Chapter 2

I was stunned after being slapped. I was filled with anger but could only warn myself.

I was reborn. I've got to cherish the chance. Don't spook them.

Wendy came back to her senses and choked, her eyes red.

"Georgia doesn't wanna see me. Fine! I'll leave!"

After saying that, she staggered out of the room.

Seeing that, Keith kicked me off the bed.

"Apologize! Or go back to your mother's house!"

Keith dared to say that because he was sure I would never leave him.

In my previous life, I cut off ties with my parents for him.

After getting pregnant, I even gave up a high-paying job for him.

Even though Keith told others that I lived off his family, I dared not argue.

But the truth was, Keith and Wendy had been spending my dowry. Keith even used my money to keep a mistress!

So, in this life, I'd never compromise again.

I took out the property deed from the safe and threw it in his face fiercely.

"This is my house. You and Wendy should be the ones being kicked out!"

Keith was infuriated.

"Who wants to live with you anyway? Other women are gentle and considerate. Only you get jealous so easily!

"You are pregnant. Who else can take care of you besides us?"

He looked arrogant and believed that he could control me.

"Don't come begging me to come back!"

I was extremely disgusted.

"Get lost!"

When I was kicked, my belly hit somewhere, and now my stomach was in pain. I was afraid of bleeding, so I hurried to the bathroom only to find that the door was locked.

Seemed Wendy was retching inside.

I just remembered that in my previous life, at this time, Wendy was already pregnant.

So, I deliberately asked loudly at the door, "Wendy? Why are vomiting?"

Keith hurriedly came over and asked.

"What's wrong, Mom?"

After dawdling for a while, Wendy finally opened the door.

"Nothing. I haven't had much of an appetite lately, and I feel like throwing up after eating." Wendy glanced at me out of the corner of her eye and pretended to be pitiful again. "It's not because Georgia has upset me."

I couldn't help but sneer.

"Go to the hospital. You don't wanna fall ill, do you?"

But Wendy pushed us away in a panic.

"I'm not going to the hospital!"

Realizing that her reaction was too strong, she tried to make up for it.

"I know my own body. Keith, let's go. Georgia can't wait to see us gone."

Keith glared at me fiercely.

"If something happens to Mom, I'll see how you make up for it!"

How I make up for it?

I want to see how you two make up for it.

I went back to the room while saying, "Get out of my house within an hour."

Chapter 3

The next morning, I slept in and woke up naturally, which was rare.

The warm sun shone on me, and I was in a better mood.

I leisurely made breakfast, and when I took a bite, I realized that I hadn't had a warm breakfast in a long time.

Keith had a weak stomach and high demands for breakfast.

In my previous life, Wendy would "thoughtfully" wake me up at 5:30 a.m. every morning and ask me to make breakfast for Keith.

After I finished, Wendy would "thoughtfully" let me go back to sleep.

I thought she really cared about me.

Later I learned that she did it to get rid of me and have breakfast alone with Keith.

She deliberately said at the dining table, "Georgia can sleep indeed. She ignored me when I asked her to get up for breakfast. It's a pity that I made such good food."

After I got up, I could only eat their leftovers.

It was so ironic. They said that home was wherever one's family was.

But the first time I felt at home in this house was when they were gone.

In this home, I wasn't the free Georgia Burns. I was Keith's thoughtful wife and Wendy's obedient daughter-in-law.

I lay on the soft sofa and watched the projection all day.

After living a hard life for so long, I felt so happy when I did such a small thing.

I kept watching until I got hungry in the evening, and went downstairs to an upscale restaurant to enjoy a meal.

In fact, this restaurant had been open for a long time. I wanted to come and eat when it opened, but I was always stopped because Wendy thought it was expensive.

After eating to my heart's content and returning home, I realized that life could be so beautiful.

Unfortunately, my happy days only lasted for a few days. Then someone intruded.

Chapter 4

While taking a walk in the neighborhood, I unexpectedly saw Wendy talking to the neighbors.

I quietly walked to them and heard her sigh.

"It was so cold at night, so I complained a bit, yet Georgia actually told me to go sleep with a dog.

"Keith spoke up for me, and we got kicked out in the middle of the night."

The neighbors were indignant.

"Georgia is so selfish!"

"She occupies the big house and throws you all into the old shabby one. Doesn't she have a conscience at all?"

Upon hearing this, Wendy looked hesitant.

"Someone told me before that they saw Georgia being intimate with a man at night...

"It can't be true... Can it?"

Hearing that, those people were gossipy. Everyone gathered together and whispered.

"Did she kick you out so that she could be with that man without you disturbing them?"

"Georgia cheated on Keith and mistreated you. She should be punished!"

They made it sound like I indeed had an affair.

I didn't expect Wendy to be so malicious, and I walked toward them with a cold face.

"Those who spread rumors about their daughter-in-law having an affair should also be punished. Don't you think?

"Who said I was having an affair? Tell him or her to be here to confront me!"

Wendy was startled and said, feeling guilty.

"Georgia, don't be mad. If you don't want to see me, I'll leave right away..."

She started to play the victim again!

She started the whole thing, but once she cried, it became my fault.

Our neighbor, Harvey Blake, chimed in.

"We didn't mean anything. Don't make a big deal out of it."

I said to him with a smile.

"Harvey, what were you doing with Hazel in the hotel last time?"

Hazel Wolfe was also one of our neighbors. Harvey's face turned red, and he pointed at me, cursing me, saying that I was full of shit!

"I didn't mean anything. Don't make a big deal out of it, Harvey."

I repeated what he said. His expression changed a few times, and he didn't say another word.

See? Villains ought to be punished.

Wendy stopped talking and left in a hurry.

I stared at her back and noticed that she kept looking back as she walked, as if afraid of being seen.

I followed her when she wasn't looking and saw a man riding a bike to pick her up, and he affectionately touched her belly.

I guessed he was the father of her child.

I followed all the way to Wendy's old and shabby house.

I asked the neighbors, and they all said that the man was a gambler, addicted to gambling when he was young, and now he was penniless.

Why not take advantage of such a man with such a character?
