Chapter 1

When I return to the day I discover my husband, David Stone, is cheating on me, I immediately switch shifts with my colleague.

In my previous life, David had been fooling around with my best friend, Roxanne Lane, in his car when they got into an accident and were rushed to the hospital.

When I received the news, I hurried there at once and saw them tangled together, naked, in the aftermath of the wreck.

My colleague operated on them, and both of them survived. However, the shock was too much for me, and I passed out.

When I woke up, David sent me divorce papers, demanding that I leave the marriage empty-handed.

Citing his affair, I demanded half of his assets.

In response, he sneered, "Me? Cheating? Where's the evidence?"

That was when I remembered that I had fainted before taking any photos.

The hospital's surveillance cameras happened to be down that day, leaving me without a shred of proof. I lost the case and walked out with nothing.

On the day of the divorce, broke and numb, I stumbled out of the courthouse and was hit by a car.

Now, the moment I open my eyes again, I'm back on the day David and Roxanne are taken to the hospital.

"Dr. Smith, are you sure you want to switch shifts with me? The night shift can be brutal if a surgical case comes in."

In the hospital, Caroline Little, a doctor on my team, sounded both surprised and relieved. After all, no one wanted to take the night shift.

I smiled and nodded. "It's fine. I'm feeling energized tonight. I can handle a surgery."

Caroline beamed and gathered her things before going home. I wiped the smile off my face, put on a mask, and got prepared to head to the operating room.

After all, I knew that in just 20 minutes, my husband, David Stone, and my best friend, Roxanne Lane, would be wheeled into the hospital following a car crash caused by their shameless, reckless behavior.

In my previous life, Caroline had performed their surgery. I had rushed to the hospital when I heard about it. When I had seen David and Roxanne together, I had fainted on the spot.

David and Roxanne had survived the surgery. Then David had asked for a divorce and demanded that I leave the marriage with no claim to our property or savings.

I had pointed out his affair and demanded half of his assets.

He had sneered in response, "Me? Cheating? Where's the proof?"

That was when I remembered that I had fainted from the shock and failed to take any photos. The hospital's surveillance cameras had been down that day, so I had no evidence against him.

I had lost the case in court and walked out with nothing.

On the day of the divorce, penniless and numb, I had stumbled out of the courthouse and had been hit by a car. That was how I had died.

When I opened my eyes, I had returned to the day David and Roxanne were wheeled into the hospital. This time, I was determined to expose their affair and ruin them.

Sure enough, within minutes, chaos erupted in the emergency room, along with David's all-too-familiar cry of pain.

"Ouch! Stop moving, Roxanne! You're going to break it! Argh! Help me! Where are the doctors and nurses? I need help now!"

Through the crack in the door, I saw Roxanne sprawled over David in an excruciatingly awkward position. Their filthy, naked bodies were tangled together beneath a single sheet. Nearby, my colleagues exchanged disgusted looks and whispered among themselves.

"What a mess! Seriously? Couldn't they have gotten a room or something? They've come to the hospital completely naked! How embarrassing!"

"It's obvious they aren't in a legitimate relationship. They were shouting for everyone not to take photos—I bet they're afraid their little secret's about to go viral!"

Meanwhile, Roxanne kept screaming, then suddenly seemed to remember something and lowered her voice. "Keep it down, David! Scarlett works at this hospital. If she finds out, it'll be a disaster!"

David gave a cold laugh. "Relax. It's not her shift tonight. That fool's too obsessed with her job to notice anything anyway. If it weren't for her family background, I would've divorced her long ago. And with how stiff and tomboyish she looks, she turns me off completely. You, on the other hand… Owww…"

Even in this state, David's lust hadn't faded. His eyes swept over Roxanne's body again, hungry and shameless.

Suppressing my disgust, I adjusted my mask and surgical cap, then strode forward. "Prep them for surgery now! Another minute and they'll start going at it again! I don't want them staining our hospital beds any further!"

Chapter 2

The assistants and nurses couldn't help laughing when they heard me, exchanging looks of helpless disbelief before they wheeled David and Roxanne into the operating room.

I then brought in a surgical camera and instructed one of the nurses to take photos from every angle.

Lying on the bed, David turned at the sound. "What are you doing? Why are you taking photos in here? This is an invasion of privacy! I'll sue you, you hear me?"

A cold laugh stirred in my chest, though my expression stayed calm. "Everything on the operating table needs to be documented. It helps when consulting with my superior for the best surgical plan. But if you don't want that, then forget about it."

I made a show of putting the camera away and turned to leave.

Seeing that I was leaving, Roxanne called out anxiously, "Wait! We're fine with it!"

Sprawling across David in an absurdly awkward position, she lowered her head and urged him, "David, we need to get ourselves out of this position as soon as possible! If Scarlett, that miserable woman, walks in tomorrow and catches us like this, it'll be a disaster!"

David tried to keep up his bravado act. "Disaster? What disaster? All the properties are under my name. When the time comes, I'll just divorce Scarlett and leave her with nothing! But you… Why does your voice sound so much like hers?"

He turned his head toward me, his body still pinned and unable to move, yet his mouth refused to stay shut. A flicker of suspicion danced in his eyes.

A jolt ran through me. I had gone to great lengths to disguise myself, biting a cotton ball to sound different, wearing a mask, and even layering several lab coats to alter my figure.

Could he have really recognized me?

Before I could think of a response, David grinned smugly. "But judging by your reaction, you're definitely not Scarlett. That woman's a lovesick fool. If she saw me with another woman, she'd throw a fit and start a fight. Seeing me like this? She probably would've passed out by now!"

Roxanne immediately let out a tinkling laugh. "Exactly, David! Remember last time I left that piece of lingerie in your car on purpose? Scarlett completely lost it. She called me that night, crying and pouring her heart out. She never realized you were with me all along!"

David chuckled, but the sudden movement tore at his trapped flesh, and he screamed in pain again.

One of the nurses rolled her eyes and muttered under her breath, "They're cheating and still this proud. What a disgusting pair! I feel so sorry for his wife…"

The nurses had been brought in from other departments, so none of them knew that I was the miserable woman Roxanne and David were making fun of.

David's face flushed red as he tried to defend himself through the pain.

"What do you people know? Roxanne and I are in love! Otherwise, how else would we have ended up like this? A man only gets aroused by a woman he truly loves! That's why I have no interest in getting intimate with that miserable woman I married!"

A chill ran down my spine. If I hadn't regained my memories from my previous life, I would never have guessed that the man who once claimed I was the love of his life had been scheming to steal my assets all along!

And that piece of lingerie? David had told me it belonged to his mother! Obviously, that had been a lie too. The two of them were utterly disgusting.

The hatred coursing through me burned hotter. I drew in a deep breath before saying to them, "Please lie still. I've figured out the best surgical approach."

With that, I picked up the scalpel and aimed it at the spot where their bodies were still tangled together.

Chapter 3

"Hey! What are you doing? Where are you pointing that scalpel?" David's face went pale the moment he saw me move. He shot up in panic to stop me, but the motion tugged at Roxanne's wound.

She screamed, "Argh! That hurts! David, what are you doing?"

David also cried out in pain a few times before settling down, then turned to me again. "What procedure are you performing? You're not going to hurt me, are you? That scalpel is sharp, so you ought to watch where you aim it!"

Obviously, I knew exactly what was running through his mind. I said deliberately, "Your situation is critical right now. If I don't separate you quickly, your blood pressure will spike, leading to increased intracranial pressure. When that happens, both of you could die."

"What?"

"How's that possible?"

They spoke at once, their eyes wide as they looked back at me in disbelief.

I shrugged and uttered casually, "Are you two really that clueless? When two people get stuck together like this, a full separation means one of them has to make a sacrifice!"

David's expression shifted at once. He pointed at me, his voice trembling with fury. "W-what do you mean by that? I'm a man! If you dare to touch me there, I'll make you pay!"

I spread my hands. "You should explain it to your lover and convince her."

Roxanne's expression changed instantly, and she turned to look at David. "David, I'm a woman! If they remove that part of me, how can I still be a woman?"

David immediately began painting a rosy future. "Don't worry, Roxanne. As soon as this is over, I'll divorce Scarlett and marry you! No matter what happens to you, I'll always want you!"

Roxanne's fists clenched at her sides, her face darkening. "But—"

"No buts!" David cut her off and glared at me, threatening, "Doctor, start the surgery! If you can't handle a simple surgery like this, I'll—ouch!"

Before he could finish, Roxanne grabbed the syringe of anesthetic and jabbed him with it. He let out a short yelp before losing consciousness.

Only then did I remember that Roxanne had trained as a nurse. Using a syringe like that was second nature to her. After she administered the anesthesia to David, she looked up at me.

"Doctor, he's under. I'm the only conscious patient now. My needs come first, and my health is the priority! If anything has to be removed, make sure it's his!"

Roxanne looked tense and restless, desperate for me to agree.

I shrugged again and gestured for the nurse to bring over the consent form. "Alright, then. Sign this consent form. But remember—there's no going back once the surgery is done."

Roxanne signed quickly. Without any further ado, the anesthesiologist put her under, and I began the procedure.

Hours passed, and the surgery neared its end.

With a sharp snap, the severed piece dropped into the tray. The surgery was officially over.

David's anesthesia began to wear off. His eyes fluttered open, his voice weak. "Doctor… Is my private part still there?"

I raised a brow, cold smile in place. "Of course."

He exhaled, a faint grin of relief in his haze. "Good… Roxanne loves that part of me the most…"

Ha! She loved it the most, huh? I wondered how I should break it to him that Roxanne was the one who had signed off on removing that very part of him.

I couldn't help but smile at the idea of David's reaction once he was completely awake. I finished tidying up and had the nurses wheel David and Roxanne to their wards.

Not long after, David fully regained his consciousness. The moment he opened his eyes and saw the nurse, his first reaction was to blurt out, "Was the surgery successful? Am I okay? Is everything still intact?"

The nurse, fully aware of what had happened, assumed he was making a facetious comment. She rolled her eyes at him. "Well, your life's intact. Otherwise, how could you still be talking?"

David exhaled in relief, then reached down instinctively toward his groin.

The nurse immediately stopped him. "Don't touch it! The wound's fresh. You'll risk an infection if you mess with it!"

David chuckled. "Young lady, you don't get it. That's my most prized part. I need to see it myself to be sure!"

The nurse froze, her eyes widening. "What's there to see? Didn't your girlfriend already sign off on removing it?"

"What?" David went pale.
