Chapter 1

My roommate, Nora Simmons, liked to take advantage of others.

The emerald bracelet I brought from my hometown appeared on her wrist the next day.

I quickly asked her to take it off. "This is a lucky bracelet with a spell. If anyone else besides its owner wears it, it will only bring bad luck."

Instead of following my advice, she still wore it and accused me of being a stingy girl who cursed her. However, she fell down the stairs the very next day.

And she still blamed me for allowing her to wear my bracelet and bringing her bad luck. "Emily Foster, I broke my leg because I was wearing your bracelet. You must compensate for me!"

Maybe she thought the compensation would be of great luck.

Little did she know that her misfortune had just begun.

When I was about to graduate, my mother, Lila Scott, mailed me an emerald bracelet from my hometown.

The emerald on it was so pure and glamorous, emitting a soft luster.

But just when I went downstairs to pick up a takeout, the bracelet was on the wrist of Nora.

Striking the bracelet, she felt reluctant to take it off.

She hinted to me eagerly, "Emily, this bracelet fits me perfectly. Is it my birthday present?"

I was appalled. "Nora, it's a lucky bracelet. My mother bought it for me. It has been blessed with a unique curse that will bring anyone beside its owner who wears it bad luck! Take it off now!"

Nora was displeased immediately.

"What are you talking about? Stop trying to freak me out! I'm so unlucky to be sharing a dorm with someone like you." After saying that, she shook off the bracelet and threw it on my bed.

I quickly put the bracelet away.

Fortunately, she didn't throw it to the ground; otherwise, if it was broken, she would be doomed.

Lila sent me the bracelet with a special note, repeatedly warning me that I should keep it close to my body for fourteen days before I could wear it.

Therefore, I deliberately put it in the innermost pocket of my clothes.

But the next day, when I was changing clothes after swimming class, I found that the bracelet in my pocket was missing.

I quickly called my boyfriend, Riley Wilson, and asked him if he had seen my bracelet because he was the one who put my clothes in a locker near the pool and kept the key to it.

But he just kept changing the subject.

His reaction got on my nerves. "Did you take it? You can't wear it because it will make you unlucky..."

Before I could finish my words, Riley interrupted me irritably.

"Can you stop you being so suspicious all the time? I don't need your bracelet. You must forget where you put it." After saying that, he hung up the phone angrily.

But after searching every corner of the lockers in the locker room and my dormitory, I still couldn't find it.

Just when I was about to tell Lila in a down mood on the phone, I received a message from my best friend, Susan Edwards.

Chapter 2

It was a very blurry video clip.

Susan: [Emily, is this guy in the video your boyfriend?]

My heart sank as I confirmed the man in the video was indeed Riley.

Although the video was taken from behind, I still recognized him at first sight.

Under the dim light of the restaurant's private room, he was sitting next to a girl, celebrating her birthday.

Judging from their intimate posture, they must have an affair.

Suddenly, I noticed that the girl next to him was wearing an emerald bracelet that was almost exactly the same as the lucky bracelet I lost.

The anger hit my brain so hard that I almost fainted.

I asked Susan if she knew the girl next to Riley in the video clip.

After typing for a long time, she replied: [Don't you think this girl looks familiar?]

I looked carefully and almost fainted again.

It was Nora.

I suddenly recalled that today was her birthday, and according to her habit, she would have returned to the dormitory now.

But today, she didn't return to the dormitory until midnight.

As a dance student, Nora transferred to our dormitory in the second semester of her sophomore year.

With her smooth skin, cute appearance and slim figure, she had a gift to attract others' care.

Our teacher asked me to take care of her since she came from a poor family, so I always shared my snacks and drinks with her.

But I didn't expect that this habit would make Nora feel that she could treat whatever belonged to me as hers.

She even wore the emerald bracelet Lila sent me on her hand openly.

Meanwhile, she stuck to Riley and me with an excuse to save more money on meals.

But she was already a well-known dance host on the Internet and could totally afford good meals herself.

At that time, I thought she was just used to eating with me, but it turned out that she had been hooking up with my boyfriend for a long time.

I quickly took out my cell phone and called Nora, but no one answered the call.

Just when I was about to send her a message, her new post on Instagram popped up.

Nora: [My crush sent me the gift I have longed for. Double surprise!]

There were two pictures below.

One photo showed Nora leaning on a boy's shoulder intimately.

The other picture was her wrist, and what she was wearing on it was the lucky bracelet that I had lost.

To be honest, there were countless designs for a bracelet. But the unique decorative pattern on this bracelet made me so sure that it was the one Lila sent to me.

In terms of the pattern, I could conclude someone stole my bracelet and presented it to her.

And from the shoulder she leaned on, I knew he was Riley, who had been in a relationship with me for two years.

The bracelet I lost in the morning appeared on Nora's wrist now.

Obviously, Riley stole my emerald bracelet to please her.

Or maybe she asked him to steal it from me since she couldn't just take it away from me so blatantly.

The irresistible rage surged from my heart.

His oath that he would only be loyal to me was shattered by himself the moment he cheated on me with my roommate.

It was so disgusting that such a bastard actually existed in the world.

Chapter 3

No matter what, I had to get the bracelet back first before anything terrible happened to her.

But Nora didn't return to the dormitory all night, and none of our roommates could get in touch with her.

I just sent her a message.

Emily: [Nora, what you are wearing is the lucky bracelet that was linked to me with a spell. It will indeed bring bad luck to any other wearer than me. I didn't mean to scare you because what I said was all true. Please return it to me now. Otherwise I can't help you if something bad really happens.]

But unexpectedly, neither did Nora return it nor was she willing to receive my messages again.

The next day, at noon, I finally managed to see Riley at the entrance of the teaching building.

Without further ado, I directly showed him the photos from Nora's Instagram.

Being stunned for a moment, he still refused to surrender.

He said, "Emily, I don't know what you mean with this photo, but she is merely a friend of mine. Besides, every bracelet looks like that. Isn't it too suspicious for you to accuse me with a blurry photo?"

I rolled my eyes and clicked the video Susan sent to me.

Riley's face was visibly pale.

"Why did you spy on my life? I just celebrated her birthday! There were other people at her birthday party, and you can't prove I cheated on you with a single photo," he said.

I laughed. "I wonder whether you can still be so confident after watching the whole video."

At the end of the video, Nora kissed him on the face as if no one was around, and he did not avoid it but hugged her tightly in his arms.

As the video approached its end, Riley fell dead silent.

However, Nora suddenly appeared and stood in front of him. "Emily, don't think you can do whatever you want with your money. If Riley had been unable to pay the tuition, he wouldn't have been with an ugly bitch like you."

"I'm telling you, his true love is me. He endured the disgust and stayed with you for two years. For two years, to please you, he has lived like a slave. Isn't that enough? Now you are embarrassing him in public. You are going too far," she added.

Riley hurried to stop her from blurting out his true intention, but Nora spoke even louder.

I looked at him with disappointment on my face.

"Riley, do you really think so?" I asked.

Without responding to me, Riley might just want to save face for himself in front of Nora.

I snorted coldly. "In that case, I'll break up with you."

I hired a lawyer and got back all the money I had spent on him in the past two years.

Since he didn't have so much money to repay my debt, he probably begged Nora to use the money she got from the SuperChats.

But even though she helped him pay back all the money, she didn't return my lucky bracelet.
