Chapter 7

Only then did Cedric snap out of it. He grabbed his parents and brother, pulling them off me.

"Stop it. What are you doing? Let's talk about it peacefully. Violet is pregnant with my child!"

Looking at my bruised and battered body, Cedric seemed to feel a flicker of guilt.

Reese shrugged it off. "Relax, I only hit her head but didn't touch her belly."

My in-laws chimed in, "We just pinched her arms and legs and didn't even go near her belly. The baby's fine."

Lizeth stepped up. "Cedric, don't blame Reese or our parents. It's your wife's fault for being so disrespectful to her in-laws. She deserved a beating! Don't spoil her, or you'll regret it later."

After that, she looked at me smugly.

Once they finished talking, whatever guilt Cedric had felt disappeared.

I lay on the floor lonely.

Then I looked up at them.

At that moment, I knew I couldn't stay in this family. They would stop at nothing to force me to sell the house.

I couldn't even guarantee my safety.

I had to get out of there immediately.

I grabbed Cedric's hand. "Honey, my belly hurts. Please take me to the hospital."

Once I was there, I would find a way to escape.

Just when Cedric was about to agree, Kaylee shouted.

"She's not going anywhere until she agrees to sell the house."

I quickly gave in. "Kaylee, I'll agree to sell the house, but I'm in too much pain right now. Please let Cedric take me to the hospital first. You can take pictures of the house and send them to an agent in the meantime and get it listed."

Everyone's faces relaxed when they saw me finally give in.

Even Lizeth, who had just been eager to see me beaten to death, came over to help me up. "Lizeth, if only you'd figured this out sooner."

Chapter 8

Cedric took me to the hospital.

My in-laws, afraid I would run, sent pictures of the house to the real estate agent and then rushed over to the hospital as well.

The female doctor saw my tear-streaked face and asked with concern, "What happened to you?"

I glanced at Cedric fearfully, and then shook my head, replying, "Nothing. I just have some bellyache."

The doctor thought for a moment before saying, "Family members, please wait outside for a moment. Let me take her inside for an exam."

She then got up and led me into a small side room.

Once my husband and his family were outside, I showed her the bruises on my arms where my in-laws had pinched me.

They hadn't held back. The bruises were dark and covered large patches of my arms.

"What happened to you?"

The doctor's eyes widened in shock and disbelief, far more than my shameless husband had ever shown me.

I choked back tears and whispered, "Doctor, please call the police for me. If I go back with them, they'll beat me to death."

As I spoke, I lifted my bangs, revealing a large bump on my forehead, which was caused by Reese, that brute.

Outraged, the doctor immediately picked up her phone and called the police.

Chapter 9

In less than five minutes, the police arrived. About seven or eight officers showed up and immediately took control of Cedric and the others.

Reese, with his face pressed to the ground, pleaded, "Sir, just because I owe some loan sharks doesn't mean I should be arrested, right?"

My in-laws were wailing even louder, "You are just arresting people randomly! We didn't break the law!"

Lizeth was the most outrageous. She put on a full display of her street fighting tactics, rolling around on the ground.

"There's no justice! The police are arresting people for no reason! The world's falling apart! I'll take this to court! I'll demand justice!"

Cedric, trembling, didn't even get the chance to say anything.

I walked out of the room, tears streaming down my face, and pointed at my in-laws. "Sir, it was them who hit me! I'll sue them all!"

I rolled up my sleeves and lifted my bangs again, revealing my injuries to everyone.

By now, a crowd of onlookers had gathered outside, drawn by the spectacle. Among them were even a few pregnant women there for their checkups.

When they saw my bruises, they were full of sympathy and soon started cursing and condemning the Flynn family.

"Shameless! Hitting a pregnant woman? Are they even human?"

"They're worse than animals! This woman is carrying a child, and they even beat her!"

"Domestic violence against a pregnant woman? They should rot in prison for that."

The shouts and curses grew louder and louder. Even though Kaylee and Lizeth kept trying to argue, the crowd's voice drowned them out.

Seeing the situation get more chaotic, the police took the Flynn family straight to the police station.
