Chapter 4
He didn’t make sense at all and he was terrible at defending his shortcomings.
The call was hung up, I called back and was informed that I had been blocked.
I was so angry that I was shaking all over and my lungs started to hurt again due to my breathing. The scene in front of me turned dark and I almost fell down, but a pair of hands helped me in time.
"Pretty Lady, you will come as expected." The person who supported me was Sheryl, a senior in the same laboratory as me.
She patted my shoulder and sighed, "Don't worry, the teacher's old team is still there, he has absorbed us all. The teacher is worried about you the most. He told me that if you want to go there, you can do it at any time. We are a big family and we can't live without anyone."
The long-term unfair treatment caused my forced composure to completely collapse. Tears fell in large drops and I couldn't wipe them away no matter how hard I wiped them away.
Sheryl didn’t say anything and held me in her arms, "It's okay, I know everything, I know everything. Don't want a man who has changed his mind. There will be better ones in the future. Wait for the senior sister to stabilize, take you to a nightclub and hire five or six male models..."
Sheryl's confident look made me laugh.
"Good."
Then I watched Sheryl get into the car.
A stone in my heart finally fell.
I took out my mobile phone and calculated the royalties I received from publishing my previous experimental papers and most of them were remitted to the teacher. I used it as a fund reserve for future experiments.
Suzanne sent me several photos with mentors from well-known experimental teams. Among them were scientists I had always wanted to work with. There were also one or two who have agreed to be my technical advisors.
[Those who love me think long-term projects for me. Maria, you said that with these outstanding scientific researchers as mentors, how long will it take for me to catch up with you?]
As soon as she finished sending the message, the technical consultants on the back who had promised to do a good job sent a message to cancel the cooperation. My heart no longer had any fluctuations. Then I blacklisted her.
Suzanne and I were roommates in college. But the relationship had always been bad, but the bad relationship really started when during an experiment, I found that she plagiarized my experimental data.
But she forgot that the experimental projects of her group and ours were different, which also led to her plagiarism being exposed and being cast aside by many people. But she thought it was me who told the secret and kept targeting me.
When I was about to graduate in my senior year, she didn’t know when she found out about my relationship with the two Johansson brothers, so she created a beauty rescue hero and successfully infiltrated the Johansson Family.
One was a lifesaver and the other was just a foster woman who was like a parasite. From that moment on, the mind began to deviate passively. Moved little by little.

As I returned to the Johansson Family. Only Freddie came back. He seemed to have come back to pick up something. Just as he was about to leave in a hurry, he saw me walking out pushing my suitcase.
There was sarcasm in his eyes, "What? You figured it out and finally don't want to continue sucking the blood of our Johansson Family. And now you want to leave?"
There were too many emotional ups and downs.
Facing his words at this moment, I was able to accept it calmly, "Yeah, I don't want to continue sucking blood."
I took out two bank cards. Freddie knew those cards. The Johansson Family used to pay them pocket money on that card. He and his brother both had one. I had one too.

But it was no use to me. All I had used over the years were the subsidies left over from my parents’ accidents. When I returned to the room, I deliberately calculated the other expenses I had spent at the Johansson Family over the years and transferred a separate card.
Freddie's expression stiffened for a moment, but it passed quickly, "Okay, I'm just kidding you. Our Johansson Family has a great business, but we still need your hundreds of thousands."
He didn't look at me, but his words were a little softer, "Maria, after all, we have grown up together for so many years. As long as you don't target Suzanne, you can continue to live in the Johansson Family and we can still be like before."
"If Suzanne chooses to be with my brother in the future, I can reluctantly marry you. Isn't it nice that we are in harmony like this?"
When he saw that I didn't answer, his expression instantly turned into impatience, "Okay, as if I don't want to marry you, you can leave if you want."
I watched his slowly disappearing figure and walked towards another road without stopping.
That was to go to the Johansson Family's old house. There were some things that always needed to be sorted out and I could do it too.
***
After entering the old house, I was politely invited to the living room. Uncle Mark and Aunt Rosie were in the living room. As soon as she saw me, Aunt Rosie's eyes flashed with disgust.
I could see clearly that when Uncle Mark took me into the Johansson Family, his wife disliked me very much and always thought that I was his illegitimate daughter.
After living here for a long time, she intentionally or unintentionally tried to isolate me from the people around her. I was used to seeing her like this again.
I pushed the bank card over and made it clear that I wanted to leave.
Aunt Rosie immediately sneered, "Why would you let my two boys go to that small place? Don't you want to catch someone as your husband? Are you giving up now?"
"Rosie!" Uncle Mark looked at her with a warning look, but Aunt Rosie was not afraid at all.
She said directly to him, "We're not afraid of thieves, we're afraid of being missed by thieves. Am I wrong? Just ask her if she's missed. She came from the countryside. If you hadn't been kind enough to take her in, she would have been like those without a father or a mother. Sneaking, selling..."
The more she spoke, the worse she got. By the last sentence, Uncle Mark couldn't stand it anymore and slapped her in the face. I had never seen Uncle Mark so angry. His eyes seemed to be sparking.
"That's enough. I just want to care about her. Do you understand that our two sons are not worthy?"
The two people quarreled. I didn't want to get involved in the fight between the two people, so I put down my bank card and was about to leave, but I was stopped.
Uncle Mark's eyes were a little red and he looked obviously emotional, "Why do you say they don't deserve her? Because her parents' lives are on my body."
He talked a lot, a lot. He had made a mistake in his judgment when he was the superior who assigned the mission. Also remember how he took me home despite all the opposition.
But I didn't expect that I was always treated coldly in this family. He actually shed tears when he talked about his sadness. I felt sour and uncomfortable in my heart and I quickly reached out to pull out the tissue, but my injured hand was exposed.
"Your hands..." Aunt Rosie reacted from the shock, with disbelief in her eyes.
She finally understood what she had done all these years. She wasn't originally evil-hearted and didn't treat me well. She just thought I had something to do with Uncle Mark. Similar to an illegitimate daughter, or the daughter of first love... That kind of bloody relationship. But I didn't expect that there was this layer hidden behind it.
At this moment, she regretted crazily, "I, I don't know, then why didn't you tell me? If you tell me clearly, I won't..."
Halfway through her words, she obviously realized her husband's previous special status.
"I'm sorry, Maria, I don't know. I'm really sorry..."
As soon as I handed Uncle Mark a tissue, she rushed over excitedly and apologized to me.
Before I could react, my hand was grabbed. The wound was scratched.
I hid my hands behind my back, but I was still discovered. The two of them were finally in sync.
"What happened to your hand?"
