Chapter 1

I just got home and heard a baby crying in the bedroom.

I wondered and quickened my pace to the door of my bedroom.

I saw Vincent Reed and Pamela Reed, the parents of my husband, Zach Reed, standing by the bed, the baby boy in Pamela's arms crying loudly.

A baby girl was lying on the bed, looking at the crying child in Pamela's arms with tears in her eyes.

Vincent and Pamela were frantically trying to comfort the two babies. Pamela looked up and saw me standing at the bedroom door.

She urged me, "Taylor, what are you standing there for? Bring me the diaper from the cabinet!"

I didn't react for a moment and hurriedly handed the diaper to Pamela.

But Pamela didn't take it over. She pulled the baby and yelled at me, "Open it!"

I could hear the babies' heart-wrenching cry, and I opened the diaper with a frown.

Pamela held the baby boy and asked me to take off his diaper.

I had no experience in parenting and didn't like children. I had no good feelings towards these two babies of unknown origin, let alone changing their diapers.

So, I took a step back and handed the diaper to Vincent.

"Vincent, please give Pamela a hand."

I then pushed Vincent in front of Pamela. He wanted to refuse, but the baby in Pamela's arms was struggling uncomfortably.

Vincent looked disgusted and almost pinched his nose as he changed the diaper, then rushed to the bathroom to wash his hands.

Pamela glared at me unhappily.

I was puzzled. "Who these two babies are? Why did you bring them home?"

Pamela was coaxing the babies to sleep softly and winked at me to be quiet.

After the two babies fell asleep, she asked Vincent to go in and look after them. Then, she walked to the living room and pulled me over to sit on the sofa.

She asked me in a friendly manner, "Taylor, are these two babies cute?"

I hated children, especially when they cried, which made my temples almost explode.

Faced with the extension of Pamela's expectations, I could only nod.

Pamela breathed a sigh of relief. "As long as you like them."

I immediately felt something was wrong and raised my voice. "What do you mean? Where did these two babies come from?"

Before I could finish my words, Pamela slapped her thigh and put her index finger on her mouth.

"Shh! Keep your voice down. I just put them to sleep!

"They are the babies born to your brother in the countryside."

My heart skipped a beat, and I immediately had a bad feeling.

Pamela happily pulled my hand and said, "Aren't you doing that thing? Double income, and what?"

I frowned and added, "No kids."

"Yes. Don't you want no kids because you're afraid of having them?

"Now that your brother has given birth to two babies for you, you can raise them so that you will have someone to rely on when you are old."

Pamela held my hand and looked like she was concerned about me.

I snorted coldly, thinking it was ridiculous.

"Pamela, when I first married Zach, I said we wouldn't have children, and you all agreed."

If I had known this would happen, I wouldn't marry Zach.

Pamela advised me earnestly, "Oh, you are still too young. What will you do when you are old without children?"

I immediately asked back, "So do I have to raise someone else's kids and be the scapegoat?"

"What are you talking about? That's your brother's kids. We're all family. How can you say you're a scapegoat?"

Pamela was actually a little unhappy.

"These two babies should go back to where they came from. I have no obligation to raise them. If you like them, take them back to your hometown and raise them yourself."

With that, I ignored Pamela's gloomy face and walked straight to my bedroom.

When I got to the door, I remembered that the babies and Vincent were still inside, so I turned back to Pamela.

"I'm going to bed after I take a shower. Don't put the babies in my bedroom."

Chapter 2

The sound of splashing water blurred the surrounding sounds. I turned off the shower and just squeezed a pump of shower gel when I heard Pamela's cry.

"Zach, come back now. Your wife is such a bully!"

Pamela thought I couldn't hear it because I was taking a shower and even turned on the speaker.

"She pushed even something as simple as changing diapers onto your dad. How can your dad touch the dirty diapers? It will bring bad luck to our family!"

I was speechless.

Zach's parents were both poorly educated and worked everywhere to support Zach. Fortunately, Zach had been admitted to a good university and gotten a decent job.

When we fell in love, Zach often told me how difficult his mother's life had been, and I couldn't help but feel sympathy for her.

When I first went to Zach's house, there were four of us, including me, and we had only two dishes and one soup. One of the meat dishes was packed from the wedding banquet at Zach's uncle's house a few days ago.

I hadn't taken it seriously at the time. After all, Zach's parents looked honest and had vowed not to interfere in our married life.

Unexpectedly, not long after we got married, Vincent had said that he was not in good health and wanted to move in with us. And he had stayed here for more than half a year.

Both Zach and I were busy with work. I just took my annual leave and wanted to go out and relax with Zach, but he ended up being sent on a business trip.

Outside the room, Pamela kept complaining, either saying that I didn't take care of Vincent or that I treated her badly.

It was not the first or second time that Pamela had tried to sow discord between us, but Zach had never told me about it, so I didn't take it to heart.

I couldn't hear how Zach answered, but Pamela seemed very happy and was singing after hanging up the phone.

I dried myself and blew my hair dry. Then, I changed into home clothes and walked towards the bedroom, preparing to call Zach on the video to ask him what was going on.

But just as I opened the bedroom door, the scene in front of me almost made me black out.

Vincent was holding the baby boy, who was still spitting out milk from his mouth, and there were milk stains on the bed.

The baby girl seemed to have diarrhea, and the bed sheet was dirty and smelled terrible.

"Didn't I tell you to take them out of my room?"

Pamela yelled, "Why are you yelling? My son bought this house. Can't I let them sleep here?"

I almost couldn't catch my breath.

I had bought this house before I got married!

When we had gotten married, Zach had been short of money, and his family didn't have much savings, so we had only used my house as the wedding house.

To make his parents feel at ease, Zach had asked me to tell them that he had bought the house with the money he had earned.

They had moved in with such complacency not long after we got married. They really treated my house as their own home.

I took a deep breath and took out the property certificate from the cabinet.

"Look at it. I bought this house before I got married, and it's in my name!"

Pamela looked impatient. Vincent took the property certificate, opened it, and took a look. Then, his expression changed slightly. Pamela leaned forward to take a look and immediately frowned tightly.

"Why is your name on this property certificate?"

I almost laughed out of anger. "I bought this house. If it's not in my name, will it be in your name?"

"How can you, a girl, have so much money to buy a house? I'm curious about how you got the money."

If it weren't for Zach, I really wanted to slap her.

"You heard it, Zach. You know now how sarcastic your mother usually speaks."

Just as I opened the bedroom door and saw Vincent and Pamela still inside, I knew things were going to be troublesome. So, I called Zach in advance.

I had expressed many times before that it was inconvenient for Vincent and Pamela to live here. But Zach always made excuses to get away with it. Now that Vincent and Pamela knew that this was the house I had bought, they wouldn't dare to stay here.

I hung up the phone and walked over to pull the bed sheet.

"Hey, the baby girl is still lying there."

Pamela held the baby boy in one hand and pulled the bed sheet with the other.

"Then why don't you take her away?"

Seeing that I was serious, Pamela had no choice but to hand the baby boy to Vincent and pick up the baby girl.

As for why Pamela didn't let Vincent pick up the baby girl, it was, of course, because the baby girl had diarrhea, and Pamela was afraid of dirtying Vincent's hands.

Seeing the baby girl being picked up, I pulled the quilt over and took a look. The stain had already seeped in and could not be washed out.

I simply threw the sheet and quilt to the ground and checked the mattress carefully. Fortunately, the mattress was clean.

"Why do you throw this quilt to the ground?"

Pamela squatted and rubbed the quilt with her hands, looking like she felt very sorry for it.

"I don't want it."

Pamela yelled, "What? This is a silk quilt! How dare you?"

"Since you know it is a silk quilt, why did you just put a baby without a diaper on it?"

When I was changing diapers just now, I noticed that the baby boy was wearing a diaper while the baby girl was just wrapped in thick cloth.

Pamela was about to say something, but Vincent coughed.

"Whatever!"

Then, Vincent asked Pamela to leave my bedroom and slammed the door shut when they left, scaring the babies into tears again.

The two were busy at the door again.

After finally changing the sheet and quilt, I opened my phone and saw several missed calls from Zach. I directly made a video call, and Zach answered within seconds.

"Honey, don't be angry. I didn't expect my mother to take them over directly."

I thought it was a little ridiculous. "So has your mother discussed this with you before?"

Zach looked embarrassed and hesitated for a moment before speaking.

"My brother is short of money and can't afford to support these two kids."

Seeing my expression change, Zach quickly said, "They'll just stay at our house for a few months and then go back to the countryside with my parents.

"You know, my parents love children very much. Although they didn't complain when you wanted to be a DINK, they still wanted to have grandchildren."

I immediately got angry at his words.

"Zach, we both agreed on the DINK policy. It was not my idea alone."

Although I was a DINK, I would rather not get married if I hadn't agreed with Zach at the beginning.

"Are you blaming me for not wanting to have children now?"

"Honey, don't be angry. I just said that. My dad is not in good health and won't live alive for a few more years. Let him live with the kids in our house for a few months.

"I got a raise recently. You can use my card anytime you want!"

Zach said a lot of nice things. If I kept arguing, it would seem like I was really immature.

"Three months at most."

"Okay, honey. When my business trip is over this month, let's go on vacation. Out of sight, out of mind."

After hanging up the phone, I rubbed my temples. The kids' crying gave me a headache, and I didn't recover yet.

At that moment, there was a hurried knock on the door.

Before I even walked out of my bedroom, Pamela rushed over and opened the door.

"You're here so soon!"

There was a couple at the door. The man was dressed simply with patches on his clothes. But he looked a little fierce.

The woman was dressed fashionably, with a shrewd look on her face. She kept looking around my house.

I found that they were Zach's brother, Jacob Reed, and his wife, Mandy Reed!

"Oh, you didn't even tell me you were coming."

I put on a polite smile and walked up to Mandy. I took her hand and pulled her to sit on the sofa.

I had only met Jacob and Mandy when I just got married to Zach, and we didn't have much contact after that.

I didn't even know when the kids were born.

"Didn't Pamela bring Tiger and Nina here? Jacob and I were worried, so we came to check on them."
