Chapter 4
Rowena looked at my husband with admiration and said in a coquettish voice, “Howell, you look so manly right now.”
I interrupted Howell, “Apologizing to that bitch is out of the question. I’ll hold her legally responsible later. We’ve been separated for several years, which is equivalent to a divorce. Even if you don’t sign, the divorce agreement will still take effect.”
I had made my point very clear. Howell was also a man who cared deeply about his reputation. He had just finished his words, then signed the divorce agreement with a look of reluctance.
“Camilla, I’d like to see how long you can keep being so hard on me. When you regret your actions and want to rekindle our relationship, it won’t be as simple as asking you to kowtow and apologize to Rowena.”
Although Howell was walking out, he walked deliberately slowly. He waited until I regretted my actions, called him over and then accepted all the harsh terms.
Because of my past self, it had always been like this. Seeing my cold, pretty face, he couldn’t help but panic.
“Howell, wait a moment!”
As I spoke, a deep smile broke out on Howell’s face. He said to Rowena, “I’ve told you long ago that Camilla can’t live without me. It’s too late for her to regret it now. You’ll see for yourself how I’m going to teach Camilla a lesson tonight!”
I slammed a suitcase filled with old clothes at the door.
“Get out of here with all your dirty clothes. From now on, we’re no longer husband and wife, but strangers with no connection.”
Howell stared at me with his mouth wide open for a long time after I finished speaking. He seemed unable to accept my heartlessness.
I closed the door. I would never look at this pair of bastards again. When I loved Howell, I truly loved him. Now I didn’t and I truly didn’t love him anymore.
All that existed between us now was hatred. And after the truth was revealed, how would I exact revenge on my husband’s childhood sweetheart? My poor daughter’s death must not be in vain.
A few minutes passed, Howell’s curses and the aroma of Rowena’s tea continued to drift in. They not only cursed me, but also swore that I would regret it.
I truly regretted it. I regretted not leaving this man who didn’t love me sooner, which led to my daughter’s accident.
The next day, I searched the entire city and finally chose a burial site for my daughter.
The cemetery was surrounded by verdant mountains and clear waters, with birds singing and flowers blooming, like a fairytale world.
When Skye was alive, she didn’t receive her father’s love, nor did she live a happy life. I hoped she could be forever happy in the grave.
As I walked towards my daughter’s grave and carried the urn, Rowena appeared. As she approached, she rudely blocked my path. “We meet again.”
Chapter 5
Because my husband wasn’t around, she dropped even the pretense of weakness, instead sporting a sinister smile. “Camilla, Howell and I have actually been in a relationship for a long time. You don’t think I’m a mistress, do you?”
“You admitted it yourself, not me.” On the day of my daughter’s burial, I didn’t want to get into a fight. Rowena provoked me directly, but I wasn’t about to let her go.
My gentle, neither soft nor harsh taunting remark, completely broke Rowena’s defenses. “You’re the mistress. Only women who aren’t loved by men are mistresses. Howell loves me to the core, yet he won’t even look at you all year. Therefore, you’re the shameless mistress.”Rowena roared and reached out to grab my daughter’s ashes. I struggled to wrest it back. “Rowena, let me go. If this leads to serious consequences, I will kill you.”
“I came from a poor, remote mountain village. I’ve seen all sorts of evil. You can’t scare me.”
As we scrambled for the urn, Howell approached from afar.
A strange smile appeared on Rowena’s face. Suddenly, she let go, sat on the ground and cried miserably.
“Camilla, I’ve already apologized for Skye. I didn’t kill her. Why won’t you forgive me? You even pushed me to the ground. Will you only be satisfied if I die? If so, I’d rather die right here in front of you.”
When he heard this, my husband rushed over and gritted his teeth.
He didn’t even give me a chance to explain. He raised his hand and slapped me. The slap was truly brutal.
At that moment, countless stars flashed before my eyes. “Camilla, you’re not done yet, are you? I was there when Skye got into trouble. Skye’s death isn’t Rowena’s fault, nor is it anyone else’s. It was just her own bad luck.”
“How many people are trapped in cars in Akso every day? Why didn’t others die, but Skye? Can’t you look for the reason in Skye?”
My husband and I had an only daughter who died.
Not only did my husband not investigate the truth, but he placed all the blame on his daughter. What kind of man did I fall for back then?
Howell unexpectedly spotted the urn in my hand. “You were fighting with Rowena for this thing just now, weren’t you? Why do you always fight with her?”
My husband reached out to grab the urn from my arms. He was much stronger than me. With just one move, he snatched our daughter’s urn from me.
The next moment, my husband slammed the urn containing our daughter to the ground. The small urn shattered instantly.
