Chapter 1

My husband, Xylo Green, fell in love with the locust tree in our yard. At night, he would wrap his arms around it and kiss it.

One day, my dad decided to plant vegetables in the yard, so he cut the tree down.

The tree died in the morning, and by midnight, our whole family was gone.

Suddenly, I was reincarnated to the day when Xylo was passionately chasing after me.

He looked at me lovingly and said, “Olivia, can I be yours?”

I smiled flatly. I did not want him anymore, but I would definitely take his life!

On the first day I was reincarnated, my dad brought Xylo Green home for dinner.

At this point, my parents were trying to set me up with him.

The locust tree in the yard was blooming, with white flowers all over it since it was May.

I could not help but think back to my past life. The tree always had strange, dried, yogurt-like liquid stuck to it. At first, no one in the family paid attention to it.

Once, I told Xylo quite seriously, “This might be some mysterious secretion from insects.”

He cared a lot for the tree. In summer, he watered it, and in winter, he brought out blankets to keep it warm.

He would talk to the tree and share his feelings with it from time to time.

He often said, “Locust, the moon is beautiful tonight. You should enjoy it.”

He said the tree’s name with so much love as though it was his lover many lifetimes ago.

At first, we did not think much of it. We even thought he was just a compassionate person.

My dad once told me confidently, “Look how well Xylo treats the tree. He’ll treat you even better! Your mom and I will be at ease if you’re with him.”

But we were blind to the truth.

One night, I accidentally saw him with his pants down. He was hugging the tree, kissing it, and caressing it.

Not just that, he was actually dirty talking to the tree!

I was so startled as though I had seen something barbaric. I could not believe what I saw. The charming person I was with turned out to be a pervert.

“Olivia, I hope you don’t mind me. If I can be with you, I’ll consider myself lucky. No, not just lucky… It feels like fate is on my side.”

Xylo’s words snapped me back to reality. He was waiting eagerly for my answer.

He wore a well-fitted suit. He had broad shoulders, a slim waist, long legs, short, neatly styled hair, thick eyebrows, big eyes, and a sharp nose. He was incredibly handsome.

In my past life, I was charmed by his looks and happily married him.

But after the wedding, I realized that his abs, long legs, and physique were all just for show.

He felt guilty and kept eating supplements in front of me, but it did not change anything.

However, when it came to the locust tree in our yard, he seemed perfectly fine.

It was incredibly frustrating. While it did not harm me directly, I still felt humiliated.

I could accept it if I were ugly or overweight, but I had a good figure and nice features!

Just thinking about it made me sick.

My dad urged me to respond. “Olivia, why aren’t you saying anything?”

I tried to sound casual. “I’m still young. I don’t want to get married just yet. Maybe in a few years…”

My parents looked at me in shock.

In my past life, I was obsessed with Xylo by this point. I had even told my parents more than once that I would marry no one but him.

Xylo was a fairly well-known lawyer. Two years ago, my dad hired him for a legal case.

He helped my dad win the case, and my dad really liked him after that.

Later, my dad found out that Xylo was not only single but also an orphan. He was delighted and wanted to set us up.

Since I was an only child, my parents wanted to find a son-in-law who would join our family.

Chapter 2

Xylo was the perfect choice.

But he joined our family not for me but for the tree!

Xylo was shocked momentarily. He did not expect me to reject him.

When he left, I noticed he shot one last reluctant glance at the locust tree in our yard.

This tree had been there for decades. It had been there since the day I was born.

It had witnessed my growth, and I had seen it bloom and fade through the seasons.

Over time, I started to smell faintly of locust flowers.

It could have remained a clean, untouched tree forever, but Xylo ruined it.

After Xylo left, I stared at the sturdy tree for a while.

It was hard to imagine someone falling in love with a tree to the extent of being intimate with it.

In my past life, my dad cut down the locust tree in the yard because he wanted to plant vegetables.

That night, Xylo killed me and my parents.

He dismembered us and threw our bodies in the sewer.

I had been reincarnated in this life, and my parents were still alive. But from the way they wanted me to be with Xylo, it was clear they did not remember our past lives.

My dad and mom asked me, “Didn’t you like Xylo? Why did you reject him?”

I knew that even if I told them about Xylo’s perversion, they would not believe me since I had no proof.

I brushed it off and said, “I don’t feel the same way about Xylo. Marriage is a big decision. I need to be careful and not rush into it.”

My dad tried to convince me. He said Xylo was a great man and choosing him was the right thing to do.

But I could not tell them that choosing him would cost us our lives.

The next day, I started looking for a new house through an agent.

In the end, I paid in full for a villa that was not too huge but also not too small.

Our current house was in the east of the city, while the new villa was in the west. They were far apart.

Since it was a second-hand house and I paid in full, the deal went through quickly.

I told my parents about the villa. I told them it would be easier for me to go to work and asked them to move into the new villa with me.

At first, they did not want to leave the old house, but for my sake, they agreed to move to the new villa.

After we moved, I decided to contact Xylo.

We met at a coffee shop.

He looked good and acted like a gentleman. No matter how I looked at him, he seemed like a classy, elegant man.

“Olivia, I thought you didn’t want to talk to me anymore.” He looked sad as if he had lost me. He looked nervous and hurt.

I had to admit that Xylo was a great actor.

He looked at me with a gaze that was full of affection. In my past life, I mistook that for love.

Later, I realized he could fake affection even with a dog.

He had been calling and texting me to check on me, but I ignored them.

I put on a fake smile and said, “Xylo, I’ve thought it over, and I don’t think we’re right for each other. That’s why I didn’t reply. I’m here today to explain.”

Xylo looked anxious. “Olivia, did I do something wrong? I really like you. Please give me a chance.”

He looked so sincere, and his acting was on point.

I took a set of keys out of my bag and said, “We bought a new house, and my parents have already moved. I heard the place you’re renting is far from your law firm. If you don’t mind, I can rent you our old house for a cheaper price.”

As soon as I said this, Xylo’s anxiety faded, and his eyes lit up in joy.

Chapter 3

I figured he must be overjoyed.

At night, he could do horrible things to that locust tree.

No, he could do it during the day too.

He was that messed up. He might even spend the whole day with the tree to satisfy himself.

He acted casual and said, “I was just thinking of moving. You really solved my problem. Thanks.”

I pretended to be polite and said, “No need to thank me. I hope everything goes well for both of us. I hope you find someone you love, and I find mine too.”

He acted disappointed and said, “I respect your decision. If we can’t be lovers, let’s just be friends.”

I smiled softly and took out the rental contract from my bag.

Since the contract needed it, I asked him for a copy of his ID.

In my past life, I never looked at his ID, even when we got married.

So, this time, I kept an eye on it.

After signing the contract, Xylo quickly moved into my family’s old house.

I quietly watched the footage on my phone from the hidden cameras I had secretly set up around the house.

As expected, once Xylo locked the door, he stripped, hugged the tree, and started calling it his wife.

I frowned as I watched him kiss the tree’s cracked bark. He did not mind the rough surface or care about the dirt.

While doing disgusting things, he said, “Honey, baby, darling, Locust, I miss you. Let’s always be together, okay?”

He stripped off completely and hugged the tree. I felt sick.

Under the bright sun, he was acting so strangely. I even started to wonder if something was wrong with his mind.

Later, he ate under the tree while talking to it.

Sunlight filtered through the branches and cast a light on his face. He smiled at the tree, and his smile was as warm as a spring breeze.

It was just him and the tree, with a table, two bowls, two sets of utensils, two meals, and a soup. It seemed like they were a couple.

Most of the time, Xylo either worked or came home to be with the tree. He kissed it countless times a day and had intimate physical relations with it every other day.

My parents were still trying to set me up with Xylo.

I showed them the disturbing video of Xylo.

They were so shocked that they could not speak.

Later, they called Xylo awful names and said he was even worse than an animal.

My dad even wanted to take the house back.

I stopped him and said, “Dad, I have a plan. Don’t tell anyone about this. If someone like him gets angry, he might do something dangerous.”

My parents listened to me and did not try to take the house back.

One day, I saw on the video that he was preparing an axe, a machete, disposable gloves, leather gloves, a mask, a black raincoat, and a meat grinder.

I felt terrified. In my past life, Xylo had used those things when he killed my parents and me.

I was worried. Who was he planning to kill?

Had my cameras been discovered?

But then I realized that it did not make sense. If he had found the cameras, he would have removed or avoided them.

All the cameras were still working.

I was so anxious I could not sleep. I just kept staring at the live surveillance footage.

After a while, I saw him hugging the tree again and crying. He said affectionately, “Locust, I would do anything for you. As long as you’re always with me.”

Then, he armed himself with an axe and machete and left the house. His figure disappeared from the cameras.

The moment that would determine whether he or I lived had begun.

This time, I had to win!
