Chapter 1
After a bird decided to drop a load of crap on my face, I realized my mouth had been "blessed."
While doing the laundry, I casually said, “Wouldn’t it be nice if the washing machine could shake out some money?”
To my shock, the washing machine actually spat out fifty thousand yuan.
Then, I muttered under my breath, “Well, if the window were open, could the wind blow money into my house too?”
I was just joking.
But then, a gust of wind blew my window open, and countless bills fluttered into my living room.
I couldn’t believe it—I had developed the power to summon cash.
...
After finishing the college entrance exams, my mom, suffering from depression, overdosed on sleeping pills and slipped into a coma.
I went to my dad, asking for child support to cover her hospital bills.
But when I walked in, I was met by my dad’s mistress, Tina, who didn’t hold back with her insults.
“Oh, look who it is—Clara. Running out of money already?”
I gave her a once-over and replied, “Don’t you guys have any money for air fresheners?”
“What do you mean by that? You want money from me too?” she snapped.
“No wonder the air always smells like trash around here,” I shot back.
Tina, furious, started to march toward me, but just then, my dad appeared.
He quickly tried to play the injured party. “Clara, you’re being too sensitive. I just wanted to know if you’ve run out of money. If so, Auntie can help you out.”
Seeing this, my dad rushed forward and scolded, “Clara, what’s your problem? You can’t talk to people without being rude. Tina may not be perfect, but she’s your elder. You should at least show some respect.”
“Respect? What do you expect me to call her? The third-wife aunt?” I sneered at Tina, who, for some reason, started wiping fake tears from her eyes.
My dad, now fuming, was about to lecture me when his precious daughter, Kitty, rushed in.
“Big sister, it's bad enough that you disrespect my mom, but now you’re disrespecting Dad too?”
“My mom only asked you about money because she thought you came here empty-handed. You’ve really hurt Dad’s feelings.”
Kitty’s voice, sweet and sickening, made my skin crawl.
“Look at your sister, Clara. She’s so thoughtful,” my dad praised.
“You always come empty-handed. Why not bring a fruit basket for once, like you used to?” he added, shaking his head.
I clenched my fists. “In three months, I turn eighteen. Give me the full child support at once. I won’t come begging for money again.”
My dad was furious. “What, are you planning to cut ties with me after you get the money? Ungrateful little brat.”
“Back then, I asked you to stay with me, but you insisted on going through all that crap with your mom.”
I smirked. “I’m afraid of crowded places—can’t stand being around so many scheming people.”
My dad threw two thousand yuan at me. “You’re probably just going to waste it. From now on, the child support will come monthly, and not a penny more.”
My dad worked at a bank, so we were far from poor.
Mom had suffered complications during childbirth, and after I was born, she couldn’t have any more kids.
My grandmother secretly found my dad another woman, and they had another daughter.
When I was seventeen, my parents divorced because that woman gave my dad a son.
As I left my dad’s place, a bird took aim and dropped its poop right into my mouth.
I gagged and knelt on the ground, vomiting for a while.
“Hey! What the hell are you doing? Why are you puking right outside our shop?”
“I’m sorry! I just couldn’t hold it in. I’ll clean up in a second.”
The guy, noticing my red eyes, didn’t say much more.
After I finished cleaning, he handed me a bottle of water his brother had given me.
I couldn’t help but cry again. “Thank you. What’s your name?”
“I’m Sean, and that’s my brother, Zane.”
“Sean, come on. Dinner’s ready,” Zane called impatiently.
Just then, my stomach betrayed me, growling loudly enough for everyone to hear. I wanted to disappear into the ground.
Sean quickly turned around and said, “Zane, let her join us for dinner too.”
Chapter 2
“You can’t even feed yourself, and yet you’re pitying others?” Zane laughed while scolding Sean.
He turned to me, coldly saying, “Come in. Eat, then leave. Don’t think you can stay here!”
I watched as Zane fed his sister with a spoon at the table. His sister seemed different from other kids. Sean told me that she was five years old and still couldn’t speak, possibly due to autism.
The two brothers were working hard to make money and take her to a hospital for children with autism.
Zane seemed to think Sean and I were talking too much for strangers, so he interrupted us.
After dinner, I went to the hospital. I paid, but it wasn’t enough.
I begged the doctor for one more day.
After helping my mom change her clothes, I went home to figure something out.
While doing laundry, I casually muttered, “If only the washing machine could shake out some money.”
To my shock, my washing machine really shook out fifty thousand yuan.
Then I whispered, “What if I open the window and let the wind blow the money into my house?”
I was just joking.
But then a gust of wind blew open my window, and countless bills fluttered into my living room.
I thought I must have been blessed with some sort of magic.
On my way to the hospital, I kept trying it, but it seemed like the magic had worn off.
That was until I bought a hot dog and casually asked, “How much is it?”
To my surprise, I found 12 yuan in my pocket, and that’s when I finally realized what was happening.
I couldn’t believe it. I had money-making abilities.
I paid my mom’s medical bills and even upgraded her to a private room.
“Clara, where did you get this money from? Have you been hiding something from me?” My mom said, her eyes red and filled with emotion.
“Mom, don’t worry. I earned it with my own abilities. Just focus on getting better. I’ll have a surprise for you when you get home!”
During the time my mom was recovering, I spent my days figuring out ways to make money.
Eventually, I became so exhausted that hearing the word “money” made me want to vomit.
I decided to deposit the money into several large banks.
This morning, I went to the bank with the money. When I reached the last one, I realized it was the bank where my dad worked.
I wore a mask and carried the money into the bank. My dad rushed over to greet me and help.
I was worried he might recognize me, so I quickly turned to another staff member and said, “Could you assist me? You seem more pleasant to deal with.”
“Of course, please follow me,” the staff member said enthusiastically.
My dad was confused but also disappointed to lose a potential commission.
After I finished, I told him, “I have another sum of money to deposit, but I can’t carry it on my own.”
When he reported it, the bank sent an armored truck to my house to collect the money.
Because of my deposit, my dad’s bank vice-manager was promoted to manager, and my dad was also promoted to vice-manager.
Of course, he had no idea it was my money.
The commotion caused by the armored truck coming to my house to collect the money was too much. It was clear that I couldn’t stay in this neighborhood anymore.
So, I decided it was time to buy a house.
I hired a private car to take my mom home from the hospital. On the way, she looked a little down.
She was expecting a big surprise from me when we got home.
Instead, as soon as she entered, she collapsed on the floor crying. While sobbing, she said:
“Clara, I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have made you sacrifice so much at such a young age.”
“Mom, I won’t take any more medicine. Please, don’t hang around that person anymore.”
What?? I was completely baffled.
My mom thought I had been “kept” by someone and that’s how I had money.
“Mom, where are you getting these ideas from? Do you even remember how our family fell apart?”
“Do you really think I would become someone’s mistress? I hate mistresses, how could I possibly do that?!”
My mom asked, “Then tell me the truth, how did you get the money?”
Chapter 3
"Mom, do you believe the wind can bring money?"
My mom was so mad she looked like she was about to hit me. I had no choice but to show her myself.
I stood up, raised my hands, and closed my eyes. "Great wind, please blow some money my mom's way!"
Immediately, a gust of wind swept through the room, and bills, like snowflakes, fell over my mom.
That was when she finally believed in my "money-blowing" powers.
Ever since my mom found out about this, I felt like she was half-recovered.
Today, I specifically went to find Zane and Sean.
Before heading to their shop, I did some digging.
Their parents had divorced, their mom remarried, and their dad passed away from illness a year ago.
Zane worked at a pool hall, taking care of his younger siblings.
Because Zane had a reputation for being fearless in fights and could control the scene, the boss allowed him and his siblings to live at the shop.
I went to the front desk and paid for a day's worth of play.
But since I didn’t know how to play, I just kept watching Zane.
It didn’t take long for him to get uncomfortable under my gaze. "You paid to watch, but you're just staring at me. Are you in love with me?"
The intensity of his presence caught me off guard. I swallowed hard and stammered, "Wha—what? No, no! I came here today to ask you for a favor!"
For some reason, whenever I faced him, my words seemed to get tangled.
"What could you possibly need from me? I just watch the place for people."
Zane’s long hair covered his eyes, and all I could see was his tall nose and his thin, red lips.
"Zane, can we step aside and talk?"
I had booked a private room at a restaurant.
I told him I had a job for him, and that I’d pay him immediately after he finished.
Zane laughed, thinking I was joking.
But when I pulled out twenty thousand yuan from my backpack and handed it to him, he started to believe me.
He asked what I needed him to do, and I told him I hadn’t figured that out yet, but I’d call him when I did.
At that time, Zane was struggling with money, and my appearance was a timely relief for him.
"I’m Clara. Thanks again for letting me stay for dinner last time."
"If this money is for the dinner, you don’t need to do that. I don’t need your help."
I quickly responded, "No, it’s not for the dinner. I need your help. Can you find me a truck? I’ll contact you in a couple of days."
Today was the last time I was visiting my dad.
I came to get him to help me apply for a passport, so I could go to college.
Kitty saw me and sarcastically said, "So, you’re empty-handed again today? Dad’s really been wasting his time on you all these years."
"How do you know I didn’t buy anything? Just because you have filial piety, doesn’t mean others don’t," I shot back.
It seemed like my dad had been promoted, and he was in a good mood.
"Alright, stop fighting. We’re family. There’s no need to argue right when we meet."
I told my dad that I had bought him a lot of things, and they would be delivered in the afternoon.
The mother and daughter exchanged incredulous but also slightly amused looks, as if they thought I was pretending to be rich.
I explained that I came to see him today to apply for a passport.
"Ah, so that’s why you’re buying things for dad. You’re just here to ask for something!" Kitty said with obvious disdain.
I whispered to her, "If you want me to come by more often, you better stop shouting like that."
At that moment, Tina quickly pulled my dad's hand and urgently said, "Richard, Clara's request is important. You should go with her and get it done right away!"
The two of them were clearly eager for me to leave, constantly rushing us to hurry up with the passport process.
