Chapter 1 of My Husband Cheated with His Sister-in-Law

On our 50th wedding anniversary, I suddenly received a wedding dress, a pair of gold rings, and a custom-made gold photo frame.

Attached was a card with a single line.

[To the woman I love the most—happy golden anniversary to us!]

I couldn't contain my excitement and joy.

We haven't had a wedding in all these years.because my husband, Jameson, said it wasn’t important as long as we loved each other.

But just as I finished changing, Jameson burst through the door and shouting, “Don’t touch the wedding dress and ring I bought with your filthy hands that reeked of cooking oil and chop vegetables all day!”

I feel a little wronged, but Jameson may be preparing for the wedding better.

Only after I reluctantly removed the dress did his gloomy expression ease. He took the gown, the ring, and before leaving, he added, “Hurry up and make dinner. Everyone is waiting.”

While I was cooking in the kitchen, I heard my sister-in-law Sabrina say to my husband, "Are you sure you want to give me the house on the wedding day? How do we explain this to Julienne?"

My husband happily replied, "Of course. We've been married for so many years. Julienne is just a nanny. Don't worry about her opinion."

My son also said, "Sabrina is my real mom. A golden wedding is so romantic, but we can't let Julienne ruin it.Maybe we’ll send her abroad or something"

It was then that I realized even my marriage was a sham.

If that was the case, then this home no longer needs to exist.

I returned to the kitchen and quietly picked up my phone.

“I’d like to sell my house,” I told the real estate agent. “Make sure it’s sold in seven days.”

It seems that after all these years of devotion, they had forgotten—this house was under my name.

Seven days from now, when Jameson throws his golden anniversary ceremony for Sabrina, I’ll be selling this house and leaving behind this grease-stained life.

I’ll finally start living for myself.

So I packed my bags, boarded a plane, and chose the man who truly loved me. And on the day I finally said "I do", they came crawling back, but it was already too late.

——

On our 50th wedding anniversary, I suddenly received a wedding dress, a pair of gold rings, and a custom-made gold photo frame.

Attached was a card with a single line.

[To the woman I love the most—happy golden anniversary to us!]

I couldn't contain my excitement and joy.

After fifty years of sacrificing everything for this family—working tirelessly like a beast of burden—it was the first time I had ever received such a grand anniversary gift.

Just a few days ago, Jameson even mentioned something about holding a wedding.

Could it be that, after all these years, I was finally going to have a wedding of my own?

Heart pounding, I untied my grease-stained apron, cleaned myself up meticulously, and eagerly put on the beautiful, intricately designed gown.

But just as I finished changing, Jameson burst through the door.

His face darkened instantly when he saw me in the wedding dress, and wearing the gold ring.

He stormed toward me, shouting, “Don’t touch the wedding dress and ring I bought with your filthy hands that reeked of cooking oil and chop vegetables all day!”

The man who had always been calm and gentle suddenly looked at me with such disgust, as if I had committed some unforgivable crime.

Before I could even feel hurt, he grabbed my hand and forcefully pulled off the ring, scraping my finger until it bled.

“The dress and ring were meant for my sister-in-law, Sabrina. You, with your greasy smell and wrinkled skin, don’t deserve to wear something so elegant and expensive!”

I froze, as if someone had poured a bucket of ice-cold water over me.

“They weren’t for me? But... it’s our golden anniversary,” I murmured, stunned.

Jameson gave me a scornful glance and sneered. “You spend every day at home doing chores. You don’t take care of yourself. You’re old and unattractive—don’t you feel ashamed wearing that dress?”

He didn’t even bother arguing further and continued coldly, “My brother passed away early. I’ve taken care of his wife ever since. Of course I should throw a golden wedding ceremony for her.”

“Take off the dress. Now.”

Only after I reluctantly removed the dress did his gloomy expression ease. He took the gown, the ring, and the gold photo frame, and before leaving, he added, “Hurry up and make dinner. Everyone is waiting.”

And with that, he walked out.

I followed him into the living room. My son and daughter-in-law were already sitting on the couch.

I asked Jameson quietly, “What about my anniversary gift?”

“You don’t even go out. The farthest you ever walk is to the market. What would you need a gift for?” he replied dismissively.

So, in his eyes, Sabrina deserved anything she wanted—but I couldn’t even have a token of remembrance?

Before I could say anything more, the doorbell rang.

My daughter-in-law rushed to open the door. Seconds later, Sabrina strutted in.

“Grandma Sabby, you’re here! Come in!” my daughter-in-law said cheerfully, leading her in with great enthusiasm.

Even the grandson I doted on most came bouncing up excitedly.

“Grandma Sabby, you’re finally here!”

Everyone’s faces lit up the moment they saw her.

Sabrina was Jameson's brother's wife, his sister-in-law. But since her husband died early and she had no children of her own, my son began calling her "Mom Sabby" to fulfill her maternal fantasies.

She sat gracefully in the living room, while my son served her tea and my daughter-in-law sat beside her, chatting and holding her hand.

Now, my husband and son look more like hers than mine.

Jameson looked on with satisfaction, sparing me only a glance before snapping coldly, “Why are you still standing there? Is dinner ready yet?”

Sabrina turned her head at the commotion and said with mock helplessness, “Julienne, I’m so sorry. They kept pulling me into conversation—I was just about to go help you in the kitchen.”

On hearing her words, a flicker of annoyance flashed in Jameson’s eyes. “Why are you still hung up on this?”

“What kind of mother and mother-in-law are you? Everyone is hungry—can’t whatever issue you have wait until after dinner?”

He scolded me like I was a nuisance, like I was the unreasonable one.

The whole living room was filled with joy and warmth. My son and daughter-in-law acted as if they hadn’t heard a single word of our argument.

They let me take all the blame, not one person stepping in to defend me.

All their kindness—they gave it to her.

Suddenly, I found it laughable.

This was the marriage I had preserved for fifty years. This was the family I’d poured my life into for fifty years.

And yet, in this home, I had always been an outsider.
