My Husband Sacrificed My Daughter

My husband persuaded my daughter to donate her kidney to save his lover. After the surgery, he stayed by his lover’s side and neglected my daughter who developed kidney failure that led to her death.

When I confronted the nasty couple, they refused to believe that my daughter had passed away and kicked me out by force.

After my husband, Leo Barton, sent me back to my hometown for a month, he used this window to remove my daughter’s kidney to save his childhood sweetheart, Rosette Smith.

While his childhood sweetheart was rescued, my daughter caught a severe case of acute kidney failure due to an infection.

When I rushed to the hospital to see my daughter, she strained a smile and whimpered, “Mom… I saved Aunt Rosette. Does that mean… does that mean that Dad won’t leave us?”

Her pupils had become dilated and her arms drooped off the side of the bed. She died with her eyes open.

I sat stunned in silence by the bed, feeling as if someone had gouged out my heart.

I started frantically calling Leo, and as soon as the call was connected, I heard him saying, “Rosette, I'm here. I won’t leave you! Your body just has a mild reaction to the new kidney. You’ll be okay after you get some rest back home.”

Before I could even get a word out, he roared into the phone to shut me up, “Why are you being so dramatic? Can’t you just drop it already? I have better things to do than stirring up drama all day like you!”

Then, he hung up on me. The droning tone on the phone stung my nerves. I dug my nails into my palms and felt a spark of anger inside me.

My beloved daughter was gone. They had to pay for this!

I endured the grief and anger that threatened to overwhelm me and proceeded to ask the nurse more about my daughter's hospitalization process.

To my surprise, I was told that after enduring such a significant operation, my daughter was given nothing but regular takeout food to eat every day.

She experienced a case of malnutrition and dehydration over time. Eventually, she caught a fever that caused her condition to deteriorate and eventually killed her.

Leo ignored her the entire time because he was too busy staying with Rosette in her ward.

I could not contain my anger anymore at this point and stormed into the VIP ward on the top floor.

When I reached the ward, I saw a group of people standing outside with large bouquets and fruit hampers. They were employees from Leo's company. They tried to stop me when they recognized me, but I managed to shove all of their filthy hands out of my way. They were too intimidated to stop me.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

I pounded on the door.

“Leo, come out here right now!”

The moment I saw the door open, I grabbed him by his collar and started pummeling him.

“Leo! How could you sacrifice your daughter for Rosette?! How dare she take my daughter's kidney? What gives her the right to take my daughter’s kidney? Give me my daughter’s kidney. Give my daughter back to me!”

With that, I charged into the VIP ward like a maniac.

I seemed to have triggered something primal in Leo. In an instant, he lifted me off of my feet as if I weighed nothing at all. Then, he slammed me to the ground.

His eyes were bloodshot with anger and resentment as he hissed at me, “Rosette just fell asleep. You’d better stop causing trouble here, or I won’t hold back!

“Dianne was the one who opted to donate her kidney to Rosette. Unlike you, she has a shred of compassion!”

I felt dizzy when my head smacked against the floor. I could taste the metallic scent of blood on my tongue and started to retch. I felt as if my bones had snapped, and the pain was unbearable.

Regardless of how much it hurt physically, it could not compare to the pain of the loss of my daughter.

I clenched my teeth and pulled myself up to my feet. When I got up, a burst of strength surged from nowhere. I charged forward and slapped Leo across the face.

All the emotion I had been suppressing burst out for the first time. This also marked the first time I had ever hit him.

“If Dianne voluntarily donated her kidney to Rosette, why did you try to take me out of the picture? Do you know our daughter has already…”

“Enough!”

Leo clenched his jaw and suddenly grew menacing. He would not suffer humiliation in front of so many people. Immediately, he shoved me away and did not give me the chance to speak.

“Consider the slap a price I have to pay for keeping this a secret from you. I’m warning you now, Clarice Evans, you’d better not cross the line.

“Also, Rosette is going to get discharged today. I don’t want her to have to deal with any more stress than she needs to. Get out of here right now!”

Rosette this, Rosette that! He only had eyes for Rosette!
