Chapter 2

After Henry fell asleep, I quietly took his cell phone and sneaked back to the living room.

The password to unlock his cell phone was still the same as the day we got together. He used the date as the password.

During the four years of forced separation in different universities, I had always trusted him wholeheartedly. I never checked his cell phone when we were together.

"I think checking on someone's cell phone signifies the beginning of being distant from each other."

"It is probably as a response to my trust. Henry didn't delete or hide anything. Everything was there without any concealment."

Judging from how he had nicknamed the girl's WhatsApp account, I could feel his affection for her.

The nickname of the girl's WhatsApp was Libby Candy.

And below her account was mine, which read, [Lucy Sweetheart.]

Seeing such consistency, I couldn't help but sneer.

Soon, I was sad. I took a deep breath and clicked into a chat box as if I were going to die.

The girl's name was Libby Shawn. She was 21 years old and currently studying at a university. She, who was young, was invincible.

Their chat records were filled with her enthusiasm and courage.

She knew about my existence and that my wedding date with Henry was approaching.

So, Libby made a desperate move and proposed to take a set of wedding photos with Henry. She said, [I want to be the first woman to take wedding photos with you. When you take wedding photos with her, you will think of me. You will never forget me.]

Henry comforted her, saying, [How can I forget you? Except for getting married, you can do whatever you want.]

Libby felt wronged. She said, [But taking wedding photos is ultimately a fake thing. How can it compare to her wearing a wedding dress and walking into the hall with you to have everyone's blessings?]

[But my love for you is genuine.]

I slid my fingertips inch by inch down the screen, getting more and more disappointed.

"It turns out that Henry, who had been having a heavy workload in recent months, used such an excuse to cover up his dates with Libby."

"It turns out that we suddenly no longer have sex with each other during this period because of Libby. She demanded that Henry not touch me, hoping that Henry would belong to her thoroughly."

"It turns out that on the night before my mother passed away in May, we stayed by her bedside. Henry had to leave early. It is because Libby got drunk at a gathering, and he was worried about her safety."

The words on the screen seemed to have blurred my vision.

Henry and I had been together for ten years. We had been fighting against our families for ten years.

"Now the fruit of our relationship is almost obtained out of my mother's passing away."

I thought we were like the protagonists in a romance movie, overcoming all obstacles and finally having a happy ending.

But the male lead, Henry, had appeared on another set, shooting another story about him and another woman.

I gasped for breath as if I would suffocate in the next second. I scrolled down to the bottom of the screen with my trembling fingers.

Their latest conversation started at the time when I was trying on wedding dresses this afternoon.

[Henry, are you as comfortable being with me as being with her? I am too naive and shy. I am afraid that I can't please you as well as she can.]

Then Libby sent a selfie of hers. She was lying on a bed in a hotel, wrapped in a white sheet.

Henry refuted without hesitation, saying, [Of course, I'm more comfortable being with you. I like your shy and pure appearance. I can't stand bold and wanton women.]

Libby was dissatisfied, saying, [Humph. Then why are you willing to marry that woman and leave me behind? I don't care. I'm keeping the ring. I will return it to you after you coax me.]

Henry replied after a long time, [Be good.]

It was just before he entered the house.

"A bold and wanton woman. Is Henry referring to me?"

Chapter 3

In my sophomore year, my mom was busy with work. Fearing that she couldn't take care of me, she temporarily arranged for me to stay at Jack Lawson's house. Jack Lawson was her long-time friend.

Henry and I went from being unfamiliar classmates to being in a relationship, where we would see each other at home even if we didn't see each other at school.

Such sudden change made us confront each other at home and ignore each other at school.

But there is not much reason to talk about teenagers living under the same roof. We are irresistibly attracted to each other.

One night after the high school graduation, we kissed each other in the empty house under the moonlight. The unfamiliar and burning desire ran rampant in the young bodies.

I stared at his burning and moist eyes. I couldn't tell where the intense heartbeat had come from. I trembled and took off my skirt...

"I have never been stingy in expressing my love. Nor am I afraid of regretting it in the future."

"I never expected that the person I loved would address me as a slut after enjoying my passionate love for ten years."

I looked at the wedding invitation letters piled up on the coffee table and laughed silently. Tears streamed down my face.

After my mother became seriously ill, Henry's father, Jack, finally couldn't bear it. He changed his mind and agreed to us being together.

The first thing Henry and I did was to customize wedding invitation letters. We wanted everyone to know about our relationship.

Facing countless difficulties, we had been sticking together for ten years.

Not long after that year, our families discovered our relationship.

We thought our parents would be happy for us, so we didn't think about hiding it.

As a result, Jack was furious. my mom advised us to break up with red eyes.

I didn't want to make my mom sad. I couldn't bear to see her caught between Jack and us and put herself in a dilemma anyway. Then I suggested breaking up with Henry.

At that time, Jack confined him to his room. Kneeling with his back straight as a punishment, he wasn't eating or drinking.

I turned my body to the side and dared not look him in the eyes. Out of the corner of my eyes, he suddenly bent his straight back after I proposed to break up with him. He was like a withered flower.

Henry lowered his head. With a blush at the corner of his eyes, he choked up and said, "Lucy, except you, I haven't thought about being with anyone else. Please don't give up on me, okay?"

Later, we continued to date each other secretly against our families' wishes. My tense relationship with my family made my mom unhappy. Only after she got sick did things ease up.

"Now everything is moving towards the long-awaited happy ending. We are about to embrace a happy ending."

"Perhaps everyone is as a song line says. No one will be an exception in this mundane world."

"Good times don't last forever."

"One can't always climb upwards."

"Is there no one in love, who lasts forever?"

Chapter 4

I was sleepless all night. I watched as the sky gradually brightened. Then I went into the kitchen to keep myself busy.

After Henry got up, he saw my swollen eyes and hugged me from behind, feeling sorry for me. He said, "Did you work overtime again last night? If you're too tired, don't do it anymore. The entertainment industry is full of different people from all walks of life. I'm worried about you."

I forced a smile, feeling that I was a hypocrite person. I looked down at his empty left hand and said, "Did you lose your ring? I haven't seen it in a long time."

Henry was stunned. He instinctively pulled his hand back, using his right hand to cover it. He said, "Maybe I took it off and left it somewhere when I met a client yesterday. I'll look for it later."

When I graduated from college, Henry took a late mid-night flight to come to my school. He waited downstairs in the dormitory building for a whole night.

He, who had always been flamboyant and unrestrained, knelt nervously amidst the cheers of the crowd.

The ring was in the shape of a simple Möbius strip.

He fixed his moist eyes on me. His choked voice trembled imperceptibly. He said, "The Mobius strip symbolizes infinite loops, which is just like us. We will always meet each other no matter what."

"My dream is to make you happy."

I laughed at his silliness with tears in my eyes. I responded with the same firm promise.

"But now, Henry seems to have jumped off the train where he is destined to meet me."

I got my happiness from him, and he ruined my happy life by himself.

Before leaving for work, Henry stood at the entrance as usual. Hugging and kissing me, he said, "Be careful on the way. I love you."

My body wasn't loyal to my mind. I habitually responded to him first, saying, "I love you too."

The sunshine outside the window was bright. The sky was clear. For a moment, I almost thought that everything that happened yesterday was just a dream of mine.

"We are still a couple, who have overcome many obstacles and are about to start the next stage of life."

When I met Libby, who was wearing an intern badge, at a magazine shooting site, memories and pain came rushing up to me belatedly.

Overwhelmingly, I was stunned on the spot.

Libby saw me too. Seemingly unsurprised, she turned around and walked straight towards me.

The female protagonist in the wedding photos, who had almost burned me to ashes yesterday, was now standing in front of me so lively.

There was no sign at all.

I was astonished. But Libby smiled provocatively as if everything were under her control.

She impolitely looked me up and down at first. Then she frowned slightly, saying, "I don't quite look like her. She is much older than me."

She proudly extended her hand, saying, "I'm Libby Shawn, Henry's... "

She elongated her voice, saying, "His girlfriend."

I shook her hand and said with a fake smile, 'What a coincidence. I am his girlfriend too."
