Chapter 2
My mother lost her temper and went up to push the staff.
"Everyone, please reason it out. Which museum would carelessly display its collections outside? So many children are here, and it's inevitable that the collections will be bumped by them. You are deliberately trying to extort money from us!"
The staff were so angry that their eyes turned red and said they would call the police to resolve the issue.
Hearing that they were going to call the police, my mother and Ella were scared.
Finally, the manager in charge was called and decided to make them pay 150,000 dollars in damages.
My mother looked at me with burning eyes, seeming to be hesitant to speak.
I knew what she meant, and I made a helpless gesture with both hands.
"Mom, I've spent so much money on this trip, and I haven't even bought our tickets back yet!"
They had no choice but to call Chad to ask for money, and he got furious on the phone.
When we got home and opened the door,
we saw Chad sitting on the sofa with a grim face.
Seeing us come back, he was furious. He grabbed Hale and beat him.
"I work hard to make money, but you compensated 150,000 dollars."
My mother quickly held Hale in her arms and dodged with dissatisfaction.
"Enough. The compensation has already been paid. It's no use hitting him. Besides, we still have Kelly. We paid out 150,000 dollars this time, and we will have a tough time. Kelly won't ignore you."
My mother pulled me.
"Kelly, right?"
I forced a smile.
"Of course, we are all family, and we're going to get through this together."
After hearing that, Chad's face softened.
I pulled the frightened Hale aside, and he asked me in fear,
"Auntie, did I make a mistake?"
I stroked his head and whispered to him to comfort him.
"No. You are the most sensible boy. It's all the museum's fault. This valuable collection didn't even have a glass cover."
When Hale heard what I said, his expression immediately turned from gloomy to bright, and he spoke to me with his chest puffed out as if to take credit.
"Right. That broken porcelain vase is not pretty at all. I broke it on purpose!"
I clapped my hands encouragingly.
"You are the best. You just remember that we are all your strong backers. You cannot suffer any grievances outside. You are the only boy in our family. Everything in the family will be yours. Your parents still helped you this time. No matter what you do, they will always help you, so don't be afraid and do whatever you want."
Hale seemed to understand what I said.
I just wanted him to understand that he didn't have to care about anything and could do whatever he wanted.
He nodded heavily.
It was two months later that I saw Hale again.
When my mother called me recently, I always used the excuse that I was busy with work.
"Chad and Ella paid so much money, and I have to earn more money to help them."
After hearing that, my mother nodded repeatedly and stopped urging me to go home.
That day I wanted to go back and get something.
As soon as I opened the door, I was drenched with water. Hale held the water gun and screamed,
"Drowned rat! Drowned rat!"
My mother and Ella sat on the sofa, smiling at him lovingly.
I wasn't angry and just said,
"You are so great. You has grown taller and stronger in the past few months. But you can't treat others like this outside."
Ella glanced at me with dissatisfaction.
"Instead of disciplining my son, you might as well find someone to marry."
I smiled awkwardly and said nothing.
Chapter 3
Hale became more complacent.
"You are nosy. You drowned rat that no one wants!"
Seeing that I looked unhappy, my mother quickly asked me to go to the kitchen to help.
It didn't matter. They kept coddling him like that, and one day he would get into trouble.
After dinner, my mother took Hale downstairs to play.
After a while, they came back angrily.
It turned out that Hale saw his neighbor Kitty Howard's doll and wanted to snatch it from her.
Kitty refused to give it to him, so he pushed her down.
My mother watched him bullying Kitty and was completely indifferent. She was just chatting with others.
Then Kitty's father came.
He grabbed Hale by the collar and threw him to the ground.
Hale felt pain and immediately burst into tears.
Seeing that, my mother was angry and gonna scratch Kitty's father's face, but he dodged her.
"What are you doing? If anything happens to my grandson, I won't spare you."
Kitty's father was not to be outdone.
"Didn't you see that your grandson was bullying Kitty? He snatched her doll and pushed her down."
Kitty's father raised her little hand, and her palm was red. In contrast, Hale was so fat that he was not hurt at all after the fall.
My mother pointed at Kitty and cursed,
"Just a daughter, she is not worth protecting like this. Hale likes the doll, so what's the big deal about letting him play with it?"
"Shut up! No wonder Hale is so arrogant and domineering. He is just like you!"
Kitty's father raised his voice and clenched his fists, as if his fists would fall on my mother's face if my mother said one more word.
My mother stopped arguing and pulled Hale towards the house while muttering.
"Pah, just a doll. We don't care. Hale, I'll ask your aunt to buy you a better toy when we get home."
Hale turned around and made a face at Kitty, saying,
"Pah, girl!"
After hearing what my mother said, Ella was not angry. Instead, she smiled happily and hugged Hale and kissed him.
"You are worthy of being my son! I am afraid that your hands will be dirty with her doll."
Hale's face became even more smug.
Spoiling a child was like killing him. Looking at the ferocious expressions of the three people in front of me, I waited to see how much longer they could be happy.
Sure enough, within two days, I received a call from my mother.
Hale was in trouble again.
When I rushed to the hospital, I saw several policemen standing in the corridor. My mother was holding one of them and saying something in tears.
When my mother saw me coming, she snatched my bag away.
"Kelly, how much money do you have? Take it out quickly."
I held down my mother's hands as she was searching. Ella came up and pulled me.
"Kelly, you have to help us."
Chad stood aside with a dejected look on his face, and no one knew what he was thinking.
It was only after my mother's fragmentary explanation that I understood what had happened.
I originally thought that in my previous life, Hale killed me accidentally.
Unexpectedly, he had been a bad guy since childhood.
After my mother picked up Hale from kindergarten and went to the kitchen to cook, he was playing alone in the living room.
Not long after, my mother heard a commotion coming from downstairs.
She ran out and saw a group of people gathered downstairs, and she also wanted to know what happened.
