Chapter 2

The next morning, I was awakened by the phone ringtone I set exclusively for Peter.

I cleared my throat and answered the phone.

"Go buy me two breakfasts. Extra sugar for the coffee. You have 10 minutes. Hurry up! My girlfriend is waiting. We're in Room 405."

"OK."

After hanging up the phone, I changed my clothes and rushed to the breakfast place on the second floor of the cafeteria.

Fortunately, there weren't a lot of people in the morning. I bought the breakfast and hurried to Room 405.

When I arrived at Room 405, as soon as I entered, I saw Peter hugging his girlfriend, Sarah King, and flirting with her.

"Stop it! Others are here."

"So what? I like you."

Peter's tone was gentle. He never talked to me like that.

I handed the breakfast to the two.

Sarah looked at me mockingly and handed me the coffee in the bag.

"Open it for me."

I opened the lid and handed the cup to her.

But she had a slip of her hand. The coffee cup fell to the ground, and the coffee was spilled on my shoes.

"I'm really sorry, Laura. You're not angry, are you? I didn't mean it."

Peter looked at me impatiently.

"You're so careless. The coffee is so hot. If it spilled on Sarah, there would be consequences!"

I could only lower my head and pick up the cup that fell on the ground.

"I'm sorry. I didn't hold it steady."

Sarah spoke softly, with a mocking tone in her voice.

"Then please clean my shoes. There are a few drops splashed on them."

She even kindly handed me a wet tissue.

She smiled at me.

I glanced at Peter.

"What are you looking at? Didn't you hear her? Clean her shoes properly."

I took the wet tissue handed to me by Sarah and squatted down under the gaze of everyone.

The surrounding discussions were kinda loud.

"What's wrong with Laura? Why does she have to be a simp? Doesn't she know she'll end up with nothing?"

"Who knows? She is quite persistent, you know. She's been like this since the beginning of sophomore year."

"Peter is over the line. Even though he doesn't have feelings for her, he shouldn't insult her."

"Seconded. What a jerk."

"The only advantage he has is his face."

Sarah stretched her feet in front of me, and I pressed the wet tissue on her shoes and wiped them carefully.

After I was done, Sarah smiled satisfactorily.

"Laura, you're really good at polishing shoes."

Then she turned her head to look at Peter.

"Peter, can she do it again sometime?"

Peter affectionately stroked Sarah's head.

"OK. Whatever you say."

Peter suddenly turned his head towards me, and his tone and gaze instantly turned cold.

"Why are you still here?"

I was about to leave with my bag when Sarah stopped me.

"Laura, it's a Chanel bag, right? It looks really nice."

Sarah's eyes were filled with greed as she stared at my bag.

Peter said.

"You have so many bags. Why don't you give this one to Sarah? She likes it. She will definitely look better with it than you."

Sarah looked at Peter excitedly and said, "Really? You're the best, Peter."

Hesitant, I looked at Sarah.

"This bag was a birthday gift from my brother."

Sarah's eyes were filled with jealousy as she wrapped her arms around Peter's arm.

"Peter, did you hear that? She doesn't even want to give me a bag. And she says she likes you?"

"Give it to her, Laura. I don't want to say it for the third time."

Sarah looked at me with a smug look in her eyes.

I could only take off the bag, take out the things inside, and hand the bag to Sarah.

Sarah took the bag and fiddled with it.

"Peter, it's really pretty. Thank you."

Sarah tiptoed and kissed Peter's face.

I was expressionless at first. Seeing that, I frowned and looked disgusted.

Chapter 3

After I returned to the dormitory, my roommate came to me.

"Check this out."

I took her phone and saw that the photo of me shining shoes for Sarah was posted on the confession wall.

Below were all the mocking words about me being a simp.

I returned the phone to my roommate without any emotional fluctuations.

"What about it?"

She was so angry that she took a deep breath.

"You! Come on, Laura! After what he did to you, are you really still gonna be his simp?

"He is humiliating you. He doesn't like you at all."

I smiled indifferently.

"Yeah, I know."

"You know? Then why are you still..."

"Don't ask. I will tell you one day."

"Fine."

Chapter 4

In the evening, my roommates and I went to the cafeteria to have dinner.

We sat down and took a few bites.

Then Sarah walked towards me with her friends.

Seeing that something was wrong, my roommates winked at me.

"This doesn't look good."

Sarah came to me and poured the food on my plate onto my head.

What a pity.

It was such a waste of braised pork, my favorite.

There weren't many people in the cafeteria, and my seat was quite secluded with a lot of obstructions, so no one noticed us.

"What are you doing? Sarah, what's wrong with you?"

My roommates stood up for me.

"What am I doing?

"She seduced my boyfriend, OK?

"Are you not tired of being a simp? Let me tell you something. Peter likes me. Have some self-respect and get lost."

Sarah was really different from this morning.

I must look very disheveled right now.

I casually took out a tissue from my pocket and wiped the broth off my face.

I had to send my clothes to the dry cleaner again.

I immediately looked at Sarah coldly.

"What do you want?"

"Don't bother Peter anymore, you simp. You'll make a fool of yourself in the end," Sarah snorted.

She finished speaking and left, and my roommates looked at me at a loss.

"You really feel nothing? After how she treated you?"

"She had your bag and still said such things about you!"

"She's the most shameless person I've ever met!"

I looked at myself in the mirror.

"I feel certain things. After all, I love braised pork, and I hate to see it get wasted.

"Every grain of food is hard-won. It's really a waste."

My roommates looked at me speechlessly.
