Chapter 2
Dog licker?
I could feel that all the eyes looking at me were filled with contempt.
Yeah, how could a bootlicker not be looked down upon?
But I was not.
Silvia and I met at a club activity.
I had just played basketball at that time and was so hungry that I stole my roommate's snacks.
Then my roommate said a few insults to me and asked me to call him godfather.
I did not care about the nonsense between my roommates and I really called him my godfather.
At that time, Silvia stood up for me. She said that they should not bully others just because they were poor and she also said that I should not steal other people's food.
Anyway, she had the personality of a big sister and liked to uphold justice.
Later, I pretended to be poor and pitiful, pestering her every day. Soon we were together and the whole school knew that she was ‘keeping’ me.
Others always said that she had a gigolo. I was afraid that she would lose face, so I told her that my family was actually very rich, but she did not care much.
Anyway, we had been together for four years. There had not been any ups and downs in our love story, but our love was as sweet as honey.
In fact, we almost never quarreled.
So, when she suddenly dumped me, I could not accept it and wanted to know why she did that.
Silvia stood on the stage and walked up to it step by step.
But before I could say anything, the man suddenly appeared in front of me.
He was too short, so he needed to look up to see me and I also had to lower my head to see him.
“You're still coming up here?”
He jumped up and wanted to slap me.
I stepped back, frowned, looked at Silvia and asked, “You broke up with me just to marry this thing?”
Silvia quickly stepped forward, raised her hand and slapped me. “What nonsense are you talking about?”
I ducked when the man hit me. But when Silvia hit me, I did not hide.
Because she was wearing high heels, I was afraid she would fall.
She was about to get married, but I was still thinking about her. Was I too cheap?
I touched my beaten face and my eyes were filled with sorrow.
“Are you Silvia's boyfriend in college?” The man came over, smiled contemptuously and said, “You are a gigolo and you dare to act like a prostitute in front of me?
“Do you know who I am? I am Jacques Buckley and our Buckley Family is the richest family in Stanford!”
I did not go to see Jacques, but continued to say to Silvia, “It's unfair to me if you leave without saying a word.”
“What? I've given you the villa, the car, the savings, what else do you want? Stop it Jordan, we are done!” Silvia frowned and said, “You know, in a family like mine, love and marriage are separate thing.
“Thank you for your company for four years, but my husband can only be Jacques. Do you understand?”
I looked at her and asked, “Fine, then answer me, do you love me?”
As for marriages between wealthy families, I was clear about it.
Because my parents were in an arranged marriage, but they were lucky enough to grow up together as childhood sweethearts and fall in love naturally.
As for me, in fact, we did not need allies. After all, my family’s status in the capital no longer needed to be consolidated by an alliance.
“Are you kidding me now? Stop it, Jordan. I knew from a very young age that I would get married to someone arranged for me when I grew up, so I do not believe in love at all.
“I'm dating you simply because I think you're pretty and poor enough to be easily controlled.” Silvia laughed sarcastically and said, “Okay, now you know the answer you want, let's go.”
Chapter 3
It turned out that what I thought was a sweet love was just what I thought. But in Silvia's eyes, I was just a pretty and obedient pretty boy?
That was ridiculous.
I nodded. If that was the case, then let's did it this way.
Although my heart ached, I could still let it go.
I came here to keep her, but if she asked me to go, then I would let it go.
I looked at Silvia and said with a wry smile, “Well, I wish you happiness.”
Having said that, I planned to turn around and leave the stage.
Silvia clenched her hands and looked away, not looking at me.
But Jacques blocked my way, sneering, “Since you’re here, stay and watch the ceremony. Otherwise, you’ll be disrespecting me, Jacques, my Buckley Family and the entire Stanford if you stay arrogant like that.”
“So arrogant?” I laughed.
I had heard similar things before.
After all, California was a big city and not everyone knew me, so it was inevitable that some people would try to show off to me.
But after I dealt with a few blind people, no one dared to talk to me like that anymore.
Jacques did not hear the contempt for him in my words, but instead clapped his hands.
Then, many people in black suits came out and surrounded the stage.
“Boy, if I'm not happy today, you cannot leave this room,” Jacques said.
Silvia hurried over, glared at me and said, “Get lost, I do not want to see you again!”
“Did I ask you to speak?” Jacques said coldly, “Do you really think I'm stupid? I can see that you are protecting this kid.”
Protect me?
I looked at Silvia deeply and found that her eyes were full of worry.
Maybe what she just said was a lie?
Silvia shook her head and said, “I just do not want to have anything to do with the person from the past anymore.
“Besides, today is our engagement day, so what does my ex-boyfriend have to do with me? If you tell others about it later, will you have the face to do it?”
Her tone softened, “Jacques, I am thinking about you.”
Jacques's expression improved a little, but he still said, “I am not afraid of losing face, because in this small piece of land in Stanford, I am the king.”
He pointed at me and said, “Go to the audience and watch the ceremony!”
I nodded, glanced at Silvia with a half-smile and then walked off the stage.
But as soon as I stepped down from the stage, I was immediately surrounded by four men in black suits.
Then they took me to a corner seat.
This was because they were afraid that I would run away.
From the stage, Jacques smirked and said, “Boy, just sit tight and watch the ceremony. If I say you’re not leaving, then you’re not leaving.”
“Fine. If you do not let me go now, I won't leave until you want me to,” I said and smiled faintly.
“Shut up!” Silvia scolded.
I smiled and said nothing. They wanted to continue playing, so do not blame me.
Jacques added, “I heard you are from California? That's great. Some big shots from California will be coming later.
“They are all young men in California circles. I will introduce them to you. It will also help you see the world.”
I could not help but laugh again and said, “Then I'd like to thank you in advance.”
At this time, a group of people came over. They were all young people and they looked very arrogant.
As expected, they must be Jacques’s bad friends.
“Boy, don't you think it's good to be alive? Do you really think Silvia can protect you?”
“To tell you the truth, even if you did not come today, Jacques still would not let you go. How could he allow the man who slept with his fiancée for four years to live?”
Chapter 4
“I have a cell phone here, do you want me to call the police for you?”
A group of people laughed unscrupulously.
I lowered my head and fiddled with my phone, too lazy to talk to these people.
But there was one thing I could be sure of.
That was Silvia, she was indeed protecting me.
The engagement ceremony ended very quickly.
Next, it was the time for the guests to eat, drink and bond with each other.
Jacques took Silvia to each table to toast and everyone was very flattering to Jacques.
I just took some time to learn about the Buckley Family in Stanford. It was true that they were the richest family, but they did not have much background and could be considered a nouveau riche.
The Buckley Family was able to rise to prominence because they had connections in California and then they got many big projects in the Sanford Family, which made them the richest people in Stanford.
However, their Buckley Family had never been able to squeeze into the circle of aristocratic families in Stanford.
In other words, the people who came that day were all vassals of the Buckley Family, as well as guests and friends of Silvia's family.
As for Silvia's family, it was considered a noble family in Stanford, but it had already declined.
The marriage between the Sanford Family and the Buckley Family was a win-win situation.
What the Buckley Family wanted was a ticket to squeeze into the circle of aristocratic families. Marrying a girl from an aristocratic family was equivalent to getting a ticket.
What the Sanford Family wanted was nothing more than money and they hoped to use it to make a comeback.
I had seen too many marriages like this since I was a child, so I was not surprised.
In fact, looking back at history, there had been too many such things happening in every dynasty.
Marriage had always been a science.
At this time, a little girl who looked only sixteen or seventeen years old sat next to me.
She was sweet and pretty, with some baby fat on her face, which made her very cute and her eyebrows and eyes are very similar to Silvia.
“My name is Sunny Sanford, your ex-girlfriend's biological sister. From now on, do not talk and follow me.”
She looked cute, but her voice was cold.
As he spoke, he already took my hand.
But I did not move, instead I asked, “Did your sister ask you to help me?”
“What do you think?” Sunny frowned and said, “Follow me quickly, or you won't be able to leave!”
At this time, several people in black suits had surrounded them.
Sunny sighed, shook off my hand and sat aside with no intention of leaving, because she knew she could not leave.
“You should not have come.” She sighed again, “If it were not for you, my sister would not have to marry that short, fat guy!”
For me?
I was surprised, but before I could ask any questions, I noticed a commotion in the banquet hall.
Jacques and Silvia also walked towards the entrance of the banquet hall and signaled everyone to stand up.
Then I saw seven or eight people walking into the banquet hall.
There were both men and women, all very young, but with a calm temperament, especially the leader, who was only in his early twenties, but very imposing.
“Russell, you're finally here, otherwise my engagement party would have been a little disappointing.”
Jacques immediately stepped forward and stretched out his hand to shake hands with the leader.
Russell did not shake hands with Jacques, nor did he even look at him. Instead, he looked at Silvia carefully before asking, “Your name is Silvia Sanford, right?”
Silvia was stunned for a moment, then nodded.
Russell's attitude softened a bit and he said with a smile, “He hid himself very well, otherwise we would have known each other long ago.”
Jacques thought that this ‘he’ was referring to him and was wondering when he hid?
However, he did not think much about it, but said to the others, “Everyone, this is Russell Lucero from the Lucero family in California. He is the real prince and the Lucero family is also the biggest support for our Buckley Family in Stanford.”
The others immediately applauded enthusiastically, their excitement evident in their expressions.
Jacques saw me still sitting on the sofa, glared at me and said, “Boy, who gave you the guts to still sit there?”
Silvia also said immediately, “Jordan, quickly stand up!”
