Chapter 1
My name was Fiona Daves, and Damon Malcom was my son. When Damon was building his empire, I was kidnapped by his enemies as his only soft spot.
In order not to burden him, I let them toss me into the sea and almost drowned. From then on, my body gradually weakened.
Damon took me abroad and searched for famous doctors around the world to treat my body.
He built a villa for me in the deep mountains to let me recuperate.
Later, when he was about to get married, he traveled thousands of miles to find me so that I'd be back to witness his happiness.
But the day before the wedding, a woman claiming to be his fiancée came to me, accompanied by a group of people, and broke into my villa.
"It's this bitch who seduced Damon, causing Damon to neglect me. Beat her hard and let her know the consequences of being a mistress!"
She set fire to my villa and smashed the garden that Damon built for me.
She used a knife to scratch my face, break my bones, and brought me, covered in blood, to their wedding venue.
She said I slandered Damon's mother and defamed me.
Damon didn't recognize me, and his gaze towards me was particularly cold as if I were a stranger.
He sent someone to throw me into the sea, trying to drown me.
The seawater washed away the cloth in my mouth, but I couldn't say his name anymore.
——
Today was the day of Damon's wedding, and I especially rushed here from abroad.
I was doing makeup backstage when I heard some commotion outside the door.
"Helen, everyone in Los Angeles knows that you are Damon's acknowledged wife. How dare she seduce Damon before the wedding? I think she's deliberately trying to humiliate you. You must punish her!"
"The mistress deserves to be punished. She even came to the wedding venue specifically to show off. What a shameless bitch!"
"I heard she's a widow. She's so despicable. She'll soon learn how capable you are! After all, you'll be Mrs. Malcom soon!"
The noise outside the door gradually became clearer, and I had a rough idea of what was going on.
But it made me very confused. Damon loved Helen Gill so much.
When he begged me to agree to let Helen into the Malcom family, he knelt in the pouring rain for a whole day and night.
After being sent to the hospital, he was seriously ill. He was delirious with fever, but he still took my hand and begged me to approve his marriage to Helen.
A week before their wedding, he went on a long trip to return to my villa and pleaded with me for a long time just to let me witness his happiness.
Helen in Damon's mouth was gentle, kind, and of noble character.
After all, she was the Malcom family's daughter-in-law whom Damon and I openly acknowledged.
Even if Damon was deceived, I wouldn't let Helen be bullied by some mistress.
As I opened the door, I saw Helen in a wedding dress and several close bridesmaids standing aggressively behind her.
"Helen..."
I was about to greet Helen in a friendly manner, but she slapped me angrily.
"You shameless bitch. You seduced Damon before our wedding and made him stay out all night!
"Today I'll punish you! You mistress! You had a husband!"
There was a burning pain in my cheek, and I looked at her in disbelief.
"You look so enchanting.
"Why are you here doing your makeup? Are you planning to seduce Damon later?"
My mind went blank for a moment, and then I reacted.
They were talking about me, the mistress who was brought to the wedding venue.
I stood up, no longer looking kind.
"You're so bold!"
Before I could finish speaking, Helen kicked me in the abdomen, and I fell to the ground.
"So bold? Who do you think you are?
"Your neckline is so low. I can see your cleavage. You slut! How dare you deny you aren't trying to seduce Damon!"
Helen's face was gloomy and terrifying, and she almost said this through gritted teeth.
My female secretary walked in at this time, carrying a gift, and when she saw me lying on the ground in a sorry state, she quickly put down the gift and walked over.
She helped me up from the ground, with an unfriendly expression, and said.
"What's wrong with you?"
She was about to speak up to defend me and explain on my behalf.
Meanwhile, Helen winked at the bodyguards behind her, who violently pulled my secretary away from me.
My secretary struggled to get up and resist but was slapped by those burly men a few times.
Her nose kept bleeding, and I was terrified.
"Stop! What are you doing?"
I stood up with a chair and said sternly.
Instead of letting them stop, Helen stood with one hand on her waist and looked at me mockingly.
"She is your friend, right? She dresses so well. She must be someone's mistress, too.
"Rocky, she's yours. You don't have to show mercy to her. All mistresses deserve to be punished."
After hearing this, Rocky Yates, one of the bodyguards, along with others, looked greedy. They dragged the unconscious secretary away.
I stumbled and tried to stop them, but I was blocked by Helen and her lackeys.
"Planning to run away?"
I looked at Helen coldly.
When Damon told me about Helen, his eyes were always full of love.
He told me that Helen was a good girl, and she was knowledgeable, understanding, and polite.
When she passed by and saw an injured kitten, she'd take it to the pet hospital and pay for its treatment till it recovered.
Damon fell deeply in love with her because of her gentleness and kindness, and he made a vow to marry no one but her in this lifetime.
He repeatedly assured me that Helen was kind-hearted, gentle, and sensible, and said that I'd definitely like her, my future daughter-in-law.
But the Helen standing in front of me now was completely different from what Damon described. She was so arrogant and unreasonable.
I coldly said.
"Helen, you are so arrogant and domineering. You actually asked your bodyguards to defile a woman. Aren't you afraid that Damon will find out?"
Helen didn't take my words seriously at all. Instead, she sneered.
"So what if he knows? Everyone in Los Angeles knows that I am Damon's publicly acknowledged wife. He said in front of the media that he only loves me.
"To save me, he disabled one of his legs. Even though he knew afterward that it was my self-directed performance due to my lack of sense of security, he still couldn't bear to blame me.
"What makes you think that if I kill you, the shameless mistress, he will be angry with me?"
Her lackeys behind her echoed.
"She's so ugly. I don't know what Damon sees in her. She's nothing compared to Helen."
"Exactly. Now that she dares to provoke at the wedding today, she will dare to show off at their house tomorrow. We must let these mistresses know that Helen isn't someone they can mess with!"
I looked at these girls one by one. They were dressed gorgeously, but it was still obvious that they were all mean. They were all fawning over Helen.
"Do you know who I am?"
Helen looked at me with even more disdain, her tone full of contempt.
"You? Just a lowly mistress who doesn't know her place. Are you worthy of letting me guess?
"Talking to you is a waste of my time.
"Have you heard of Damon's mother, Fiona? She has publicly acknowledged me as her daughter-in-law.
"She will also be present today. You'll get to see her later. When you do, you'll give up on seducing Damon."
She calmly fiddled with her new manicure, her eyes full of malice.
"She has ruined my wedding. No need to show her any mercy. Beat her hard!"
Hearing that, her lackeys rushed towards me, pushing me against the wall and knocking me down.
"Stop! I am Damon's mother, Fiona!"
Chapter 2
My voice was loud enough for Helen, who was at the back, to hear.
"Stop."
The girls who were about to raise their hands stopped and made way for Helen.
She tilted her head.
"You're Mrs. Malcom?"
I stood up against the wall and looked at her seriously.
"Yes. I am Fiona of the Malcom family."
After hearing this, they looked at each other and then burst into laughter.
"Seriously? She's Mrs. Malcom? Yeah, right!"
"She dresses so plainly. Anyone who doesn't know will think she's just a passerby. She lies without thinking just so as not to be beaten by us."
"Besides, everyone knows that Mrs. Malcom is getting old. How could she look so young?"
Helen lifted my chin with one hand and looked at me mockingly.
"Don't you have a mirror? Look at yourself before speaking.
"Do you know who Mrs. Malcom is in Los Angeles? Did you even think before lying?
"If Damon knows that you are slandering Mrs. Malcom like this, maybe he will throw you into the sea.
"You seem quite smart, but you're in fact such a fool."
She looked indifferent, tilted her head, and casually spoke to the people around her as if chatting with friends.
"Go and beat her hard. Punch her in the mouth! After all, she dares to say such arrogant words. Slap her till she begs for mercy on her knees."
She retreated to the back, and her lackeys beside her surrounded me again.
They took out razors from their pockets and bags and held me firmly in place.
They shaved off my hair in large clumps. Perhaps they hurt my skin because the blood on my head flowed down, staining my eyes red.
"Stop! I'm really Fiona!
"If you don't believe me, ask Damon to come here and confront me!"
Seeing that I was in such a miserable state and still stubborn, they became even more arrogant.
"She's still thinking about Damon. She's digging her own grave!"
One of the girls viciously stepped on my fingers with high heels and crushed them hard. The people next to her followed suit.
The piercing pain made me breathless, and I couldn't even utter a word.
My hands were covered in blood, and they cut my dress with scissors.
"Well? Do you know how powerful I am now?
"Do you still dare to call yourself Mrs. Malcom?"
Helen walked up and bent down to look at me.
Her tone was gentle, and her gaze towards me was tender, but her gentleness made me shudder.
"I am Fiona.
"When Damon comes, you will definitely regret it!"
Helen's harmless eyes suddenly turned cold.
"You're still waiting for Damon?"
She raised her hand and slapped me.
"How dare you say this!"
After saying that, she slapped my other cheek.
She grabbed my ear and slapped me hard repeatedly.
My face was burning with pain, but then I simply couldn't feel anything.
"I think you're being delusional.
"You dare to say Damon's name."
She looked at the boiling kettle next to her, got up, and walked over with it.
"Let me see how stubborn you are."
Chapter 3
The girl next to me held me down and pried my mouth open.
I struggled, and the boiling water flowed down the corner of my lips.
But a lot of scalding water still flowed into my throat.
My face was no longer numb. Now, I was covered with a tearing pain that burned my heart and lungs.
Blisters instantly formed in my mouth and on my face, and even my throat was burned.
I trembled all over, and the pain had already spread to every part of my body.
"Weren't you stubborn? Why aren't you saying anything now?
"A slut like you who seduces men should be thrown into a pot of boiling oil. Having you scalded with boiling water is showing you mercy."
Helen stood up and kicked me to the ground.
I fell to the ground, covered in cold sweat, and my face turned pale. I hoarsely said.
"I guess your wedding today won't happen.
"I will never allow such a vicious woman like you to be part of my family."
Helen was so angry that she clenched her teeth.
"How dare you curse me!
"I haven't taught you enough of a lesson!"
With that, she picked up a fruit knife from the table and walked over.
"Hold her down! Don't let her move!"
I was dragged up from the ground by her lackeys in a sorry state.
She held the sharp fruit knife in front of my eyes and then cruelly pinched my chin.
Then she slashed my face with great force. My bones could be seen.
I was in so much pain that I almost passed out, the light in front of my eyes flickering. My vision blurred.
Blood oozed out, staining Helen's snow-white wedding dress bright red.
The air was filled with the smell of blood.
I even forgot to breathe in the intense pain, my clothes soaked with cold sweat.
My vision was completely stained red by the blood, making it difficult for me to see.
Helen looked at me, who was completely disfigured, with satisfaction.
"You've stained my wedding dress. It's the dress he had custom-made for me. And now, it's ruined by your blood, you bitch."
She walked to a nearby makeup mirror, wiped her hands clean, and elegantly took out a lipstick from her handbag to touch up her makeup in front of the mirror.
"Break her bones. I want to see if her bones are harder than iron bars."
The lackeys grabbed the bars they had prepared long ago and surrounded me.
They hit me with iron bars without mercy, the dull sound of hitting flesh was piercing at this moment.
The pain of broken bones spread throughout my body, and I could only lie on the ground like a limp, dying dog.
I tried to lift my arms to protect myself, but I realized that my arms had already been broken, and I couldn't lift them anymore.
"You bitch. I guess your bones aren't that hard.
"I thought you were a tough nut to crack, but you're just so so.
"With your horrifying face, I don't think you'll ever be able to seduce Damon again."
Helen's makeup was delicate, but it couldn't hide how hideous she was. She glanced at me, who was lying on the ground with a face full of blood, and raised an eyebrow.
"Hear me?"
Helen raised her hand and gently smoothed out the wrinkles on her dress.
She was like a white rose blooming in blood, exuding a sense of superiority.
She took an iron bar from the person next to her, raised her arm, and forcefully smashed the iron bar on my back.
Then she opened her mouth wide and pretended to be innocent.
"Oh, are you hurt?"
Her clear eyes were instantly covered with gloom, and she forcefully grabbed my neck, her nails embedded in my flesh.
"You said my wedding wasn't gonna happen?
"I will take you to the scene to see how much preparation Damon has done for today's wedding, and you'll know that I am not to be messed with.
"Damon loves Fiona the most. Tell me, if I tell him that you have slandered her, how will he deal with you?"
Just then, Damon walked in.
His low and displeased voice rang out.
"Who slandered my mother?"
