the last exam room.
I saw Carol when I went in. She wanted to greet me, but I instinctively passed her and looked for my seat.
As Carol walked towards me, I was thinking about how to avoid her disgusting me, but then I heard a voice.
"I didn't have breakfast this morning. Is there anything to eat?"
I looked up and saw Henric looking at me with a smirk on his face.
Before I could speak, Carol spoke up, "I have something here. What do you want to eat?"
Seeing her being so attentive, I didn't feel like talking and continued to carry the documents in my hand.
"Hey! I'm asking you!"
Henric poked me.
I angrily threw the cookies from my bag at him.
"Just this, eat it or not."
Carol once again returned to his seat, feeling defeated.
The exam went smoothly, except that I had a stomachache the whole time.
For the last exam, I just went to the restroom, but someone blocked the door.
When I stood up due to diarrhea, there was no sound around me.
I hurriedly pushed the door, trying to run back to the exam room, but I found that I couldn't open it.
I shouted, hoping someone would hear me and open the door for me.
However, I immediately heard the bell for the start of the exam.
I tried to climb up and crawl out through the gap above, but there was no support point.
I had no choice but to continue shouting and banging on the restroom door.
The wooden door couldn't make much noise.
I looked at my watch and saw that it was almost fifteen minutes, but then I heard someone calling my name.
"Deanna, where are you?"

"I'm here! Help me! Could you help me move the things blocking the door?"
I heard the voice and quickly asked for help.
"Wait for me to call someone."
"It's too late, they're about to stop students from entering. Could you please help me?"
This was my determination. I didn't want to let Carol succeed in the first exam!
The person outside the door seemed hesitant, after all, the voice sounded like a boy.
Finally, a voice came from outside the door.
"Is anyone there? If no one is here, I can go in."
Immediately, the door was opened.
When I saw that it was Henric, his flushed face clearly told me how embarrassed he was.
But without thinking too much, I quickly grabbed him and ran towards the examination room.
Fortunately, we arrived at the classroom at the last minute.
I still felt uncomfortable in my stomach when writing the answers, and even kept sweating.
Maybe it was because I ran too hastily just now, but I even felt a little short of breath.
In this way, I didn't know how long I persisted. It seemed that I had done half of the questions, and then I fainted with a blackout.
