Chapter 2
I wiped the blood from my forehead and said coldly, "This is the last time I give you advice as your daughter. I did hear that, and there's nothing I can do if you don't believe me. I have already graduated, and I don't wanna stay here with you anymore. During those years, you've only cared about Alison. Have you ever cared about me at all? Grandpa paid for my living expenses in college. Not you. From now on, you're strangers to me."
Alison looked at me in surprise, and she even forgot to cry.
Then a hint of mockery appeared in her eyes. She came to me, held my hand, and said, "Diana, don't say that. I know you don't mean it. You're just upset. Mom and Dad will be so sad to hear you say that. I don't blame you for slandering me, but Mom and Dad are getting old. Don't upset them, OK?"
"Alison, stop defending her. I'm gonna teach her a lecture today. She wants to cut us off? She doesn't get to do that! Only we can cut her off!"
My dad was so angry that the veins on his forehead popped out. He went to the bedroom, took out a stick, and started hitting me.
My mom watched coldly and picked up a glass, taking a sip of coffee.
"Diana deserves a lesson. She's Alison's older sister, and she should act like one. Yet she wants everything Alison has and slanders Alison. Now she even dares to talk back! If we get old, she might even pull out our oxygen tubes and leave us to die!"
My dad's gaze became even more hostile as he heard this. He looked at me as if I were his enemy and beat me even harder.
He didn't hold back at all and knocked me down mercilessly, just like always.
Alison pretended to be scared and hid in my mom's arms, but she looked at me with a mocking expression when I was being beaten.
As I watched the scene in front of me, I sneered inwardly.
Go ahead and hit me. You've hit me countless times already. From now on, I have no parents.
I, Diana Shepherd, will never give anything that belongs to me to anyone again.
The farce didn't end until my dad was tired and sweating from beating me. He casually threw away the stick and left after saying.
"You want to cut us off? Fine. I'll give you what you want. From now on, you're not the Shepherd family's daughter anymore. Our property, including our company, goes to Alison only. You have nothing to do with it."
Your company? Have you ever considered giving it to me at all?
Mom led Alison upstairs, and before leaving, she looked at me in disdain while standing on the stairs.
"Diana, pack up your things and piss off. It's better if you're not here. No one will bully Alison again."
Alison comforted Mom, but her eyes were full of complacency when she looked at me.
After they left, I struggled to return to my room with my battered body.
I packed up my clothes, went out, and found a hotel to stay in.
In the next two months, I used the money my grandpa gave me to buy an apartment.
I spent money willfully with my bank card, trying to make up for my suffering for more than 20 years.
Now that no one loved me, I'd love myself.
When I was little, I blinked as I watched Alison snatch my things away. Though I was sad, I had to let her. And now, I'd make it up to that little me.
I kept buying until the apartment was filled, and lying on the bed and looking at the things I bought, I felt happier than ever.
I took out my phone and started to browse the trending topics out of habit. Suddenly, I saw a striking line of words.
#The Shepherd Group changes ownership# Alison actually gave the company to an outsider #Mr. Shepherd and Mrs. Shepherd fainted#
Alison was something. She actually gave the company to that scumbag. She was such a fool.
Mom and Dad must be furious.
My phone buzzed a few times, and when I saw the caller ID, I blocked the number without hesitation.
Now you think of me? Why don't you keep spoiling Alison? She's your wonderful daughter, isn't she?
I was sleeping soundly at night when suddenly, I was awakened by a knock on the door.
Groggy, I glanced at the surveillance camera and immediately wasn't sleepy anymore.
They couldn't reach me, so they directly came to my apartment.
Chapter 3
I leisurely leaned on the sofa, nibbling on an apple, watching my angry parents knocking on the door in the video.
They exerted so much strength that they were about to break the door.
It seemed like they knew I wouldn't open the door, so they started yelling.
"Diana, open the door! Don't you know we're here? We're your parents! Come out here and greet us! How could you be so ungrateful? Did you instigate Alison to give the company to an outsider? We raised you for over twenty years! And you bit the hand that fed you! Go! Talk to Alison! Get the company back!"
I smirked as I bit the apple. What does it have to do with me now that Alison gave the company to someone else?
Even now, they are still protecting Alison. She has already given their company to an outsider, yet they still believe in her bullshit.
They will regret it.
It's about time.
I got up, walked to the door, and shouted.
"Alison is such a fool in love. She gave that scumbag everything you have. And I've warned you long ago. You chose not to listen to me. By the way, I am no longer your daughter. Leave my house immediately, or I will call the police. You wanna be the trending topic again?"
Hearing my threat, they cursed for a while. Before leaving, my mom acted tough and said harshly.
"When you're short of money, don't beg us for it. You're no longer our daughter. Alison is way better than you. What kind of vicious people keep their parents out of the door? No one will ever want you."
Looking at Mom's expression of disgust in the video, I didn't feel a thing. I had already become accustomed to it.
They never smiled when they were with me. Well, perhaps they did before I was three.
Grandpa said they used to love me very much before Alison was born, but everything had changed the second she was born.
When Alison received a reward, my parents smiled and lifted her up to kiss her.
I thought as long as I scored well, they'd treat me the same.
I studied my ass off and won the first place every time. What did I get?
I walked up to them holding the reward and looked at them with expectancy.
But they accused me of being so shameless and childish because I was older than Alison, and I shouldn't try to surpass her in every way.
I was only three years younger than Alison.
But exactly because I was older than her, whenever she made a mistake, my parents always thought it was me who instigated and instructed her to do it.
Every time, she stood by, looking innocent and remaining silent.
She became even more outrageous after realizing that our parents spoiled her only.
After causing trouble, she let me take the blame.
She pretended to be a well-behaved little lady in front of our parents, but in fact, she had done everything nasty behind their backs like smoking, drinking, and extorting classmates at school.
When parents complained about her, she said that I instructed her and even inflicted injuries on herself.
My parents disliked me even more. In their eyes, I was no longer their daughter.
Since childhood, every time she complained, my dad would drag me into the basement and beat me. He broke at least five sticks already.
Once, I returned to the room with injuries all over my body after being beaten, and just lay down, I sat up in pain with a scream.
I picked up the blanket and smelled it. It had been soaked in salt water.
She hid aside and laughed at me like she was watching a clown.
I was not convinced and took the blanket to my parents' room.
I told them what Alison did.
I thought they would criticize her after knowing the truth.
But Alison wrapped her arms around my mom's neck and cried, saying she was scared and that I hit her.
She even put the blanket in salt water and beat herself frantically.
As she spoke, she rolled up her sleeves, which were covered with red marks.
My parents didn't believe me in the first place, and after that incident, I lost their trust completely.
They beat me again and then didn't give me any food for three days.
I was starving and called out to them, but no one responded.
Only Alison came over with dog food, poured it into a bowl, and threw it in front of me, saying that if I didn't eat, I'd die.
I wanted to cry, and my eyes turned red, but I held back my tears.
I finished eating the dog food while lying down, amidst her mocking voice.
Thinking of this, I took out my phone and looked at the trending topic list again, feeling great.
I want to see how far your beloved daughter can go for that man.
After that day, I kept an eye on the trending topic list and even hired someone to watch the company entrance.
My parents kept persuading Alison.
She put on an act again, crying non-stop and saying that she didn't know anything. It was me and her boyfriend.
My parents believed her and hated me even more, veins on their foreheads bulging with anger.
Watching them get in a car together with Alison, I knew they must be coming to find me.
I washed up and dressed up beautifully.
I smiled at myself in the mirror and picked up my bag to go to the company.
I made a phone call on the way and sneered when I got a positive answer again.
The result hasn't come out yet. Why not have some appetizers first?
The truth is about to come out.
