Chapter 1

My dad was diagnosed with a terminal illness, and his only wish before he passed away was to see me marry Anthony Nelson.

I knelt down, pleading with Anthony repeatedly, and he finally agreed to marry me.

On the day of the wedding, my dad, dressed in a suit, was filled with joy as he prepared to hand me over to Anthony.

  But he suddenly disappeared.

Our wedding turned into a joke, and I became the target of others' ridicule.

That night, my dad was so furious that he coughed up blood, leaving me with anger and regret.

The next morning, Anthony's first love Sophia Davis announced on social media.

[A forced love isn't sweet. The devoted admirer chased him for five years, but in the end, he returned to me!]

Someone in the comments laughed and said I was that devoted admirer.

I didn't cry or make a scene; I simply blocked them all.

Later, Anthony couldn't find me anywhere, and he panicked!

I didn't have time to apologize to the guests as I sat in an ambulance wearing my wedding dress.

I watched helplessly as my dad's heartbeat gradually faded, turning into a straight line.

I felt a dull pain in my chest but couldn't cry at all!

In fact, I was not surprised that Anthony had run away from the marriage for Sophia.

I had been with him for five years, and every time Sophia had some trivial matter, he could be summoned away from me in an instant!

At the beginning, Anthony had told me he was serious about getting married.

But once Sophia came back into his life, he turned into a "no-marriage" guy.

I didn't hate him for not loving me; I hated that he shouldn't have agreed to marry me in the first place and then broke that promise!

It was his fleeing from the wedding that caused my dad to cough up blood and die, and I would never forgive him for that!

After taking care of my dad's funeral arrangements, I went home to sort through his belongings.

My mom had passed away when I was very young, and from what I can remember, my dad raised me all by himself.

He once said, "Girl, if I die one day, just dig a hole and bury me. No need to spend money on a gravesite; it's too expensive."

Even in death, he was thinking of me, worried that I would have to spend money and suffer.

Tears streamed down my face, and as I wiped them away and looked up, I saw Anthony coming out of a hotel with Sophia, his arm wrapped around her waist.

He was stunned when he saw me.

His gaze swept across my tear-streaked face, and then his brow furrowed in displeasure.

"Grace Walker, what are you pretending to be so weak for?"

His tone made it sound like I had done something to upset him.

But I hadn't done anything at all.

Sophia smiled sweetly, inching closer to Anthony as if claiming her relationship with him, her whole body pressing against him.

"Grace, I'm so sorry! My little cat was sick that day, and Anthony knows how important it is to me, so he rushed to take me to the pet hospital."

She paused, casting a flirtatious glance at Anthony, then provocatively added.

"I didn't know that day was your wedding."

I looked at the adulterous couple coldly.

Sensing my unfriendly gaze, Anthony instinctively shielded Sophia behind him, as if worried I might hurt her in the next moment.

The pain in my chest intensified.

The doctor had said that if nothing unexpected happened, my dad could have lived for a few more months.

But it was Anthony's runaway act that caused my dad to cough up blood and die on the spot.

So he fled the wedding just because of a little cat that Sophia had?

After five years of dating Anthony, all of this made me feel like a joke.

  I was really tired.

  "Anthony, let's break up."

Chapter 2

Anthony used to be the light of my youth. His smile, with his head tilted, in a white shirt, made me fall in love for nine years.

The year we graduated from college, he was finally moved by my silent persistence and agreed to be with me.

But when Sophia returned from abroad, all his attention was once again diverted.

I admitted that I still can't forget Anthony for the time being.

But my dad's death constantly reminded me that I couldn't continue being with Anthony.

When he heard me say we should break up, Anthony thought I was just being stubborn.

"Grace, can you stop being unreasonable?"

"I was wrong not to come to the wedding last time, but we can have the wedding whenever. "

"Sophia's little cat was seriously ill and almost died. If the cat had died, she would have been devastated. I couldn't just ignore that."

Each of his words was resolute and forceful.

  Leaving me in a daze.

He felt that I was being unreasonable again.

Because Anthony had told me many times that Sophia's parents had passed away, and she had no one in the country, so he treated her like a sister and took extra care of her.

I didn't want to see Anthony upset, so I indulged them time and time again.

But I never expected them to become even more brazen, standing on my head and deliberately disgusting me.

I coldly averted my gaze from Anthony.

"Do whatever you want from now on. I won't interfere anymore."

After that, I turned around and left.

Anthony furrowed his brow and grabbed my arm, speaking softly this time.

"Is it Uncle Walker blaming you for the runaway incident? I can go and explain it to him in person."

I suddenly found it very funny.

For so many days, he never once asked me anything, nor did he care about my dad's health.

Even after the runaway incident, he didn't even ask if my dad and I were doing okay.

I shook off his hand forcefully and said, "No need!"

For the past two weeks, I had been dragging my weary body, busy dealing with all kinds of matters, not wanting to say a word.

Anthony finally seemed to sense that something was wrong. After five years of love, I had always silently accompanied him, never showing such indifference.

He stared at my retreating figure, opened his mouth, but didn't say anything.

As I walked quite a distance away.

"Grace!" Anthony wanted to come after me.

But he was stopped by Sophia.

"Anthony, you don't need to blame yourself. You never wanted to get married in the first place. It was her dad pretending to be sick, deliberately trying to force you to marry her! You don't have to..."

My head exploded in an instant.

Before my body could react, the object in my hand was fiercely thrown at Sophia.

Sophia screamed and hid behind Anthony.

I glared at her and said, "Watch your mouth!"

Anthony saw my action clearly and instantly turned cold.

  He pushed me hard.

I almost lost my balance and fell to the ground.

  "Grace! You've gone too far!"

I said coldly, "Anthony, I used to like you, but I'm not so cheap as to force you to get married. From now on, we have nothing to do with each other!"

Sophia hid behind him, crying so hard.

Her teary eyes made Anthony feel distressed, and he turned to check if she was injured.

She only had a red mark on her forehead, but Anthony treated it like a major incident, picking her up in his arms.

"Sophia, don't be afraid! I'll take you to the hospital!"

Anthony left with Sophia in his arms.

It was the first time I had seen him so nervous and concerned.

I couldn't help but stand there in a daze.

As they passed by me, Sophia rested her head on Anthony's shoulder and provocatively smiled at me.

Suddenly, I remembered the day after my dad's death, when Sophia announced on social media.

She said, "A forced love isn't sweet. The devoted admirer chased him for five years, but in the end, he returned to me!"

  In fact, she was right.

I had worked hard for five years, but I still couldn't compare to his first love.

  I lost completely.

I stumbled back to the home where I had lived with Anthony for years.

Since we had broken up, I wouldn't go back there again. I started packing my things to leave.

But before I took a few steps, I suddenly felt dizzy and collapsed backward.
