Chapter 3
The wedding date was set.
Emily and I got married on the same day.
The reason why Mary didn't want to hold another wedding for me was to save money.
Sitting in the room, I looked at the only two quilts Mary prepared for me.
However, Emily's living room was filled with gifts. She also received gold, cash, and a car.
I also communicated with Johnathan in advance that my family didn't prepare many things for my wedding.
He called and said, "It's okay. I've asked my secretary, Zoe to arrange it. Don't worry."
When I heard his words, I felt relieved.
Time was up.
The cars to pick up the brides were ready at the door.
Emily and I went downstairs one after the other.
I looked at the two rows of wedding cars in front of me. On one side were supercars with exquisite and luxurious decorations, and on the other side were ordinary decorated sedans that could be found anywhere.
Emily also saw this scene.
The corners of her mouth twitched in embarrassment.
Neighbors standing outside the community whispered, "One of the two daughters of the Collins family married well, and the other..."
"The other one is just unlucky and can't find such a good man."
Their words reached Emily's ears.
I saw her expression keep changing.
The two were still comparing and saying, "Look at that young one. She's wearing custom-made clothes. I saw them online. The older one..."
Emily lowered her head to glance at the hem of her skirt, fiddling with it angrily, feeling uncomfortable.
Her gloomy face was in stark contrast to the smiling face of Kevin.
I had a faint smile, without much emotion.
But Emily thought I looked arrogant.
She said sarcastically, "Stella, you should cherish the happy time you have now, after all, there won't be many such glorious moments."
I glanced at her and smiled, saying, "Yes, Emily, you should cherish it, after all, today is your happiest day."
"Humph!" she turned her head away and sneered, saying, "You can't live happily like this forever."
"You'd better be humble!"
Johnathan took my hand and walked towards the car, and I looked back at Emily.
"But, Emily, your happiness will disappear from today."
Chapter 4
The wedding was over very quickly.
But people in our city had been talking about my marriage into the Park family.
They all envied me for being able to marry a local wealthy businessman and often compared me to Emily.
Emily also smiled with gritted teeth and said that I had married well.
But she said her husband would also be successful in the future.
I ignored the gossip.
On the first day of moving into my new home, I found my mother-in-law Alice and told her that I wanted to continue my studies.
When she heard this, her face showed a hint of appreciation.
She should have investigated me before I married into her family.
I was adopted by Mary, and after I finished college, Mary refused to let me continue my graduate studies.
She forced me to get married as soon as possible.
I could only give up my qualifications for admission to graduate school.
Now that I had the opportunity, I would naturally not give up.
More importantly, I had to improve my abilities to avoid the same situation as in the previous life from happening again.
"Since you have this idea, I naturally support you," she took a sip of coffee and then said.
"But you can't delay having a child."
She looked at Johnathan meaningfully.
I looked up and met his eyes.
I stared at him straight. His ears turned red and he turned his eyes away shyly.
"I got it, mom. I have some things to deal with at the company. I'll go take care of them first."
After saying that, he left quickly.
In the evening, Johnathan came back at one o'clock in the morning.
He pushed the door open and was a little surprised to see that I was still awake. He stared at me for a moment and managed to say, "I'll take a shower first."
Chapter 5
I looked at the new computer Alice bought for me and rubbed my eyes.
If he hadn't come back, I wouldn't have known it was so late.
I looked at the sorted information, all of which were about how Joseph had deceived Johnathan in his previous life.
I had to be prepared for everything. Moreover, things were about to happen.
It was better to prepare early.
I heard the bathroom door open.
Johnathan walked out wearing black silk pajamas, with a few water droplets on the ends of his hair.
He raised his hand and put it into his hair, randomly brushing it, and walked towards the bed.
"What are you looking at?"
I came to my senses and found myself staring at him, so looked back at the computer screen with embarrassment.
He lifted a corner of the quilt and crawled in, looking sideways at me and saying, "Are you investigating my uncle?"
I took two deep breaths and looked at him, saying, "I am going to continue my study, so I want to analyze and see if I have forgotten the knowledge I learned before with your uncle as an example."
It happened that the major I studied in college in my previous life helped me a lot, otherwise, it would have been difficult for me after my rebirth.
He came closer with interest.
The breath he blew past the tips of my ears and I felt shy.
There had never been a man so close to me, so I almost couldn't control myself.
He suddenly pointed at my screen and asked, "Where did you get this data?"
I looked over and saw that it was the project he and Joseph were collaborating on.
I said seriously, "I asked my mother to give me this. Look here." I checked the next few pages.
It was about the companies that Joseph had acquired in recent years. I had made some analysis and comments below.
Without exception, they were insolvent and bankrupt.
He watched silently, showing no emotion.
I understood and said, "Perhaps, you should review it again."
"Send this to me and have a good rest tonight. I will go back to the company now."
