Chapter 1
I never thought that the plot of the novel would happen to me.
"If you break up with my son, I will give you five million dollars."
Eric Forbes' mother Julie threw the check in front of me with an arrogant attitude.
God knew how happy I was. How could I give up such a chance?
Any hesitation would be my disrespect for money.
"Mrs. Forbes, since you said so, I will just take it."
I picked up the check on the ground, packed up, and prepared to run away.
Before leaving, I said, "Mrs. Forbes, I will leave him far away."
I breathed a sigh of relief when I left the cafe, and looking at the check in my hand felt a little unreal.
If I had known that Julie was so generous, I should have just pleased her instead of following Eric, that bastard.
When I thought of Eric, I shivered all over.
When Eric called me, I was busy packing money.
Given his personality, I knew if I didn't answer his call within a minute, he would take a flight from abroad to teach me a lesson.
As soon as I answered the phone, he spoke impatiently, "Why did it take you so much time to answer my call?
"What are you hiding from me?" he said this with his unique accent.
For a moment, my heart skipped a beat and I looked around to see if I had been discovered.
As I expected, I was not good at doing bad things. My hands were shaking with guilt.
My right hand was tightly holding my left hand, which was shaking with nervousness, to prevent myself from dropping the phone.
I pretended calm and said, "No, what can I do? I'm just lying at home."
I didn't know if Eric had noticed anything strange about me. He didn't say anything. I could only hear his light breathing on the other end of the phone.
About three minutes later, he spoke again, "Just wait for me at home."
"Okay." Suddenly, I felt relieved.
Before hanging up again, to better prepare for my escape, I tentatively asked, "When will you be back?"
"Eva, you better not be betraying me." Eric's voice got louder and more serious.
And his tone was not of questioning but of affirmation.
I panicked instantly and tensed up again.
I forgot that I always wished that he would not appear in front of me, so how could I take the initiative to ask him when he would come back?
So I hurriedly explained, "My grandma's medical bills are due soon, so I want to make more money from you."
There was no better reason than this because Eric was my financial sponsor. I made money by serving him. He knew too well how much I needed money.
But he was so moody and difficult to please, and I tried my best to please him, only then could I afford my grandma's medical expenses.
I thought, "I will no longer serve you and leave this job to anyone willing to do so."
But I only dared to think about this. If Eric knew about this, he, as a pervert, would kill me.
"Three days later." He hung up the phone with a click.
There were still three days left.
If Eric hadn't gone too far, I wouldn't have ended up like this. He was so stingy but had so many demands. If I didn't run away, he would die because of him.
I used the money to pay off my debt to the hospital and found a new nursing home for my grandmother.
Tory was a good friend of my father and he promised me that he would keep it a secret for me and would never let Eric know the whereabouts of my grandmother.
My grandmother had been ill since she suffered a major trauma a year ago. She couldn't recognize people or speak. She just lived in her world.
But it was better this way so that she wouldn't remember the pain of the past.
Before leaving, I said goodbye to my grandma, "Grandma, I'm leaving now, but I will come back to see you in the future."
I couldn't stop crying and fell on her knees.
This time my grandma seemed to understand and patted me on the back like she did when I was a child.
My grandmother once said I was her most precious and best granddaughter.
But now I couldn't take her with me.
Eric was a man who easily held grudges. I cheated him, so he would never let me off easily.
Chapter 2
I didn't dare use my ID card because I was afraid that Eric would find me. Fortunately, I met a very nice madam on the road.
I lied to her that I accidentally lost my ID card. It happened that she was going to the same place as me and felt sorry for me so she took me with her, and after many twists and turns, I finally arrived at my grandmother's home when she was a child.
This place was far away from Audran and located in a remote area. I believed that no matter how capable Eric was, he would never be able to find me.
But when I was surfing the Internet, I found that Eric was very despicable by chance.
He posted online saying that Johnathan Morgan's daughter Eva had swindled a huge amount of money and absconded with the money.
In an instant, the Internet was abuzz with discussions. The Morgan family became a hot topic again in the same way a year later.
I read the bottom of the page and saw an interview with Eric. In the video, he was dressed decently and answered the reporter's questions with ease.
The female reporter in professional attire went straight to the point, "Mr. Forbes, who is Ms. Morgan to you?"
Eric was silent for a moment, raised his hand to adjust his glasses, and narrowed his eyes slightly.
After being with him for a year, I knew that his move meant he was a little angry. He had never liked people paying attention to his private life.
The female reporter was also very tactful and quickly gave him a way out, "If you don't want to answer this, let's move on to the next question."
I felt bored, and just as I was about to leave this page, I heard Eric's decisive voice.
"No, she is my girlfriend."
I didn't expect him to answer like that. When I thought about it, I just felt that he was extremely hypocritical.
There was a burst of screams from the audience.
The reporter was also very excited. "So what do you think of this incident about Ms. Morgan?"
"As long as she comes back and admits her mistake, I will forgive her for what she did."
The screams got louder.
Eric looked straight at the camera, his eyes seemed to have penetrated the screen, shooting towards me coldly like an arrow.
I felt a chill and quickly exited the page.
The news that Eric admitted that I was her girlfriend went viral in an instant, and the previous rumors that I was a mistress and a gold digger were all refuted.
News about me was in the headlines of all major media.
Although I had always been gossipy, I never expected that one day I would see gossiping about myself online.
I clicked on one of the posts randomly, and I found that all the comments were praising Eric.
[Eric is so handsome.]
[You are so generous.]
[Please be my boyfriend, I won't cheat on your money.]
Of course, there were also a lot of insults directed at me.
[She is a fraud.]
[She is so ungrateful.]
[She doesn't know how lucky she is.]
I was speechless.
I would rather give this blessing to others.
The Internet was amazing!
Various photos of mine were also dug up, most of which were taken a year ago.
At that time, I looked very happy and innocent with a bright smile.
I looked through the photos one by one and realized that so much could change in just one year. I was no longer the carefree little girl I once was.
Our company went bankrupt, and my father, who had been strong all his life, couldn't bear it and committed suicide by jumping off a building.
He jumped off from the 22nd floor. Although he was afraid of heights, he dared to jump off the building but did not dare to live.
I was exhausted by the series of misfortunes. Everything went smoothly for me in the past twenty-two years and I had never experienced such a big change.
When Kevin Milton came to my house with the IOU with a huge amount of money, I didn't think much about it but thought it was borrowed by my father before he died.
My father had always been the one who kept his promises, so as his daughter, it was natural for me to repay this debt.
Later I found out that it was a trap set by them.
When Kevin came to collect the debt, Eric was there looking at me coldly. They said because we were once classmates, they would give me five more days.
I foolishly thanked them at that time, which was ridiculous when I thought about it now.
I sold the only house I had left, but it wasn't enough to pay off the debt.
Chapter 3
I was in the hospital when Eric came to me.
My grandmother was unconscious. I sat at the door of the ward waiting in a daze. It was very quiet around me. He stood in front of me, looking down at me. There was a light shining on me, but I just felt cold.
Eric spoke coldly.
"Eva, I can help you pay off the rest of your debt, but..."
I interrupted him before he finished speaking, "What are the conditions?"
Businessmen cared most about profits. I didn't think Eric would help me for no reason.
Seeing that I was so direct, he no longer concealed it and seemed to have laughed, but I didn't hear it clearly.
I looked at him straight, trying to tell something from him. Suddenly he leaned over and whispered in my ear, "You know what I want."
He said it intimately, and his light breath hit my face, and I was stunned for a moment.
What Eric, who was outstanding, would want to get from me?
I laughed too. I knew what he wanted.
"I agree."
That night I followed Eric to his private residence. I didn't know if it was my illusion, he seemed to look at me with the joy of getting what he wanted.
I was scared, but he was happy.
For a moment, I even wanted to push him away and refuse him.
But then I thought, my grandma is still in the hospital, so I endured it.
Eric watched my expression keep changing, he became happy, and his movements became gentler.
But I still started crying, and I felt sad when I remembered that I had never been in a relationship before this.
"Eva, why are you so delicate?"
After signing the agreement, the next day, Eric repaid the debt I owed Kevin as agreed, and he became my new creditor.
I didn't know when I could pay it back. It all depended on his mood. If he was happy, I would get more to offset my debt. If he was unhappy, I would get nothing.
And I couldn't leave but stayed with him for the full three years.
Eric had a strong desire for control. Although he did not restrict my freedom, he required me to be available anytime.
He always called me suddenly. When I finally found a job, I was called into his car by him.
Eric held me on his lap and kissed me eagerly.
I was suffocated by his kiss but was anxious to get back to work, so I looked reluctant.
"Eva, can you concentrate a little?" After saying that, he bit my lips hard.
I touched my lips and found that he had bitten my lips to bleed.
I was instantly annoyed.
"Hurry up, I only asked for an hour off, I have to go back to work."
He didn't indulge me but pushed me away heavily.
"Since you can't focus on me, then don't go to work."
My head hit the car window with a thud.
I endured the pain, sat up, and started to pack my clothes. "I need money."
"Haven't I given you enough?"
I laughed when he said this. He gave me a lot but he also deducted money from me a lot.
If I was late, I would be deducted money.
If I had a bad attitude, I would be deducted money.
If I didn't please him hard enough, I would be deducted money.
He would even do something out of my imagination. Under his strict suppression, I was professional and had a better acting skill.
But I was getting more and more tired.
Apart from the money I had to pay back to Eric every month, I could hardly afford even my grandma's medical expenses.
I sighed in my heart.
Why was I so unlucky?
I must seize the chance of running away.
So I decided to take advantage of Eric's business trip to find his mother, Julie.
I rummaged through my closets to find the most colorful clothes, then put on exaggerated makeup, long manicures, and sprayed heavy perfume.
When I looked in the mirror, I was shocked myself.
I found myself looking so disgusting.
After getting out of the taxi, I quickly adjusted my state and was determined to show my best acting skills.
I walked exaggeratedly, looking vulgar and materialistic.
The taxi driver didn't expect a young girl like me could have two sides.
"I will give you a five-star rating."
