Chapter 3

Possible Prince Charming

That night, Miranda was still crowing about her rich boyfriend when I returned to the dorm.

"He said he'll take me to the Malift Islands for a holiday once the project pays off. We'll even get married once I graduate. The gift he bought has arrived. It's perfume. I really love the scent.

"According to him, this is a rather niche and expensive brand in Eulora. Every bottle is worth thousands."

She started snapping pictures of her perfume bottle, showing it off online.

She even began whining about how she did not know what gift to send in return.

The other two roommates voiced their envy.

I let out a mocking scoff after taking a cursory glance at the packaging.

A niche brand from Eulora? Please! The perfume was clearly cheap and not worth much.

Only a brainless fool like Miranda would fall for the lie.

The scent of the cheap perfume was so overpowering that I had to open a window to air out the room.

Regardless, I refused to tell Miranda that her boyfriend sent her something that was clearly bought off the street after what she'd done to me.

To be honest, I greatly anticipated the day when she discovered she had been cheated. What would her reaction be then?

The next day in class, she sat next to Theo Gardner, the campus hottie.

Theo was not just the hottest guy on campus. He was also a rich kid.

Miranda nonchalantly pushed her book off the table and onto the ground next to him.

He picked it up for her.

She thanked him bashfully, her cheeks flushing.

Soon, the dorm room's group chat began buzzing.

I clicked in to read the messages.

There was a photo of Theo leaning against my sports car, which Miranda scratched up. He was dressed in a black hoodie, dark blue jeans, and white sneakers. He looked incredibly handsome yet languid.

Miranda was beside herself with excitement.

"Do you think he's my hot boyfriend? He didn't even demand compensation after I scratched up his car. It has to be him! Who knew my Prince Charming was so close all along? He's so sweet that he must be reluctant to make me pay compensation. He wants to help me save up. What should I do? Gosh, my heart is racing."

The other two roommates were equally excited.

"Whoa! Really? It really is Theo's car! I've seen him driving it around. That car's so amazing, and he's so handsome. Miranda, you're so lucky!"

"Miranda, you must seize this chance. Don't miss out on someone as great and rich as Theo. You're just so lucky! He asked you to invest in his project so you could be rich. That means he already thinks of you as his!"

Their strange rationality and idealistic fantasies encouraged Miranda, making her feel bolder.

Miranda poked Theo with a finger, her cheeks flushing prettily. "Hi."

"Hello," he politely replied.

She shyly lowered her head, too scared to look at him. Instead, she started messaging the group once more.

"It must be him. He spoke to me and even smiled. Goodness! I can't hold it in any longer. My head is spinning. How is he so cool? Say, should I be more proactive and ask him to treat him to a meal as thanks for helping me make it big?"

The other two cheered her on, "Of course!"

I stared at the screen, utterly speechless. Then, I decisively closed the group chat.

He smiled, so that meant he was into her?

I once saw Theo smile at a stray dog across the street! Did that mean he loved it in that way as well?
