Chapter 6

After her five-minute song ended, the audience was utterly stunned.

Of course, the show's crew and even the director were shocked, too.

Who could have expected her to sing so terribly?

Well, except for me, I wasn't surprised at all.

She was nothing more than an empty shell, packaged by her team.

When she swaggered backstage, she immediately threw a tantrum.

"What's wrong with them? I sang my heart out on stage, so why didn't the audience applaud?

"They were so excited for those foreign singers, but when I was up there, they acted like they didn't even know who I was. Not a single reaction!"

I stayed silent while her manager was running around like a headless chicken.

Amid the flood of trending topics criticizing her terrible performance, there was one that stood out: "Kelly, the Voice of an Angel."

It was so obviously a pre-arranged post by her manager, but now it was too late to retract it.

It couldn't be more embarrassing.

The comments below it were even more brutal.

Netizen 1: [Kelly, go away! How dare you sing like that on a stage meant for real singers?]

Netizen 2: [Exactly, it's humiliating! Is there no one better left in our showbiz?]

Netizen 3: [She didn't sound like this on other shows. What happened today?]

Netizen 4: [Are you kidding? This was a live broadcast. It just shows her actual skill level. Those other performances must have been heavily edited.]

Chapter 7

Kelly was being torn apart by criticism.

When she finally saw the comments, she was so furious she smashed her phone.

"Are these people crazy? What's wrong with my singing? I've always sung like this, and they used to praise me for it.

"Now, they're all attacking me. It's insane! Someone must be sabotaging me."

Her manager was sweating.

"No, Kelly, this was a live broadcast. I warned you before, you shouldn't have come."

Kelly slapped him across the face, and he stormed out in anger.

"I'm done with your terrible attitude. I'm not working with you anymore."

Kelly couldn't care less.

"Hmph, there are plenty of people who'd jump at the chance to be my manager. Get lost!"

When the final rankings were announced, it was no surprise Kelly came in last.

She scowled at the results.

"This isn't fair! Why am I in last place? Do you all not have ears?"

The other singers' expressions were complex to describe.

Finally, Rachel summed it up in one sentence.

"Kelly, your only contribution to this show was your outfit."

Kelly nearly fainted from anger, and Rachel's words shot to the top of the trending list.

Netizens applauded Rachel, and even I gave her a like.

Kelly was engulfed in a storm of insults with every kind of harsh comment you could imagine.

She was indignant, but the show's director was even more anxious.

He directly informed her that she wasn't needed for the next episode.

"Your performance was so awful that you don't even deserve to be eliminated. You're just fired."

Although Kelly was reluctant, she also knew deep down that she couldn't face another episode.

Kelly was too afraid. Being cut from the show was almost a relief for her.

If the production team had been crueler and let her stay on, she would have made an even bigger fool of herself, and the show would've gotten even more attention.

But that wasn't what the director wanted. He was after an actual musical competition, not controversy.

However, finding a last-minute replacement wasn't easy.

Especially after Kelly's disastrous performance, the more prominent names were even more hesitant to join.

The live format was too risky, and any mistakes would be exposed for all to see.

With the next live broadcast fast approaching, the director still hadn't found a suitable replacement.

Netizens were having a field day with memes, practically begging Rachel to bring someone in. They'd suggested nearly every famous singer, but no one was willing or available.

As the show faced the possibility of an empty slot, the director grew so stressed that he broke out in cold sores.

Finally, I stood before him.

"Sir, I can sing."

He looked at me like I was crazy.

"You? You're just an assistant. A celebrity assistant, no less, and to Kelly of all people. What can you sing?"

His disdain was apparent, but I understood.

After all, Kelly had sung terribly, so how good could her assistant possibly be?

But I revealed something the director didn't know.

"Actually, all of Kelly's hit songs were written and composed by me. And yes, I can sing too.

"You can listen to my voice first, and then decide."
