Chapter 1

On the day of the wedding, my fiancee, Bianca Newton, approached me with a bright smile, handing me a glass of wine.

I drank it down in one gulp.

Suddenly, her male best friend, Xander Lynch, raised his phone and burst out laughing.

"See! I told you this idiot wouldn't even notice that it was my piss! Pay up, everyone! Don't forget to follow my account! Pay up!"

I started puking uncontrollably, but Bianca merely looked at me with disgust. I demanded that Xander apologize, yet Bianca placed herself in front of him and stopped me.

"It was just a joke! Why are you taking it so seriously?"

At the same time, Xander said smugly, "Come on, say hello to the views in my livestream! Tell them how it feels to drink piss!"

I smashed a wine bottle right on his head.

Bianca demanded that I kneel and apologize to him. Then, she hurriedly escorted Xander to the hospital, still in her wedding gown.

Looking at the wedding venue in utter chaos, I calmly took my phone out and dialed a number.

"Are you interested in marrying me?"

The wine bottle smashed onto Xander Lynch's head. Blood, mixed with wine, trickled down his forehead.

The entire wedding venue fell into pin-drop silence as the guests stared at us with bated breath, not daring to make a single sound.

Everyone in Port Town knew that Xander was Bianca Newton's best friend and that no one was to touch him, not even me.

Clutching his forehead, Xander glared at me.

"Damn it! It was just a joke! Did you really have to do that?

"Bianca, it really hurts!"

The next second, a slap landed right on my face.

Slap!

My cheek burned as it swelled up instantly. The diamond ring on her ring finger scraped across my skin, leaving a bloody cut.

Blood mixed with the bruising of one side of my face made me look terrifying, yet Bianca thought nothing of it. She was looking at Xander with worry on her face.

"Wilson Fuller, have you gone mad?!"

She glared at me with contempt as if she were not the same person who had just exchanged vows with me a moment ago.

"Xander was just joking around with you! So, what if you drank a little piss just to amuse him?"

The foul smell of piss still lingered in my mouth. My stomach churned so badly that I was about to puke.

Bianca sneered at my retching expression. "You can stop with your act! Apologize to Xander at once! Don't stand there and disgust everyone!"

I picked up a glass of water and gargled my mouth. The weird stench had disappeared a little.

Xander clutched his forehead, saying weakly, "Bianca, I was just trying to make your wedding even more lively. Who would've thought that Wilson can't even differentiate between wine and piss?

"He must be targeting me on purpose! I guess we should stop contacting each other in the future. I don't want to ruin your happiness!"

Then, tears fell from Xander's eyes, which broke Bianca's heart.

She wiped away his tears and comforted him, "Don't worry. Wilson is just an idiot. You did nothing wrong!"

Ever since we got engaged, Bianca had never once spoken to me with such tenderness. To me, she was always cold and impatient. At that moment, there was even a hint of detest.

"Apologize to Xander!"

I clenched my fists tightly and glared at Bianca. "Bianca, are you a monster? I was the one who got pranked by drinking piss at our wedding, yet you want me to apologize to the culprit?"

A hint of shiftiness flashed across Bianca's gaze, but the very next second, Xander clutched his forehead and fell into her arms, saying feebly, "I feel really dizzy! Am I going to die? Bianca, I feel really terrible! I think my depression is flaring up again!"

He trembled and looked at Bianca helplessly.

Chapter 2

Bianca frowned and gave me a final warning.

"Wilson, apologize! It's our wedding today! Why must you cause so much trouble?! You're turning this into a huge joke!"

The determination in her eyes made it seem as if I would surely bow my head, just like in all previous times.

At least she knew we were at our wedding.

Xander shamelessly buried his head in her chest. The smugness and provocation in his eyes were completely undisguised.

I snickered and looked at Xander without an ounce of emotion. "Since he has a mental condition, he should just get lost and stop causing a scene."

Everyone immediately looked at me with shock and adoration in their gazes. That was because anyone who had previously called Xander crazy was hunted down by Bianca.

"Shut up! You're asking for it!"

The next moment, Bianca grabbed a wine bottle and smashed it on my head.

The scent of blood and wine flooded into my nose.

I sadly realized that even the wine we used at our wedding was Xander's favorite.

Bianca looked at me with a hint of hesitation, which soon vanished.

Then, she said icily, "An eye for an eye! Now it's even. We'll delay the wedding! We'll only get married once you get Xander's forgiveness!"

Then, she helped Xander along and stormed off.

I snickered and said, "Bianca, if you step out this door, you and I are done."

Bianca stopped in her tracks.

Xander pressed his face close to her ear, but exclaimed in a voice loud enough for everyone to hear, "Bianca, it's all my fault! Just leave me be! I'm a burden for you! I deserve to die!"

Everyone saw through Xander's terrible acting, but Bianca was looking at him with worry in her eyes.

She suddenly turned around and looked at me with determination, saying, "Wilson, look at the state Xander is in! Why are you still fooling around? Where is your conscience? Fine, let's see who else would dare marry you."

Then, she left without looking back, leaving the chaos all behind.

I took a deep breath and tried to salvage the situation.

"Everyone, I'm sorry that the wedding got interrupted. I hope you forgive me for not being a good host."

After clearing the place, I saw black and passed out.

When I woke up once more, I was at the hospital. The bandage around my forehead reminded me that everything that had happened was real.

Although the sun was shining brightly, my heart was ice cold.

Bianca came over in a rush. Her neck still had fresh red marks on it.

When she saw me come around, she sighed in relief before saying icily, "Xander's depression has flared up again. I'm going to take him out to relax. You stay in here and think about what you've done!

"You ruined the wedding. Why couldn't you have just let Xander some fun? It wasn't anything serious at all."

I said nothing.

Bianca angrily stormed off, slamming the door behind her.

Let him have fun?

I was extremely familiar with that tactic. When Bianca and I first got together, she had told me that she had a male best friend. She said that Xander was like a child and I should be more patient with him.

That went on for seven years.

Xander, in the name of helping Bianca test her boyfriend, had always tormented me.

He had torn important contracts into pieces, swapped my body wash for hair removal cream, and even tortured and killed my cat of three years.

Every time I wanted to settle the score with him, Bianca would say impatiently, "He's just doing this for my own good. Stop causing a scene!"

At our engagement party three months ago, Xander seemed to have lost his mind and drove his car straight into me.

Chapter 3

I dodged Xander's car in a panic, but the brakes suddenly failed. Luckily, the car slammed into a wall, and I barely managed to save my life.

I had just been lifted into the ambulance when the vehicle suddenly exploded.

Both of my legs were fractured, and a large shard of glass pierced deep into my abdomen. I almost died from blood loss.

When Bianca saw me pinned under the car, lying in the pool of my blood, she merely frowned and said, "Xander was badly frightened. He's not in a good place. I'll take him to the hospital."

At that time, I still held onto a sliver of hope for her. However, I lay in the hospital ward for an entire month before she finally came to visit me.

The first thing she did was plead on Xander's behalf.

"Xander's depression is getting worse. He's even threatened to kill himself to make it up. Please don't call the police. Just do it for me, please?"

I looked at Bianca, holding my hand, sobbing hard.

In the end, I gave in, but my heart started turning cold from that day on.

Lying in the quiet hospital ward, my injuries from three months ago had not fully recovered.

An endless itch mixed with pain crawled through my body, driving me almost insane.

Unable to bear it any longer, I pressed the call button, but no nurse came.

Helpless, I dialled Bianca, hoping she could arrange a caretaker for me. However, I could not reach her no matter how many times I tried.

Then, on Xander's social media, I spotted her.

They were kissing passionately in the firelight. Behind them, the burning estate was unmistakably the last place my mother had lived before she died.

In the video, they had recklessly lit fireworks around the estate, trampling on the rose garden that my mom had spent all her life's energy caring for.

Then, they set it on fire, burning the peach blossom tree that Bianca and I had planted together when we were children, until nothing remained but ashes.

Bianca let Xander set everything on fire, even stopping the firefighters from approaching, all just to see Xander smile.

I could not believe what I was watching. I called her maniacally.

After countless calls, Bianca finally answered the phone in an icy tone, "I already said that I'm taking Xander out to relax. Were you deaf or something?"

I questioned her in a hoarse voice, "Taking him to relax is one thing. How dare you touch my property?! Don't you know that's where my mother lived before she died?"

Bianca replied impatiently, "Enough. It's all your fault. There's nothing wrong in using your things to make it up to him! Besides, a dead person was once there. It'll just make that place haunted! Only you treat it as something special. Xander is just helping you cleanse that place of negative energy!"

"That was my mother!"

Facing my outburst, Bianca merely tutted and said perfunctorily, "Your mother's long dead! Why let such a huge estate go to waste? Do you have that much money that you don't even know how to spend it?"

She added, "I've already sent out news that we'll have our wedding the day after tomorrow. This time, you must cheer Xander up. Once he's feeling better, we'll get our marriage registered. Xander really is too kind…"

Her words disgusted me so much that I felt a heave of nausea.

Xander's voice rang out in the background, "Bianca, are you done washing up? I'm ready! I've prepared red wine and candles tonight. It'll make you very happy!"

Bianca explained in a soft panicked voice, "I promised Xander a candlelight dinner. Go get some rest. I'll see you at the wedding the day after tomorrow!"

Then, she hung up.

I looked at my phone, finding it all rather comical.

We were all adults. Anyone could tell what was going on from the faint panting and sound of water mixed into her final explanation.

Suddenly, my phone vibrated.

It was a message from the wedding gown shop.

[Mr. Fuller, the wedding dress that Ms. Newton has sent over has been cleaned. When would you like it delivered?]
