Chapter 3
I watched Nate get shoved to the ground in the chaos, and he bared his teeth in pain.
I just stood there with my arms crossed, enjoying the show.
It wasn't until Grace was pushed down, too, clutching her stomach and crying out, that I finally signaled my subordinates to step back.
I watched coldly as bright red blood spread out beneath her.
"Wendy, if anything happens to her, I won't let you get away with it!" Nate uttered through clenched jaws.
I snorted nonchalantly. "Try killing me first, then we'll talk."
I turned around and left.
As expected, Grace miscarried.
What came before Nate's retaliation was Tony's slap.
He told me to come home for dinner, but the moment I walked in, he slapped me across the face.
I tasted blood and slowly looked around the room. Then, I locked onto the blue vase in the living room. I walked over, grabbed it, and smashed it to the floor.
Tony clutched his chest in fury. "You unfilial daughter!"
"If you know I'm unfilial, then don't provoke me. Tony, say what you need to say and get it over with."
"You rascal, are you trying to kill me?! The Jackel family isn't what it used to be. They're not someone you can afford to offend anymore! Apologize to Grace in person!
"Otherwise, every Keller Group's project will get blocked!"
I shrugged. "What does that have to do with me? You want me to apologize? In your dreams.
"Tony, you and that wretch teamed up to drive Mom to her death. Now, I'll punish you too. If the Keller family goes bankrupt, I'll be the first one lighting fireworks to celebrate."
With that, I stormed upstairs and barged into that woman's room. I ripped apart her clothes and bags before tossing the wreckage onto the floor.
Meanwhile, Tony couldn't catch his breath and passed out on the spot.
He probably had forgotten that I'd already gone insane long ago. If he thought he could force my head down and make me apologize, I didn't mind letting him relive what life had been like three years ago.
The old man's memory had to be failing. Back then, I had fought them like I had nothing to lose. They had finally managed to marry me off and enjoyed three peaceful years, yet now, he was getting cocky again.
I turned around and walked out. Behind me, the house was in total chaos.
Still, I went to the hospital. If Nate wanted to tattle and pull tricks, I wasn't about to disappoint him.
At the end of the hallway, Nate stood with a few of his close friends.
"Nate, Wendy helped you survive your crisis. She gave you everything. You're being a textbook traitor."
"If you really want a divorce, just compensate her properly. Why make things this ugly?"
Nate blew out a cloud of smoke. "I do owe her, but it was a mutually beneficial marriage, to begin with. I would give her money, but she was always standing above me, acting as though she was handing out charity. I can't stand it.
"Grace is different. She worships me. She thinks I'm amazing. She praises me without holding back. Do you know what that feels like?"
I couldn't help but laugh as I stepped forward in my heels.
Hearing the sound, Nate turned around. The moment he saw me, his expression darkened.
I smiled and snapped my fingers, and the reporters behind me surged forward and instantly surrounded him.
"Mr. Jackel, are you admitting to cheating during your marriage?"
"Married for three and a half years, cheating for three. You've known Grace for four years. Does that mean you two were already seeing each other before the wedding?"
"Mr. Jackel, you want a divorce but aren't willing to pay. Are you trying to force your wife out with nothing?"
Nate looked horrified. He never expected that everything he had just said was being livestreamed across the internet.
At that moment, Grace's screams pierced through the ward.
"Get away from me! I'm not a mistress! I'm not!
"The unloved one is the real mistress!"
Nate froze.
"Wendy! If you have a problem, come at me!"
I smiled. "Sure. Nate, let's get a divorce and end this cleanly.
"If you don't, I'll drag you straight to the inferno."
