Chapter 4
Realizing what Egor intended to do, I quickly shouted, "Egor , I'll die without that battery!"
My plea fell on deaf ears. Egor ordered some people to bind me to a nearby mobile operating table.
"What are you afraid of? My skills are superb; there won't be any accidents."
He then turned to Carrie and spoke tenderly, "Carrie, don't cry. I'll take out Jasmine's heart battery, and your little puppy can stay with you forever."
He cut open my bloody chest with a scalpel.
No anesthesia, no disinfection.
I could clearly feel the tools stirring and searching in my chest cavity. They scraped against my ribs, making a sound that made my teeth ache.
"Found it."
Egor's voice carried a hint of excitement.
He forcefully yanked it out!
At that moment, I felt like all the blood in my body stopped flowing. My life started slipping away at an alarming speed.
My brother expertly made simple modifications to the battery and placed it inside Carrie's robot pet dog.
The little dog immediately wagged its tail and barked happily.
"Wow! Egor, you're amazing!" Carrie happily hugged the puppy and kissed it.
Then, she tilted her head and suggested naively, "Egor, let's give this great experiment a name. How about 'Waste Recycling'?"
My brother smiled indulgently and nodded.
He boldly wrote a few large words in the naming section of the experiment report: [Jasmine Langford's Waste Recycling].
After many years, he finally named an experiment after me again.
I could clearly feel my lungs stop breathing, my kidneys lose function, and the nerves in my limbs dying inch by inch...
However, my brain was weirdly lucid, magnifying the pain of this death a thousandfold.
The family of four - my father, my mother, Egor, and Carrie - happily gathered around my operating table.
My brother was still calmly analyzing the data from the instruments. "Once the data collection is complete, I'll immediately resuscitate her."
The second before my consciousness completely faded, I used my last bit of strength to say my final words.
"I will not... come back to life."
The system prompt sounded:
[Condition 3 met. Reclamation of your brother's intelligence initiated.]
[All return conditions have been met. Reclamation procedure fully initiated.]
