Chapter 2
Making trouble? I was so angry that I almost fainted.
“Frederick, you are a conscienceless ungrateful person! How could my sister be so blind to choose you to marry! When you married my sister, you knelt in front of the graves of my parents and brother and promised that you would treat her well for the rest of your life and you treated her like this?! You are a beast!”
Ramona looked impatient, raised her hand and slapped me a few more times.
I fell on the sofa and knocked over the box on it.
The red book of medals inside fell to the ground.
Ramona didn’t even look at it and stepped on it with disdain.
“You poor fellows, you are still here to hand over some insignificant papers. Don’t you just want me to pay more money? I have seen this kind of thing many times.”
As she said, she threw another card at my feet.
“Since your sister, the sick woman, has served Frederick wholeheartedly for so long, I will be merciful and give you a little more. I advise you to stop while you are ahead. After all, I only paid 13,000 dollars when I killed someone.”
In a light tone, a life was like a feather in her mouth.
Ramona felt tired and left a sentence for us to pack up and leave quickly. If we hadn’t left this place in three days, we would be in trouble.
She hugged Frederick’s arm and walked away.
After they left, I rushed to the bedside and held my sister’s hand tightly.
My heart was filled with grief. “Sister, don’t worry, I will definitely help you get justice.”
The appeal route was not working, so I could only take my sister’s injury report to the local Women’s Federation, hoping that they could intervene in this matter. Who knew that when I went there, they acted like a mouse seeing a cat.
One moment they said that my sister’s beating was not their business, that it was a civil case and that I should go to the police. The next moment, they said that this matter was a family dispute and that they could only mediate. Seeing that I remained unmoved, a kind-hearted elder sister sighed and advised me not to pursue it further.
“Miss Knight, who beat people, has already said that she will pay for your sister’s medical expenses and the cost of her subsequent rehabilitation. In addition, with the court’s ruling, your matter has been resolved.”
I couldn’t believe it. “Aren’t you an organization that makes decisions for women to petition? Why did Ramona, a mistress, bring people to beat up the original wife and rupture her spleen and you just pretended not to see it? How much benefit did you receive from her!”
Her face changed immediately when she heard this. “You little girl, don’t talk nonsense here. I’m telling you these heartfelt words for your own good. Why are you blaming me? I warn you, if you keep talking nonsense and making trouble here, don’t blame me for asking the security guards to throw you out.”
Why, why did this world only serve the powerful?
My sister was still lying in the ward and couldn’t even get out of bed.
The victim had nowhere to appeal, but the perpetrator was arrogant and at large!
I was finally kicked out of the Women’s Federation office.
I had no choice but to go to the police station.
After listening to my petition, the police were willing to take over my case.
Who knew that one by one, after hearing the court’s verdict, they all started to refuse.
“Little girl, when your sister was beaten, she had not divorced your brother-in-law. This situation can only be attributed to family disputes. What’s more, your brother-in-law has signed a letter of understanding. There is no room for maneuver in this matter.”
“Family dispute? My sister was almost beaten to death and you actually said it was a family dispute! Don’t you have a daughter? If your daughter was beaten like this, would you still sit back and do nothing!”
Chapter 3
The police looked unhappy because of what I said.
Although I sympathized with my experience, I couldn’t do anything at all.
“Little girl, I understand your feelings, but no matter which bureau you take the matter of signing the letter of apology, there is only one result. I advise you to strive for the compensation your sister deserves to the greatest extent possible. This result is already a happy ending for everyone.”
I walked out of the police station crying.
Standing on the side of the road in a daze, the injury report in my hand was crumpled into a ball and my heart was extremely sad. I didn’t know where else to go.
But soon, I rekindled my fighting spirit.
My sister only had me as a relative and I couldn’t ignore her.
If no one in the city dared to take care of it, I would report it to the province.
I didn’t believe Ramona could cover everything with one hand to such an extent.
I suppressed my emotions and walked back and suddenly I was knocked unconscious with a black cloth and dragged into a van.
When I woke up again, I found myself in an abandoned factory.
My body was tied to a chair and I struggled desperately to call for help. In the empty factory, there was only my echo.
I was so scared that I trembled all over, but I still forced myself to stay calm.
I didn’t know how long it took, Ramona and Frederick came from not far away.
Ramona had a gloomy face and kicked over the chair I was sitting on with anger.
“You little bitch, you pretend not to understand what I said to you, right!”
As she said, she crushed the back of my hand with the heel of her high heels.
I was convulsed with pain and wanted to retract my hand, but because I was tied, I couldn’t move at all.
The pain compressed my nerves and I screamed in pain.
“Ramona, God is watching you. You will definitely get your retribution!”
This sentence annoyed Ramona even more.
She rubbed my scarred hands hard again.
“Retribution? I told you long ago that if I want to kill you, it’s as easy as killing an ant! You lowly poor guys, I don’t care about you. Do you really think you can fight me?”
As she said, she bent down and grabbed my hair, with such force that my scalp was bleeding and the blood mixed with mud flowed onto my face, as scary as a ghost.
Ramona let go of me in disgust and ordered Frederick to come and deal with me.
I was beaten to death by the rain of punches and kicks.
I spat out a mouthful of blood mixed with the teeth that were knocked out on the ground.
When I started to roll my eyes, Ramona stopped Frederick.
“Okay, don’t beat her to death. It will be too troublesome to deal with it later.”
As she said that, she walked to me, squatted down and put a video in front of me.
The protagonist in the video was my sister.
She was like a commodity, knocked unconscious and raped. The man in the video had an ugly face and from time to time he pulled my sister’s face to look at the camera.
He also commented crazily on my sister’s figure. Not long after, I heard the laughter of Frederick and Ramona in the video.
Frederick was tired and a little out of breath.
Looking at the video with a meaningful look on her face, she said, “How is it? The man I found is not bad. Look how comfortable your sister is.”
I made a sharp cry and struggled desperately. The hemp rope rubbed my wrist and was immediately stained red with blood.
“You beast! You beast!”
Frederick seemed to be unable to hear. “Ramona and I are in love. How could I touch your sister’s ugly face? Every time after the incident, she woke up and lay in my arms with a shy face, saying that I was great. Do you know how funny it is?”
Frederick laughed. “Once she was pregnant and I found three men to have sex with her together. She had a miscarriage on the spot. When she woke up, she knelt down and apologized to me, saying that she had not protected our child well. It was really funny.”
Chapter 4
Ramona covered her mouth and laughed, as if she was listening to a funny story.
“Belinda, I will give you one last chance. If you stop here, I will pretend that this incident never happened. If you have those crooked thoughts again and want to overturn the verdict and avenge your sister, then don’t blame me putting these videos online and letting everyone see how your sister is a slut, huh?”
I was filled with grief and anger, vomited a mouthful of blood and fainted.
When I woke up again, I found myself thrown on the side of the road.
I walked toward my sister’s ward like a zombie.
I met many doctors along the way and they were shocked by my bloody appearance.
They surrounded me and wanted to take me to the hospital for rescue.
I pushed them away as if I couldn’t see them. “Sister, I want to go find my sister…”
I turned a deaf ear to the doctor’s reprimand. Now I just wanted to see my sister. They had no choice but to give me a sedative.
When I woke up again, I found that my sister and I were lying in the same ward.
The doctor on duty couldn’t help sighing when he saw us like this.
“I don’t know what sin you committed. How could two good girls be tortured like this?”
My sister cried so hard that she wanted to touch my head, but she couldn’t even get out of bed.
I spoke weakly. “Sister, why has the world become like this? We are obviously the victims.”
My sister couldn’t speak with an oxygen mask on and could only cry desperately.
“Tell me, when parents and brothers sacrificed themselves, would they think of their daughters and sisters who were tortured like this? Sister, it would be great if our parents and brothers were still here. If they were still here, would we not be bullied?”
I dragged my wounded body and walked sadly to my sister’s side.
I picked up the box that had been placed in the bedside table.
It was full of medals and red books that parents and brothers had exchanged their lives for.
“When they sent back the ashes of our parents and brother, they clearly said that they would help us if there was any problem. But why, when we were harmed to this point and had nowhere to turn to, no one showed up?”
As I watched, a tear from the corner of my eye fell on the medal that symbolized first-class merit.
I made up my mind and decided to do this last thing for my sister.
If it still didn’t work, I would drag Ramona and Frederick to hell and never let them live happily.
I insisted on taking my sister out of the hospital despite all the doctors’ obstructions.
I carried her on my back, staggering.
I walked step by step to the door of the city government.
Looking at the big red characters “Serve the People” written on the gate, under the party emblem, tears flowed down my face.
I put my sister on the ground and held the medal in both hands.
I shouted loudly, “In broad daylight, Frederick colluded with the mistress to kill my sister!”
My shouting attracted many security guards, who thought I was here to cause trouble and shouted to drive me away.
“Go away, do you know where this is? Hurry up and leave.”
“If you want to cause trouble, you don’t have to choose a place. Believe it or not, I will lock you up in the police station for two days!”
I turned a deaf ear to their threats.
The security guard saw that he couldn’t scare me and immediately winked at his colleague next to him.
“Hurry up and take her away! The car of the municipal party secretary will come in soon. If it is hit, we will lose our jobs!”
When they heard it, they got anxious and hurriedly came up to drag me away. I held the box of medals tightly.
“I am here to appeal for justice, I am here to appeal for justice!”
“Do you think this is ancient times? You are still appealing for justice? If you have grievances, go to the police. If you don’t leave, don’t blame us for being rude!”
I was dragged on the ground and my back was rubbed by the floor and it hurt.
They didn’t dare touch my sister, fearing that someone might die, so they could only carry her aside.
No! No! I couldn’t miss this opportunity!
I struggled desperately and the security guard was careless for a moment and I broke free.
He saw me trying to run inside again and kicked me in the back in a rage.
I fell to the ground and my chin was bleeding.
The security guard trotted over. “If you don’t accept it, you will be punished!”
He was about to take action, but suddenly a whistle sounded behind him.
