Chapter 1

I was a strategy girl. My mission was to make Kendrick fall in love with me.

When the mission failed, it was the third anniversary of my marriage with him. His first love was back. My years of hard work became insignificant when he abandoned me again and again for his first love.

The day I had an unexpected miscarriage, I filed for a divorce. He didn’t want to. Later, he asked me why.

I just looked at him puzzledly and said, “I don’t love you anymore.”

I finally married Kendrick.

Everyone said that I was lucky. But I know that he didn’t love me because his first love was with someone else. Even though all of that, he still married me.

I didn’t care; I loved him. It was okay, the worst thing was to play the game of marriage first and love later. The stone would always be warmed up one day.

In the first year, he was lukewarm to me and I had basically no other communication with him except in bed.

His attitude toward me changed when I took him home from the drinking party again. He told me that he didn’t love me and didn’t need to spend too much time on it.

How did I answer? I said, “Whether you love me or not is your business. Since you married me, I will be your good wife.”

Since then, he began to learn to be a qualified husband. He began to go home on time, began to report his whereabouts to me, remembered what I liked to eat and bought me the flowers I liked.

I asked the system if I was successful. The system said, “His favorability towards you is only 79%, but it is slowly rising.”

I sighed, it was so hard, so tiring. Chasing him was so tiring; loving him was so tiring.

Just when I thought that he and I would continue like this, his first love, Laura, called and said that she broke up, regretted it and now she was back.

Kendrick was still hugging me and saying that he wanted a child the day before, but he turned around and went out. What he went out for was self-evident.

He left so quickly, without any hesitation and I didn’t even have time to tell him that I was pregnant. Kendrick took Laura home without my consent and didn’t even tell me.

I just came home from the hospital and when I opened the door, I saw Laura sitting in the living room. Seeing me come back, Laura instantly became uneasy. A trace of unnaturalness flashed across Kendrick’s face.

Kendrick said, “Laura just broke up and now she is sad. She has no place to live, so I will bring her here to live for a few days and then move over when she finds a place to live.” Laura stood there, wearing a white dress, with a touch of just the right weakness on her face and she looked like she was about to break. She looked pitiful.

As I remember, she was not like this before. She used to be proud and flamboyant, like a sun. When she was happy, she could be as hot as a flame, but when she was unhappy, she had no warmth at all.

I also remembered that she once said to me, “Kendrick, the man I don’t want, you picked him up like a treasure, but you, you can only do this.”

I didn’t reply to him. I looked at the flowers he bought for me yesterday by the window. They were almost withered and there were a few petals falling next to them, just like... he and I were about to wither. I underestimated the lethality of the first love.

“Let her live in the apartment in Yorkwing Garden. It’s still empty. She can move in after cleaning it up.”

I saw Kendrick’s handsome eyebrows frowned tightly. “It’s a bit far from the city center and the streetlights are sometimes good and sometimes bad. It’s not safe for a girl to go there.” Not safe? But I lived there before I got married.

Laura whispered at this time, “It’s okay, Kendrick. Although it’s a little off and there are fewer people, I can live there. Dont be unhappy with Eileen because of this little thing.”

Kendrick was just frowning at first, but his face became very unhappy when he heard it. “Don’t worry about her, just live here. There are empty rooms here.”

I saw Laura’s mouth corners raised. My first time with first love ended in my miserable failure. I could see that Kendrick had always had her in his heart.

I could also see that Kendrick really didn’t love me that much. The stone couldn’t be warmed after all.

I turned, went into the room, took out the pregnancy test form from my bag and stared at it in a trance. I wanted to tell him that I was pregnant, but now, I couldn’t seem to say it.

I crumpled the pregnancy test report and threw it into the trash can. What was the point of talking about an unexpected child?

Chapter 2

I looked at the wedding photo of him and me on the bedside and suddenly I felt that the smile was a bit dazzling. I felt that his smile was fake.

“Unhappy?” Kendrick came to my side, without knowing when and put his arm around my waist and rubbed it.

I looked at him and my eyes were unconsciously a little hot.

“Okay, a little jealous, hm? There’s nothing between her and me. We are already married and I won’t run away.”

I lowered my head and tears still flowed down. “Kendrick, don’t you want a child? Let’s have one.” I buried myself in his arms, holding him tightly with both hands and said.

I could feel that when I said this, Kendrick’s body was tense for a moment and my heart sank to the bottom.

“Didn’t you say before that you were afraid of pain and didn’t want to give birth?” After a while, I let go of Kendrick.

As the words came to his lips, a cry of pain came from the living room and he ran to the living room without looking back.

He didn’t notice that I wanted to hold his hand, nor did he notice that I almost fell when he pushed me away.

Laura just accidentally hit the corner of the table, but Kendrick was very nervous and insisted that she sat down and went to find the medicine box himself.

Watching him focus and gently rub Laura’s pain was a treatment I had never had before.

I remembered the last time I sprained my ankle and my ankle was swollen. He just gave me the medicine and let me rub it myself.

At that time, he just kept telling me, “Be careful next time.”

But at that time, I was still ecstatic, thinking that he cared about me, telling myself that he was that kind of person. Now in comparison, I was simply weak.

It turned out that he was not incapable of tenderness, but he only gave his tenderness to others.

I turned around and wiped away my tears, deliberately ignoring Laura’s provocative eyes.

Any normal person could see what Laura was thinking. She was abandoned and came back to find a spare tire. She was very confident that she could snatch Kendrick.

She was qualified. Once she came back, all my efforts of several years were in vain. She pretended to tease casually again and again and Kendrick was shaken again and again.

I thought if I hadn’t been there, they might have rolled together. That day was the third anniversary of him and me and I watched the surging ambiguous feelings between them.

In the end, I once again proposed that Laura move out and the first quarrel broke out between us.

“Eileen, do you have to be so heartless? I said, there is nothing between her and me. Why do you have to be like this? Are you jealous?” Kendrick in front of me was very strange. I had never seen him like this.

I stared at him in a daze. “Today is our third anniversary! What do you mean by taking her with you? Does she have no arms or legs? Go and see which couple brings their first love with them on their anniversary!”

“Eileen! Do you want to see what you look like now? You are just like a psychopath!”

Kendrick, my husband, the person I loved the most, said I was a psychopath. The person who fell in love first really lost the most.

“Kendrick, don’t quarrel, I will just move out.”

Laura pulled his arm and a tear fell from the corner of her eyes.

Kendrick saw him crying and felt very distressed. “Don’t cry, isn’t it just moving out? I will accompany you.”

I couldn’t get involved in their communication. It seemed that I was the superfluous one, I was the third party and I should leave. Laura immediately packed up and prepared to leave. She didn’t have much stuff.

When Kendrick packed up and prepared to leave, I held him back without giving up. “You are already married and your wife is me! Not her!”

“So what if you are married? You can get divorced even if you are married.” I didn’t expect him to be so heartless. It turned out that the relationship between him and me in the past few years was so fragile. As soon as the fragile Laura cried, he surrendered.
