Chapter 6

Hearing those words, Dixie suddenly drew in a shocked breath.

She stared at the bodyguard in disbelief, her lips shaking. “Impossible! He would not treat me this way!”

Even if Atticus no longer loved her, she had been the girl he liked since he was seven years old. How could he be so heartless…

“What is so impossible about it?” the bodyguard mocked. “Miss Steinfeld is Mr. Reid’s darling. You kept hurting her again and again. You are simply asking for trouble.”

“Oh yes, Mr. Reid even said himself that having sex with you feels nothing at all. An artificial vagina cannot compare to a natural one.”

After speaking, the bodyguard stepped out of the basement and shut the door hard.

The three male models hurriedly took off their clothing and jumped on Dixie, pinning her beneath them.

At the moment her body was roughly forced open, Dixie cried with regret.

She regretted loving Atticus and regretted even more completing ninety-nine operations for such a person.

That evening, cries from the underground room continued endlessly.

By the next day, the male models finally departed.

Dixie remained lying still inside a pool of blood, her body suffering from splitting pain.

She promised herself that Atticus must repay blood with blood!

Hopelessness rose like incoming waves. Dixie’s sight turned dark, and she fainted.

After awareness returned, Dixie’s entire body burned with heat, and her throat felt as if fire burned through it.

She had a strong fever!

Fighting the pain, she tried to crawl upward and slowly moved toward the door, her voice rough and weak. “Let me out. I must go to the hospital!”

Yet her cries for help brought no answer.

Slowly, Dixie’s awareness became unclear.

Before her eyes shut, she thought she saw Atticus staring at her with eyes full of pain.

“Dixie, let us stop the operation now, alright?”

“I will destroy myself. We will remain DINK forever. In this life, we never part!”

“Dixie, I promise I never betray you…”

She did not know how much time had passed before Dixie woke when the sound of the door opening reached her ears.

A bodyguard tossed a hard steamed bun onto her. “Miss Steinfeld gives this to you.”

Dixie spoke plainly. “Send me to meet a doctor. I do not wish to die here. However much Atticus gives you, I give twice.”

Yet the bodyguard ignored her and simply shut the door.

During the next few days, Atticus never showed himself.

The food the guards delivered was careless, sometimes hard steamed buns, sometimes spoiled and sour dishes.

To stay alive, Dixie could only bite her teeth and force them down.

Perhaps her fate was not meant to finish yet; the injuries slowly formed scabs, and the pain eased a lot.

On that day, a strange guard allowed Dixie to come outside.

“Mr. Reid asks me to tell you that after three days, it is your wedding. He brings Miss Steinfeld outside to relax and returns on the wedding day.”

Dixie coldly laughed. After harming her in this way, Atticus still believed she would become his bride!

After dragging herself upstairs, she immediately took out her phone and called the police.

After hearing she had been assaulted by three male models, the police said they would begin checking the case right away.

Later, Dixie purchased two flight tickets to the United States, then called Terrence.

She hid the details about the attack and only explained that Atticus had cheated on her, but still refused to cancel the engagement.

After discovering his daughter had been mistreated, Terrence became instantly mad. “He repeatedly promises he treats you kindly for life, so your mother and I allow you to do the operation. Yet he actually breaks his promise!”

“Dixie, you suffer injustice. Dad certainly demands fairness for you!”

Dixie tried very hard to convince him and finally persuaded Terrence to abandon that plan. “Dad, Atticus’s power reaches everywhere. We must not oppose him directly. The most urgent matter is leaving Jefferson City. I purchased tickets for you and Mom. You leave first. I follow you as soon as possible.”

Terrence spoke with concern, “If he learns it, what do you do?”

“Do not worry.” Dixie acted calm. “Atticus still has feelings for me. He does nothing to me.”

Terrence finally gave in. Two hours afterward, he informed Dixie that he and Brianna had already gotten onto the airplane.

The strain in Dixie’s nerves eased slightly, and all power in her body seemed to fade away.

She swallowed a sleep tablet and, after a deep rest, rose to organize her belongings.

After many years together, Atticus had given her one whole wall, in jewelry and handbags alone.

Together with garments and footwear, they covered the entire villa.

Dixie gathered all the presents and sent them to a recycling platform.

Then she reached a real estate firm and placed the house for sale.

This villa was the home for her and Atticus after the wedding. When purchasing it, Terrence had provided half the payment, so she could stand tall after the wedding.

What did not belong to her, she did not wish for.

What belonged to her, she must take back.

During those three days, the bodyguards continued observing Dixie. She had no method to escape.

Besides, Jennifer sent endless WhatsApp texts to anger her each day.

[Atticus purchased many jewels for me. He says you are only an ornament he brings home as a bride. I am the real love.]

[Being a woman like this, you are truly a failure. If I were you, I would simply die!]

[Atticus says he loves how I appear in bed very much. He never separates from me in this life…]

The Dixie now was already used to these WhatsApp texts.

On the night before the wedding, Atticus came back.

He did not enter the bedroom, but remained outside the doorway and spoke softly, “Wife, I miss you very much. But following Jefferson City traditions, we cannot meet tonight.”

“I bring you a present and place it at the doorway. Remember, you collect it later.”

Dixie felt a twist inside her stomach. She held back the urge to vomit and replied, “I understand. You leave.”

“You are still upset?” Atticus’s voice is somewhat disappointed. “I know you suffer unfairness. But my wife, Jennifer, always acts spoiled. If I do not give you a lesson, she does not release you.”

That painful time of abuse rose inside her mind. Dixie could not hold down the anger inside her heart and spoke with tight teeth, “I do nothing. Everything is planned and performed by her! Atticus, you regret this!”

“I already feel regret…” Atticus breathed out quietly. “Forgive me, wife. I repay you later.”

“Rest early. Tomorrow, you become the most lovely bride in Jefferson City.”

After saying that, the sound of his steps slowly disappeared.

Dixie suddenly laughed. While laughing, tears ran down from the sides of her eyes.

Atticus, tomorrow, I give you a wedding you never forget in your entire life!

Very early the next morning, the beauty team came to the villa to arrange Dixie’s appearance.

Dixie guided the makeup artist upstairs and, without drawing notice, handed her water mixed with sleeping pills.

After the makeup artist drank the water, she lost consciousness soon afterward.

“I am sorry,” Dixie spoke quietly, then pulled out a thick red envelope and pushed it into the woman’s hand.

Then she removed the woman’s clothes and put them on, placed a cap and mask on herself, and walked directly downstairs.

The door opened. The bodyguards casually looked at her and then shifted their eyes away.

Dixie held her breath and entered the wedding company’s vehicle as though nothing happened.

Just when the driver prepared to speak, she quickly passed him a bundle of money.

“Do not ask anything. Drive me to the airport as quickly as possible.”

The driver paused for half a second, then stretched his hand to accept the money and began driving.

During the trip, officers phoned. “Miss Chapman, we already arrested the male models who assaulted you. They admit their offenses.”

Dixie pressed her teeth together and spoke one word after another, “I want them to receive the punishment they deserve!”

The journey remained smooth the whole time. Twenty minutes afterward, she reached the airport safely.

After boarding the plane, Dixie sent the intimate recordings of Atticus and Jennifer to the Reid family chat group.

The caption contained only four words. [Bastard cheated, wedding canceled!]

After pressing send, she blocked Atticus and every person connected with him.

The announcement informed passengers that the airplane would depart soon. Dixie switched off her phone and shut her eyes from tiredness.

Atticus, farewell forever!
