Chapter 4
The wedding was over very quickly.
But people in our city had been talking about my marriage into the Park family.
They all envied me for being able to marry a local wealthy businessman and often compared me to Emily.
Emily also smiled with gritted teeth and said that I had married well.
But she said her husband would also be successful in the future.
I ignored the gossip.
On the first day of moving into my new home, I found my mother-in-law Alice and told her that I wanted to continue my studies.
When she heard this, her face showed a hint of appreciation.
She should have investigated me before I married into her family.
I was adopted by Mary, and after I finished college, Mary refused to let me continue my graduate studies.
She forced me to get married as soon as possible.
I could only give up my qualifications for admission to graduate school.
Now that I had the opportunity, I would naturally not give up.
More importantly, I had to improve my abilities to avoid the same situation as in the previous life from happening again.
"Since you have this idea, I naturally support you," she took a sip of coffee and then said.
"But you can't delay having a child."
She looked at Johnathan meaningfully.
I looked up and met his eyes.
I stared at him straight. His ears turned red and he turned his eyes away shyly.
"I got it, mom. I have some things to deal with at the company. I'll go take care of them first."
After saying that, he left quickly.
In the evening, Johnathan came back at one o'clock in the morning.
He pushed the door open and was a little surprised to see that I was still awake. He stared at me for a moment and managed to say, "I'll take a shower first."
Chapter 5
I looked at the new computer Alice bought for me and rubbed my eyes.
If he hadn't come back, I wouldn't have known it was so late.
I looked at the sorted information, all of which were about how Joseph had deceived Johnathan in his previous life.
I had to be prepared for everything. Moreover, things were about to happen.
It was better to prepare early.
I heard the bathroom door open.
Johnathan walked out wearing black silk pajamas, with a few water droplets on the ends of his hair.
He raised his hand and put it into his hair, randomly brushing it, and walked towards the bed.
"What are you looking at?"
I came to my senses and found myself staring at him, so looked back at the computer screen with embarrassment.
He lifted a corner of the quilt and crawled in, looking sideways at me and saying, "Are you investigating my uncle?"
I took two deep breaths and looked at him, saying, "I am going to continue my study, so I want to analyze and see if I have forgotten the knowledge I learned before with your uncle as an example."
It happened that the major I studied in college in my previous life helped me a lot, otherwise, it would have been difficult for me after my rebirth.
He came closer with interest.
The breath he blew past the tips of my ears and I felt shy.
There had never been a man so close to me, so I almost couldn't control myself.
He suddenly pointed at my screen and asked, "Where did you get this data?"
I looked over and saw that it was the project he and Joseph were collaborating on.
I said seriously, "I asked my mother to give me this. Look here." I checked the next few pages.
It was about the companies that Joseph had acquired in recent years. I had made some analysis and comments below.
Without exception, they were insolvent and bankrupt.
He watched silently, showing no emotion.
I understood and said, "Perhaps, you should review it again."
"Send this to me and have a good rest tonight. I will go back to the company now."
Chapter 6
After that night, Johnathan went home less and less frequently.
Mary kept urging me to come back home.
After I finished talking to Johnathan on the phone, I asked him to deal with his work first and go back home with me when he was free.
So today I carried the gifts back home alone.
Before I even entered the room, Emily and Mary's laughter could be heard through the door.
There was no doubt that Kevin's sweet words made them happy.
I pushed the door open and the laughter stopped abruptly.
Emily was leaning intimately on the sofa with her arms around Kevin, and when she saw me, she turned her face away.
"Mom, the busiest woman is back. She didn't even bring her husband with her."
Mary looked unhappy and said, "Why isn't your husband here? Is it because you are not welcomed in his family that no one wants to accompany you?"
I put down the gifts I brought back and opened the shoe cabinet to change my shoes.
But I found that my shoes were gone.
Emily laughed and said, "You're married. How can you expect our family to keep your things?"
Mary also agreed, "You don't come back often, so I threw away your shoes, or they would take up space."
"The house is quite clean, you can come in barefoot."
I saw that they were all wearing slippers.
"Is it clean?"
I closed the shoe cabinet and touched the door.
I rubbed my fingers and stepped in with my shoes. "I don't think it's very clean. Look, there's still dust on my fingers."
After saying that, I looked at Emily and said, "Emily often comes home, and she doesn't even help mom clean up. She lives so close from here. If I knew this, I would have hired the nanny to come and help mom clean up."
As they listened, their expressions kept changing.
"Stella, don't act so arrogant. I gave you this good life. Don't be so shameless."
Emily roared in frustration.
When I heard this, I sneered and said, "Emily, Kevin is still here, but you are talking like this. Do you look down on Kevin?"
