Chapter 3

The next day, when I woke up, Victor had just entered the bedroom. He subconsciously wanted to launch himself at me.

I immediately avoided his advances. I was physically repulsed by him.

Victor thought I was sick, so he glanced at my ankle worriedly. He then fetched me my jacket.

“Darling, put on your jacket.”

“Where are we going?”

Victor sighed. “Darling, you’re acting like a child. It’s obvious that you’re feeling unwell. I’ll bring you to the hospital for another check-up.”

Victor brought me to the hospital.

We had just entered the hospital when we bumped into Charlotte.

She was pressing her hand against her lower abdomen as she stood there with a pale face.

Victor immediately let go of me. I hit my ankle against the wall and immediately broke out in cold sweat due to the pain.

He could no longer see me. He rushed forward and put his arm around Charlotte. “Are you sick? Why didn’t you call me for help?”

Charlotte smiled and shook her head at him, but it was obvious that she was sizing me up.

I was wearing the same jacket as her.

“I just had a stomachache. Why are you here together?”

Victor touched his nose as he avoided her gaze. He immediately lied.

“Louise’s younger sister’s ankle is injured, so she asked me to bring Georgia to see a doctor.”

I was already used to his excuses.

Since Victor chose to hide our relationship, whenever we ran into any of his friends, he would say, “Louise is overseas, so she asked me to take care of Georgia.”

Only his closest friends knew that he was dating me.

Charlotte nodded. “Then you should bring Georgia in, I…”

Before she could finish talking, she suddenly frowned and pressed her hand against her abdomen again.

The next second, Victor carried her in his arms.

“Georgia, wait for me for a while. Since Charlotte is feeling unwell, I’ll send her in first.”

I lowered my gaze.

Blood was already oozing out from my wound and staining the bandage. It was extremely painful.

I looked at Victor as he left. He looked extremely nervous.

I smiled coldly.

It turned out that for someone who acted so well, he would lose his composure when he encountered the person he loved the most.

“Oh no! You’re bleeding!” The nurse immediately got some help for me.

I looked down and noticed the blood was a vivid red. I could smell the blood, but Victor did not even notice it.

The nurse said, “Did you break your ankle, or did you accidentally fall into glass shards?”

Victor pushed me down very forcefully the other day.

When I fell down, I accidentally knocked over a wine bottle. The glass shards pierced through my ankle, and I broke the bone too. I grew up in a loving family. Normally, my family would want to admit me to the hospital over any minor injury. However, it was different. I clenched my fist, and I could not say a word.

After the nurse tended to my injury, I was already drenched in cold sweat.

The nurse said, “Alright, just take good care of your injury. Ask your boyfriend to take you home. Be careful not to strain your wound any further.”

I subconsciously wanted to send Victor a text. It had become a part of my muscle memory.

Chapter 4

It had been an hour since I entered the hospital.

Victor had not returned.

“Is no one coming to pick you up?” the nurse asked. It was only then that I gave Victor a call.

However, Victor had completely forgotten that he only came to the hospital with me in the first place.

“I’m sorry, Georgia. Charlotte suddenly felt unwell, so I sent her home…”

Before he could finish talking, I heard someone saying from his side, “Your husband treats you so well! He immediately bought you all these flowers after you said you liked them!”

I could hear Charlotte speaking next to Victor.

Even though Victor had immediately walked away, I still heard the conversation very clearly.

“Alright.”

I ended the call. Victor sent me a text message.

[Darling, I’ll explain to you when I go home.]

He was just trying to lie to me again.

I hailed a cab and went back home with my crutches.

I did not manage to get an explanation from him on the same night.

Victor did not come back at all.

I had just ended a business call with an overseas client and sent the publicity strategy proposal for the first quarter. I was rubbing my eyes tiredly when I received a text message.

[Victor, have you really gotten together with Charlotte? What about Georgia?]

I clicked on the screenshot that he sent. It was a screenshot of Charlotte’s social media page.

Her house was covered in flowers.

Charlotte was sitting in the middle of the flower bouquets, and she was wearing Victor’s jacket, which I had bought for him. She was smiling very sweetly.

The caption read, [You still belong to me.]

From the French windows, I could see Victor’s reflection as he took this photo for her.

It was then I realized that I had accidentally signed in to Victor’s account.

Victor replied from his phone, [Stop it!]

His friend sent a suggestive sticker to him.

I shut my laptop and got a good sleep.

Three days later, I submitted all my proposals and my resignation letter to the CEO.

The CEO did not want me to leave, but he was happy for me as well.

“Georgia, you’ve been working with me since you graduated. I really don’t want to let you go, but I want to congratulate you for finding your own happiness!”

The CEO and a few managers invited me for a farewell meal. It was the same restaurant that Victor and I went to for our first date and a few subsequent anniversaries.

Victor used to say, “Darling, when I propose to you in the future, I’ll do it here too. We will be able to see the most beautiful night view from here!”

Halfway through the meal, I planned to sneak out to pay for the meal when I bumped into Charlotte.
