Chapter 3

Finn had been calling me since last night. However, Douglas hung up on him every single time.

I suspected he was not calling for anything good. He probably wanted to yell at me.

I was right about that.

Douglas had just walked me to the dormitory entrance when Finn saw us.

He stormed over, and his face was twisted in anger.

“Willow, did you really sleep with him?”

His eyes were red from rage.

He was acting as if I had betrayed him.

“Yes, I did.” I was not about to back down.

I even pulled Douglas over and linked my arm with his.

“Willow, you’re such a wench. I left you alone for one day, and you slept with some random brute. You’re so shameless!”

“Shameless? Finn, why don’t you look at yourself? You bailed on me. You knew exactly how important yesterday was to me. And I made it very clear to you a long time ago that I needed you by my side when that day comes. You’re just someone my family gave financial aid to.”

“I already told you why I couldn’t be there! It was Eve’s birthday. I’m one of the few friends she has.”

Evelyn was the university’s belle.

“Besides, I just missed one night, and you immediately slept with him! I know you just can’t stand being alone. You can’t live without a man. You’re so disgusting—”

Before he could finish his sentence, Douglas knocked him to the floor with a single punch.

“Watch your mouth. Willow is my girlfriend now. If you ever talk to her like that again, I’ll make you regret ever setting foot on this campus.”

Finn was weak. He knew he was no match for Douglas and wisely ran off.

To be honest, I was used to how Finn treated me.

Ever since we started university, he had been treating me with contempt. He thought I had no self-respect, that I was always clinging to him and demanding hugs. He called me promiscuous.

He said a proper girl should be reserved, like Evelyn.

Due to my unique condition, he was the only boy I had ever been close to since childhood.

I actually had a crush on him, too.

However, last night, when he abandoned me to celebrate Evelyn’s birthday, I decided to stop liking him.

Besides, I no longer needed him.

Douglas was much more attractive and fit than he was.

After our interaction with Finn, I decided to come clean to Douglas.

“Douglas, I should probably tell you that I’m actually a succubus. I only acted that way yesterday because I was in heat.”

Douglas, who was sitting across from me, showed no change in expression.

He just focused on putting more delicious food on my plate.

“Seriously? Nothing? I just told you I’m a succubus!”

“Oh, I know.”

When he saw my stunned expression, he said, “How do you think I got all these marks? You shifted back to your true form last night. Your tail had me wrapped up tight.”

As he spoke, he looked at me with a resentful expression, as if I were a heartless villain who had wronged him.

Oh, that was awkward.

He was taking it far too well. I had no idea how to continue the conversation.

[Willow, he genuinely likes you. He’s nothing like that Finn guy.]

[Yes. His attraction to you is instinctual. He was hooked on you from the very first day.]

So, he had a crush on me from the very start?

I cleared my throat and spoke. “Just so we’re clear, I’m not the kind of person who just falls for someone easily. Even if you did use my account to post that announcement, I think we still need to be careful about this.”

“But babe, you said you’d make us official!”

“Wait, what? When?”

He slammed his fork on the table. His eyes widened with anger.

“Unbelievable! You’re such a player! You got what you wanted, and now you’re done with me?! Last night, you were literally begging—”

Chapter 4

Douglas was speaking so loudly that the people at the table beside us turned to look.

This was so embarrassing.

I covered his mouth.

“Stop talking nonsense. Nothing even happened. And why are you making it sound like I was the one who took advantage of you? You were the one guiding my hand all over the place.”

I blushed when I recalled what happened.

[So you guys got freaky after dark, huh?]

[Douglas is looking at you with pure hunger in his eyes. He wants you really bad. It’s downright indecent.]

Just as I was focused on reading more of comments, Douglas licked my palm. It was as if he were punishing me for not paying attention to him.

I was so startled that I immediately pulled my hand away.

“You... you...”

He took my hand and carefully wiped it with a handkerchief.

“Babe, I know you’re being reserved because of Finn. Just give me a shot. Besides, with your condition, you’re going to need me again.”

I thought about how we did not go all the way yesterday. The heat I felt yesterday would probably come crashing back soon.

I did need a reliable source on standby.

“Fine. But we should set the terms now. Publicly, we’re a couple. Privately, this is a partnership. When I need you, you’ll provide the cuddles. I’ll pay you. Name your price.”

What could we say? We succubi were naturally drawn to glittering things. Our ancestors struck gold in the early days - discovered entire mineral veins that laid the foundation for our legendary wealth.

As I was just feeling quite pleased with my idea, the comments popped up like crazy again.

[Willow, Douglas is the wealthiest man in Onyx City. Money is the last thing he worries about.]

[Willow, as a strong, independent woman, you don’t need to overthink this. He likes you anyway. Just sit back and enjoy it.]

Just when I thought he would refuse, he responded.

“Alright. But I don’t want your money. My terms are simple. When you have an urge, you come to me only. And I will decide how we’ll be intimate.”

His terms seemed a little weird, but he had agreed. I naturally did not want to let go of such a high-quality prospect.

“Deal.”

Right after we made our deal, he said he had some business to attend to and needed to be away for a while.

I suspected that he might have regretted agreeing to our partnership.

Yet he texted me very frequently. He would ask what I was doing or eating, or who I was with. He seemed curious about everything in my life.

I did not feel like talking to him. To me, no cuddles meant no conversation.

As for Finn, whose contact Douglas had deleted from my phone, he kept sending me friend requests. I did not accept them.

I simply put my phone on silent mode.

Without men pestering me, I found myself with plenty of time.

I started going to the library every day to work on my design project.

Designing jewelry had been my passion since I was a child, and I had always had a knack for it.

I was actually a renowned jewelry designer named Wishart. That was an identity I had always kept secret.

Recently, a major client commissioned me to design a ring that was one of a kind. The deadline was very tight, and I had already spent two consecutive nights making drafts.

I should not accept such rushed jobs in the future. They were truly exhausting.

I impressed myself with how wealthy and hardworking I was.

I had always been that way. My mother taught me from a young age that a woman must have a passion to dedicate herself to.

Romance was only a small part of life.

A woman had to have her own career.

Just as I stepped out of the library, I saw Evelyn clinging to Finn.

“Finn, what’s wrong with you lately? You haven’t gone on a date with me in so long. Are you tired of me?”

Finn pulled Evelyn closer and wiped away her tears.

“Eve, please don’t cry. I just haven’t been feeling well lately. Tell you what, I’ll get you that bag you wanted the other day, okay?

This made me mad. I clenched my fist.

I forgot to tell my mother to cut off his allowance.

How dare he use my family’s money to pamper someone else?!

I took out my phone and called my mother.

“Mom, Finn stood me up when I was in heat. Cut off all his funding.”
