Chapter 4
With that thought in mind, I pointed at Preston and shifted my gaze to George.
“Even if this car does belong to the chairman, he’s also claiming to be his grandson. So, tell me, is he?”
George paled instantly. Beads of sweat rolled down his forehead, and his fingers trembled slightly.
However, his idiot son was still acting full of himself and hurling threats at me. “I’m telling you, whatever my grandfather says is law in Haverbrook. Pay ten million dollars or sleep with me. Otherwise, he’ll make sure you won’t even know what hit you!”
Preston then shot me a contemptuous glance.
“You’re just an intern driving a Rimac. You could work forever and still not come close to paying this off.”
As he spoke, he reached for my chest.
I could not tolerate the arrogant look on his face any longer and threw a punch.
“Argh!”
Preston clutched his nose and staggered back a few steps. Blood started seeping through his fingers.
“So, you’ve chosen the hard way, huh?”
He lunged at me, but I drove a hard kick into him, sending him crashing to the floor.
“Wretched woman! Fine. If I can’t hit you, I’ll wreck your car.”
With that, he jabbed a finger at my pink car and shouted viciously at the people around us, “Whoever wrecks that pink junker gets an immediate promotion and a raise!”
The crowd stirred at once.
Several men got out of their cars and picked up fire extinguishers and metal rods, itching to get started.
All this time, George stood off to the side in silence.
“George,” I said, fixing him with a cold stare. “My grandfather’s been good to you. Are you sure you want to do this? You’re not afraid he’ll throw you out when he finds out?”
Preston laughed like he had heard the greatest joke ever.
“Did you hear that? This woman actually thinks she’s the chairman’s granddaughter!”
The crowd roared with laughter.
“Is she delusional? She got called out and completely lost it.”
“Mr. Creed, hurry up and put her in her place!”
“The chairman’s granddaughter? Don’t be ridiculous. She’s nothing but a gold digger!”
George also laughed.
“If you’re going to lie, at least make it convincing, kid. Don’t you know the chairman’s granddaughter is studying overseas?”
He visibly relaxed and looked at my pink car with open ridicule.
“I’ve driven for years, and I’ve never seen him buy a pink car.”
It all became clear to me. George had no idea I had already returned from abroad, which was why he dared to let his son pretend to be Grandpa’s grandchild.
Unfortunately for him, he was unaware of the truth.
The pink car truly belonged to my grandfather. I had already figured out that it was probably a newly delivered vehicle that had not yet been logged to the garage records. Hence, he did not recognize it.
He also had no idea that Grandpa was sitting in the car at this very moment and had witnessed the entire spectacle.
The first fire extinguisher struck the car with a loud crash, and metal rods and wrenches followed soon after.
Preston hurled insults as he continued striking the car. “Women who drive pink cars are the worst. You deserve this!”
To everyone’s shock, the blush pink car was completely unscathed even after all the blows. Instead, their tools had bent out of shape.
“What in the world? Why is this piece of junk so tough?”
Someone suddenly pointed at the rear impact area and exclaimed, “Look!”
The black Rolls-Royce had a huge dent, but my pink car did not even have a scratch on its paintwork.
“Goodness! Are you kidding me? What in the world is this thing?”
I gently ran my hand over the car’s surface and said slowly, “You all know it’s a Rimac, but do you know that it’s a Rimac Nevera?”
Under their astonished gazes, I smiled faintly. “This is bulletproof.”
It was also the most expensive car in Grandpa’s garage.
Preston was livid. He raised a hammer high.
“I don’t care if it’s a Rimac or whatever! I’m going to smash your car to pieces today!”
His threats died in his throat as the pink car’s window slowly slid down, revealing Grandpa’s stern face.
My grandfather’s sharp gaze swept across the crowd before settling on Preston.
“Whose car did you say you were going to smash?” he asked in an icy tone.
