The moment Kallie’s phone buzzed with a call from her husband, Nick, the man behind her flipped her over.
She was on her knees on the bed of a hotel suite overlooking Central Park, and he thrust into her from behind, the force so brutal it nearly sent her face-first into the floor-to-ceiling window.
He caught her by the waist just in time, pulling her back. This man, Noah, was the picture of a gentleman scholar in his day-to-day life, but in bed, he was feral.
Kallie braced one hand against the cool glass, the other swiping to answer the phone. The caller ID read: “My Dearest.”
“Whose call?” the man behind her grunted.
“Your cousin’s,” she said.
He scoffed. “Shouldn’t he be busy with Marla right now? Why the hell is he calling you?”
“How should I know?”
“You gonna answer?”
“Of course,” Kallie muttered. “Noah, could you… go a little easier?”
He didn’t. In fact, he slammed into her harder. So when Kallie answered the phone, her voice quavered in time with the rhythmic thrusts. “Hello?”
“What are you doing?” Nick asked.
“Can’t you tell?”
He paused. “Working out?”
“No. Getting fucked.”
“With who?”
“Why don’t you come see for yourself?” she shot back.
“Where are you?”
“The room next door.”
A long silence stretched from Nick’s end. Kallie listened to his breathing, a vicious sense of satisfaction bloomed in her chest as his breaths grew heavier.
They had dated for ten years and been married for five.
If he could parade a string of women around without a second thought for her feelings, then so could she. This rotten world was just a race to see who could be more shameless.
“Are you coming?” Kallie taunted, a fresh wave of vengeance rising with every word.
“I’m right next door. I’ll give you a front-row seat. No charge. Oh, and you might be surprised to see who I’m with.”
She didn’t know if her words got to Nick, but they certainly got to Noah. He picked up his pace, driving into her with relentless force. She glanced back, frowning. “Softer. That hurts.”
He grinned. “Just helping you put on a show.”
He was right. She wanted Nick to hear everything. The clearer, the better.
Finally, Nick spoke. “Kallie.”
“Hmm?”
“Are you inviting me to join?” he asked with a cold laugh. “Should I bring Marla? The four of us could have a real party at the Hamptons house. It’ll be much more exciting.”
