Chapter 1

I went to my internship with an LV bag.

My colleagues talked about me behind my back.

"She is Mr. Lawson's mistress. I saw her get out of his car."

The next day, my college roommate, who was doing the internship together with me, blocked me in the stairwell.

"I wondered why you were so arrogant, and it turns out you are a mistress."

"I will be Mr. Lawson's son's wife. You'd better stay away from Mr. Lawson. Otherwise, don't blame me for being rude."

I was confused.

I didn't know my dad had a son and that his son had a wife.

"Do you know the new intern? She is Mr. Lawson's mistress."

"I saw her get out of his car."

"How could a college student be so shameless? She would like to be someone's mistress at such a young age instead of working hard "

"There are so many temptations. Being a mistress is a shortcut to making money quickly. Did you see her bag? It is the latest style and worth tens of thousands of dollars."

I sat on the toilet, quietly listening to people outside talking about me.

After only one day of internship, I became famous.

It was just because I had an LV bag and went to work in a Maybach.

I stood up and straightened my clothes. Then, I pushed the door open to go out.

The few people, who were talking enthusiastically just now, looked at each other when they saw me. They were so embarrassed that they didn't know what to do.

I walked over and washed my hands. After taking out a tissue to wipe the water on my hands, I turned around and smiled at them.

"My bag is fake, and it only cost 580 dollars."

"Do you want to buy it? I recommend it to you."

They waved their hands and refused me.

I returned to my workstation with satisfaction and started to squeeze my stress-relieving tool.

At that moment, Alisha Cook, the department director, sent me a message.

"Sort out the customer data for the past year and give it to me before work tomorrow."

I glanced at Alisha. She was sitting in the office chatting with Linda Stewart, my college roommate. I understood everything immediately.

Alisha wanted to settle personal grudges with an excuse of work.

I wanted to gain some work experience during the summer vacation, so I had an internship.

However, I didn't expect to meet Lind on my first day in the company.

Lind was my college roommate, and we didn't get along well.

She couldn't stand my arrogance, and I looked down on her histrionics and materialism.

She had always enjoyed mocking and suppressing me, and I have always treated her as a fool.

This company was a well-known listed enterprise in Aleyon with a history and a huge scale. With Linda's ability and academic qualifications, it was impossible for her to enter such a company.

When I saw her being intimate with Alisha, I understood everything.

It turned out that Linda had a relative here.

Lind walked past my workstation proudly, holding a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

"You attract attention wherever you go. As soon as you entered the company, you have received so much work to do."

"I am different. Alisha only asked me to walk around to get familiar with everyone."

From the pile of documents, I looked up and rolled my eyes at Linda.

"Even if you don't speak, no one will think you're dumb. If you want to attract attention, I can just give you my job."

Linda's face immediately turned gloomy.

"Kailey, no matter how proud you are at school, you have to be humble once you leave school."

I snatched the coffee cup from Linda and drank the coffee in one gulp. Then, I glanced at her gorgeous dress.

"It's better than being tasteless."

Linda stomped so angrily that she almost broke her legs.

The next day, as soon as I entered the company, I noticed that everyone was strangely looking at me.

I didn't expect office gossip to spread so quickly.

During the lunch break, I thought that there were too many people at the canteen and wanted to go downstairs later, so I went to the stairs to get some fresh air first.

As soon as I reached the stairs, I was pushed by someone and blocked into the stairwell.

After seeing who it was, I started cursing.

"Linda, what's wrong with you? If you have nothing to do, go to the hospital and check your head."

Unexpectedly, Linda kept a straight face and stared at me with contempt.

"I wondered why you were so arrogant, and it turns out you are a mistress."

I frowned.

"Linda, I would rather be your mom instead of someone's mistress. You'd better keep your mouth shut."

Linda poked me so hard that her long nails made me hurt.

"I will be Mr. Lawson's son's wife. You'd better stay away from Mr. Lawson. Otherwise, don't blame me for being rude."

I was confused.

I didn't know my dad had a son and that his son had a wife.

Chapter 2

I shook off Linda's hand and laughed in anger.

"Linda, I think you have some kind of paranoia. Since we are classmates, how about I make an appointment for you? Can you go and see a doctor?"

Hearing what I said, Linda didn't get angry. She crossed her arms and looked at me condescendingly.

"I know you don't believe me, but I have to tell you that my boyfriend is Gilbert Lawson, Mr. Braiden Lawson's son."

"He is now the sales manager and will soon take over the group from Mr. Braiden Lawson. If you offend me, you will be punished sooner or later."

Gilbert Lawson. The name sounded familiar, so I went home and called my mom, who was traveling abroad.

"You're talking about Gilbert. He's from the same village as your dad. He just graduated. And it just so happened that he studied sales management."

"Gilbert is a handsome man with excellent eloquence. After he was employed, he signed several contracts for the company. Your dad promoted him to manager."

"Your dad hopes you and Gilbert may be a couple. Do you want to meet him?"

Hearing that, I quickly made an excuse and hung up the phone.

Since Gilbert was from the same village as my dad, why did Linda say that he was my dad’s son?

There must be something wrong. In order not to alert them, I decided not to tell my parents about it for the time being.

"Work out the design plan for the client and give it to me before you get off work tomorrow."

As soon as I got to work, Alisha gave me a stack of documents.

The client was the Collins Group.

"Alisha, is it appropriate to give such a big project to an intern like me?"

"Just do what you're told to do. Stop wasting time. If you can do it, just do it. If you can't, leave here soon," Alisha said impatiently, slamming the table.

She was so loud that everyone in the office looked over.

"What if I mess it up?" I asked calmly.

"If you mess it up, you have to leave here too."

With that, Alisha turned and went back to her office.

It was obvious that she wanted to drive me away.

As soon as Alisha left, the office was in an uproar. Everyone was whispering.

"Alisha is so brave. She even dared to offend Mr. Lawson's mistress. Isn't Alisha afraid that she will be fired if Kailey complains about her in front of Mr. Lawson?"

"Alisha is not afraid of the powerful."

"There's no need to take advantage of the project of the Collins Group. It’s obvious that she doesn’t want Kailey to stay in the industry."

I glanced at everyone, and everyone immediately shut up.

Linda came over with a smile, leaning on my workstation and looking down at me.

"Kailey, if you beg me for mercy, I may let you go."

"Do you think you're Mr. Lawson’s son’s wife? Linda, don't you know who you are? Don’t you look into the mirror when you go out?"

As I said that, I took out a mirror from my bag and handed it to her.

Linda was so angry that she looked pale.

"You are so shameless. I am waiting for the day when you beg for mercy."

When I was waiting for Wallace Collins to call me in the underground garage after getting off work, I accidentally saw Linda walking out of the elevator with a smile.

Then, she got into a white Audi. Its license plate number was somewhat familiar.

As soon as Linda got into the car, the man in the car hugged her. Linda smiled shyly and leaned forward.

The Audi started and drove past my car. It slowly left the garage.

At that moment, I remembered the license plate number. Wasn’t it my car?

It was a birthday present my mom gave me the year before.

Chapter 3

Things turned more and more interesting, and I was more and more curious about Gilbert.

How dare he cheat others under the name of my family?

I was about to drive to catch up with Gilbert when Wallace called me.

"Hello, what can I do for you?"

"I wanted to ask you what kind of design you wanted our company to make, but now there is something more important."

"Is there anything more important than mine?" Wallace asked dissatisfiedly.

"Help me investigate a man."

As soon as I finished my words, Wallace got excited.

"A man? Who is he? Do you have a boyfriend behind my back?"

"Stop talking nonsense. He’s from the same village as my dad. He depended on my dad and joined our company. However, I found that he was strange. Can you help me investigate him?"

Wallace finally felt relieved after hearing what I said.

Wallace was my childhood friend. We grew up together. After high school, he went abroad to study, while I didn't go abroad.

Although we were thousands of miles apart, we had always kept in touch.

The next day, it was almost time to get off work. Everyone was waiting to laugh at me, but I handed the design plan to Alisha on time.

Alisha took my design plan with surprise and opened it in doubt.

After reading it, Alisha fell silent. Then, she closed the plan and smiled at me.

"I've read the plan. It's pretty good. You can go home early today. I'll give it to the Collins Group for review tomorrow."

I went back to my workstation to pack up my things, but I heard noises from Linda. A group of people surrounded her.

"Linda, is it a Chanel bag?"

"It must be expensive. Linda, it isn't a fake one, is it?"

Linda rolled her eyes at the one, who asked the question, and handed the bag to her.

"Of course, it's not fake. How can I carry a fake bag?"

Linda raised her voice and looked at me smugly.

"I'm not like someone who embarrassed herself by carrying a fake bag."

Everyone knew she was talking about me and looked at me mockingly.

"Kailey, come over and take a look. It feels better than your fake bag."

"It is different from the fake one."

I never had the habit of being a deserter. Since they invited me, I immediately walked over and took over Linda's bag.

"It's pretty good. Linda, have you made a fortune?"

Linda immediately took back the bag and looked at me with disgust.

"Be careful. Don't touch it. Do you know how much it costs?"

"It is made of rare leather and worth more than twenty thousand dollars," I answered without hesitation.

After hearing the price, the colleagues present all looked at Linda with envy.

However, I stared at the blue bag in Linda's hand and fell into deep thought.

"My boyfriend is waiting for me downstairs, so I'm leaving now."

Linda looked at the envious eyes of the crowd and left with satisfaction. Before leaving, she glanced at me smugly.

After getting off work, I didn't go home but returned to my parents' old house.

After rummaging around in my cloakroom, I was sure about one thing.

Linda's bag was mine.
