Chapter 2
MIRACLE'S POV
Leaving my house, I rush to get to the cafe I work at. I am supposed to be in my high school, but I dropped out when I was kicked out of the pack.
It's hard living on your own and bearing all expenses. Besides, I need to pay Miranda some huge money to get a potion - a potion which helps concealing my aura.
As I am now a rogue without any pack, some werewolves might come to hunt me one day. They will come to hunt me and they will kill me. They won't care if I am a good rogue or a bad rogue, they are going to kill me.
The fact that I lived in the Red Moon Pack's territory never made it much easier. I have to be more careful. It's the pack which is being run by the Alpha King himself currently.
He is known to be ruthless, cruel, dangerous, deadly and so powerful that his presence can cause some werewolves to feel severe headaches.
The headaches mostly happen when he is trying to instill the fear of his power in other werewolves. His projection of powerful aura can kill a werewolf if he intends to kill.
He hurts when he wants to hurt.
The Red Moon pack has the most members out of all werewolf packs in the world. A number of 1000. A whole town.
And it is known that ninety percent of them are fierce warriors, trained to kill mercilessly.
And ofcourse, he hates Rogues, Vampires and all other creatures. He hates other packs too but as he is the king of the werewolf council, no one can object in front of him and he has to bear with those other packs to maintain peace throughout the community.
The thought of ever seeing him, makes me shiver some times but I don't have to worry.
Miranda - the witch I know gives me a potion that keeps my already weak aura concealed from all werewolves and other creatures.
But she takes a hefty amount in return for only the potion for ten days.
That's the reason I have to work, work and work to keep myself alive, just until I find my mate.
I could go to the rogues if I wanted but the thing is...
Even the rogues don't want a pesky werewolf without any wolf. I am no use to anyone, but I am an easy target and werewolves are going to love tearing me limb to limb, so they can get rid of someone who is spoiling their reputation among other creatures.
And I live in Red Moon's territory because I only have to protect myself from the members of Red Moon pack here. No other pack wolf or creature ever comes here.
It's easy Peasy.
But only until I get caught some day. The pack members of Red Moon pack are going to skin me alive and then they are going to make a door mat out of me if they catch me - a useless rogue without a wolf.
...Barbaric much, but that's how they are.
And how I know about all of this? It's because of something funny.
I work at Red Moon Cafe. The place is owned by the mate of Red Moon's Beta.
She is good but only to me, because she thinks of me as a human.
I got a job here because many werewolves come here every day. It will be easy to find my mate once I turn eighteen if I stay close to werewolf community somehow.
And also, staying so close to them never makes them suspicious. They never keep an eye on me because they see me every single day.
They also talk about stuff - the werewolf stuff. They talk about it among themselves sitting at the far corner of the cafe.
They measure the distance so small because they think of me as human and they doubt I will be able to hear their hushed secret talks from so far away.
But I can hear them clearly. I can hear them so well that it's sometimes hard to not shiver hearing their brutal talks.
Skin him alive. Rip him from limb to limb. The Alpha King killed him today. He ripped the head off a rogue. He killed two pack members for disobeying him in the same week. He changed girls again. He decided to raid a pack and killed every single member there. He did this, he did that, now he is going to do this...Blah Blah.
...They often talk about such things. Disgusting things.
And they also discuss about a girl Alpha King is searching for...His mate to be precise. He wants revenge on that girl. For what? They never say because even they don't know.
They just know that their Luna is already decided upon.
She is Olivia. I have seen her around. She is a girl with long black hair, green fierce eyes and perfect face with a body everyone wanted.
She is going to be the Luna and Alpha King's mate is going to be killed once she is found.
That's brutal.
Why does Alpha King wants to kill his mate when he can just mark Olivia and reject his mate once he comes across her? I don't understand it.
If he kills his mate, it will weaken him and he will not be the strong wolf he is right now.
Most of the times, I feel bad for the girl who is his mate. She will suffer alot and then she will die on the hands of her own mate.
This death will be more heartbreaking than anything I have ever witnessed in the werewolf world.
I hope Alpha King never finds her and eventually marks Olivia as his Luna. A win-win situation for everyone.
Shaking my head, I make my way inside the cafe to find Olivia and Selvia sitting on the far right corner of the cafe.
Selvia is the owner. The Beta's mate. Olivia and Selvia are good friends, but their personalities are completely different.
Selvia is soft spoken and easy going, while Olivia is arrogant and headstrong.
If I was Olivia, I too might be so arrogant considering the fact that the Alpha King chose her over his destined mate.
What about Olivia's mate then? I wonder.
Olivia doesn't want her mate either?
What's so special about Alpha King which makes her want to give up her mate?
Power. Unimaginable power. The answer was clear.
“ Hey Miracle! ” Selvia shouts from her spot and my lips curl up to form a smile.
I don't know why I always think about them so much. They can do whatever they want. It's not like my life is ever going to be entangled with their's.
I am going to find my mate and then he will take me away from here. We will find all answers and we will be happy.
We will get rid of this stupid curse somehow if I am really cursed.
“ Good Morning Selvia! ” I greet her with a smile. She insists I call her Selvia even if she is my boss and older than me. She is twenty two.
The excitement was back. I am turning eighteen tonight at twelve and I know I will find him soon. I have this hunch that I will find him sooner than I hope.
Call it my mate instinct but I can feel his presence near me.
“ You are early hun! ” She reminds me as my eyes move to the clock.
I am really early. My shift starts in one hour.
“ I should grab breakfast then. ” I joke turning my eyes back to Selvia who is still smiling at me.
Oh...I like this woman but I won't like her once she knows I am a rogue. She won't like me either.
I can imagine Olivia holding me down by my shoulders as Selvia rips my head off my shoulders slowly and painfully. Shivers run down my spine once again thinking about this.
“ Are you cold? ” Olivia sneers, her eyes screaming at me that she hates how weak humans are.
“ Yes. It's too cold today. ” Rubbing my hands, I lie without any hesitation.
Lies and secrets help me stay alive. I don't like it but what choice do I have? I like my head very much and I love my limbs intact.
Snapping out of my thoughts, I focus on Olivia and find her already staring at me. There is something in her eyes. I don't know what but it makes me uncomfortable.
“ Go grab some breakfast in the kitchen Miracle. I will see you later. ” Selvia orders me after noticing how uncomfortable I am getting with Olivia's deadly stares.
“ Thanks Selvia. ” I nod and turn around to escape from here.
As I stroll towards the kitchen, I hear Selvia saying to Olivia. “ Stop it Olivia. She is just a human. You scare her with these creepy stares. ”
“ I am telling you there is something off about this girl. I tried to compel her just now but it didn't work. ” Olivia hisses at Selvia and my eyes go saucer wide.
Shit!
I forgot to mention that Olivia is a hybrid right?
Her father is a vampire - the strongest out there and her mother is a werewolf.
I never thought she will try to compel me. Shit! I fucked up.
“ You couldn't compel her? ” There is surprise clear in Selvia's voice as she asks Olivia.
I can imagine their expressions right now and this is making me dizzy.
“ Maybe she just has a strong grip on her mind. You know it's also possible. ” Selvia suggests in a low tone.
A sighs escapes my lips at her explanation. Thank Moon Goddess. Atleast Selvia is not buying whatever Olivia is trying to imply.
“ A strong mindset? Seriously? Her heart is still beating faster than usual. It's picking speed just as I talk to you. It's like she is hearing what we are talking about. ” Olivia sneers and I curse at myself.
Shit! I fucked up for the second time.
How am I supposed to make my heart beat slow down when I am shit scared?!
Placing my hand over the kitchen sink's sides, I hear them talking further.
“ What are you implying? ” Selvia inquires, her tone changing. She is taking Olivia serious now.
“ I think she is a rogue hiding her scent with some witch's potion. ” Olivia declares and I end up grinning.
Like seriously? She had to come up to this conclusion today?
I worked in this cafe for a whole year but Olivia never suspected anything. No werewolf did.
Even the Beta of Red Moon pack - Xavier never suspected me but now this Hybrid girl has started suspecting me.
Olivia is sure smart but her brain began working at the very wrong time.
Or perhaps, my curse is working up again. I am supposed to be always in despair.
Happiness. Peace. Love. Harmony.
All these are not for me as the oracle has stated when she came to our pack.
“ Let's test your stupid theory then. ” Selvia groans out, irritation clear in her voice.
Maybe, she is sure that I am not a werewolf or maybe she too is suspecting me and wants to know if I am really a werewolf.
My ears perk up as I wonder what they are going to do to me to know if I am a werewolf or not.
“ But How? Suggest something. ” Selvia sighs, not knowing how to do it.
But the words Olivia utters next make me want to run away from here.
“ Let's give her some wolfsbane. ”
Chapter 3
MIRACLE'S POV
As I sit on the chair opposite Olivia with her eyes fixed at me, I know what I am going to do.
Earlier, Selvia came to call me out and she asked me to have coffee with Olivia and her.
Regretfully, I agreed. I had to.
If I had ran away, Olivia and Selvia were going to be sure that I am a werewolf and before I knew it, all the members of the Red Moon pack would have been hot on my tail, to find me and then kill me.
I can't even take on Selvia, let alone a whole pack of Merciless killers.
That's why even after knowing what's going to happen, I still stayed. I have to stay to get rid of their doubts.
But, all of this doesn't help in easing my anxiety.
No werewolf ever wanted to be anywhere near wolfsbane. And drinking it? That is gruesome.
It will cause me a burn so strong that I will be twisting in pain in the blink of an eye. I will feel my own organs burning inside me and it will be.....Plain Horrible.
“ You creep me out. ” I blurt out to Olivia nervously, trying to provide her with a reason for the fast beating of my heart.
I know her suspiscions are strong. The moment I show a reaction after drinking the Wolfsbane, she is going to snap my neck. She is waiting for this to happen anyway.
“ I know. ” Olivia grins wolfishly, making me flinch.
She seems quite ready to snap my neck to be honest.
I wish I was not here in this moment. Sighing, I hear Selvia's footsteps but keep my expressions neutral.
She is coming. She is coming with the wolfsbane.
“ Here is your coffee. ” Selvia places the coffee mug on the table in front of me before placing Olivia's mug in front of her.
Now, the one pair of eyes has turned into two pair of eyes. Those two are watching me closely.
Their ears are picking up my heartbeat and their noses are picking up the smell of fear in the air. I am acting like a next level fool.
“ Thanks Selvia. ” I mutter quietly, my eyes fixed at the hot steam rising from the cup of coffee in front of me. I can easily smell wolfsbane and even from so far away, it makes my guts twist uncomfortably.
“ Drink up before it gets cold. You humans need warmth. ” Olivia's bitter voice grabs my attention.
Lifting my head, I stare at her, unblinking.
“ You HUMANS? What are you then? A werewolf? ” I joke, which makes them both stiffen up visibly.
If I am going to die soon, I might as well die after mocking them.
...Childish much, but that's how I am.
Whenever something serious happens, my mind makes me think about funny things.
Slowly, the wolfish grin returns on Olivia's lips. She leans in and I lean back instinctively, even if there is a table separating us.
“ I am a Vampire and a werewolf. ” Instead of being scared, she lets out the truth, laughing at me.
I end up bursting out in laughter, just like her. She is good at this, I must say.
“ You have a good sense of humor. ” Selvia interferes and I know, it's time to stop playing around.
Shaking my head, I pick up the coffee mug. Olivia and Selvia's eyes bore into my skull. I can see Selvia's fingers holding onto the table's corners, ready to dug into it.
The smell of wolfsbane makes bile rise up in my throat as I take the mug near my lips.
Oh the things peopl - I mean a werewolf like me has to do for survival. Tch.
Bringing the mug to my lips, I take a big sip and instantly place the mug down after that.
Okay. My fingers are holding onto the mug tightly so I do not start thrashing. A control measure.
I can feel my tongue and mouth burning and as the Wolfsbane slowly travels down my throat, I can feel everything burning. It's a hot-searing pain that blinds me for a second there. My head pounds, my heart beat picks its speed and the burn continues.
I feel like someone is slowly ripping my soul from my body.
It's like I am laying on a bed of silver nails.
It's the worst pain I have ever experienced.
Even if my wolf is not strong, I can still feel the vicious burn, the cruel intensity of wolfsbane burning everything inside me.
Blood rise up in my mouth and I gulp it down. The metallic taste makes me nauseous once more.
“ Miracle. ” Selvia calls out to me and I lift my head to glance at her. Her forehead is adorned with a frown. Her nails are slowly starting to dig in the table. She is ready to attack, she just needs a small confirmation to do that.
“ How is the coffee? ” Olivia asks and I turn my head to give her my attention.
“ It-It's good. I have never drank coffee which tasted so good. It's like I can die peacefully after drinking it. ” I force a smile up my lips as the intensity of wolfsbane brings tears to my eyes - tears that I have to hold back in order to not end up giving myself away.
“ I am glad you like it. ” Selvia mutters, her grip loosening around the edge of the table.
If I was a werewolf, I would be writhing in pain on the floor by now - That's what they are thinking.
But guess what...I am a weak wolf. I don't feel the burn that much, because my wolf has died, but it's still alot of pain.
Their suspicions have died down for now but it has caused me pain - immense pain. I am bleeding internally and I know it, so I have to be away from them before I end up vomiting out blood.
Suddenly, the bell on the front door jingles and I inhale deeply. Xavier - The Beta of Red Moon Pack.
I know it's him after smelling his scent.
Just as he steps in, he takes a whiff of the smell in the air. I crane my neck to look at him and find him looking back at me. His eyes darken and the golden hue threatens to take over his eyes, but he pushes his wolf back to stay in control.
“ Come with me Selvia. You too Olivia. ” He lets out and I turn my head around.
Olivia is still glaring at me and I realize that she is not convinced even after this. She suspects me deeply and she doesn't like to be proven wrong.
Seliva rushes to Beta like a lost puppy and Olivia follows shortly after. Xavier takes them and then leaves, saving me from further agony.
And finally...
I get up from the chair slowly and sprint to the kitchen in a lightening speed. I run past the kitchen and out of the back door, which leads to an empty alleyway.
Stepping out, I bend over and empty my guts by vomiting blood - that's alot of blood.
The pain pushes me to drop on my knees as I try to grasp something desperately to keep myself up on my feet. My eyes water up and I sniff, shaking my head. Black dots appear in my sight and I open my eyes wide to push this haziness away.
This is not a good time to drop unconscious. Selvia and Olivia will be back and they will suspect me.
Pushing myself up on my feet, I wipe my mouth with my sleeve. They can smell blood on me too. Shit. What am I supposed to do now? I have to think quickly.
“ What are you doing there sweetheart? ” The voice coming from behind me grabs my attention and I whip my head around to find a pale looking boy standing behind me. He was wearing a black hoodie and his half face was hidden under it.
Then the scent hits me and I stumble back.
A vampire. He was a vampire and a...Wolf? A hybrid? What is he doing here?
“ I can smell wolfsbane on you. ” Smirking, he raises his head and I see his eyes which suddenly takes on a red color.
He smelled blood on me.
Sighing dramatically, I push my hair back.
I swear I don't find trouble...Trouble always finds me.
Blame it all on my curse.
“ What do you want? ” I ask, my posture stiff.
Then, it hits me. Another shit well.
Wolfsbane burned everything and I threw up everything so yeah...The effect of potion is gone now.
I did another mistake after that. I took my eyes off an enemy and before I know it, I am pinned on the wall.
His hand is on my throat as he raises me up, my black scrapping against the wall harshly.
My hands reach out to grab his hands as he pushes his hoodie down to reveal his face. His red eyes go to the remnants of blood on my lips and I smirk.
He is a newbie at this vampire thing. A werewolf turned Vampire. He is Dangerous but stupid. He does not know how to get over his hunger and he acts impulsively.
But...what is he doing in Red Moon Pack territory? And why is he not caught?
“ King wants you...But I can drink some blood before delivering you to him right? ” His eyes glaze over as his teeth elongate.
This is shit multiply by hundred this time.
Chapter 4
MIRACLE'S POV
“ King? I don't know anyone by that name. ” I mutter, before bringing up my knee and ramming it roughly against his rib, breaking two of them instantly.
Howling in pain, he doubles over and drops me on the ground. Not wasting any time, I grab his neck and twist it harshly. His body drops down on the ground, hitting it hard, his neck still twisted at a weird angle.
He is not dead. I don't need to worry about that. He just fell unconscious for a while - a day to be precise.
King? Who was he talking about? I wonder but push past him to go back in the cafe. I have caused some serious trouble.
Sighing, I stop by the door and look back at the body.
I was weak. Emphasize on that WAS. I acted weak when I had the power to defeat everyone else. I showed them mercy when I was powerful, but now...
It was merely for survival and when you are in that survival mode, you find all those weaknesses disappearing one by one but, I still don't kill any creature.
I can rip this newbie's neck off and then burn him to hide my tracks, but I choose to leave him alive and...
Running away from here.
Yes. I need to run away.
Olivia suspects me, they might smell this vampire's scent in the air soon and they are going to come. The first suspect in this is going to be me again, because my scent is all over that newbie's body now.
Shit.
Inhaling deeply, I try to think while the pain only makes me want to double over and cry out.
Running away it is for sure, by the way.
**********
Getting home as soon as I could, I open the door and rush to my room without stopping to scold Liam and Bella for doing it on the couch again. They never listen to me anyway.
“ Miracle! Is there something wrong? ” Bella's worried voice catches my attention, as she barges inside my room to find me pushing my clothes in a bag.
I need to run. That's all I can think about. I just have to cross the Red Moon Pack territory before tomorrow morning.
“ Miracle! I am talking to you. ” Bella's hand appears in my sight when it grabs my wrist to stop me.
“ Nothing. Nothing is wrong. I am just going on vacations. ” I pry her hand off and continue pushing my clothes inside the bag.
Bella stays inside the room, staring at me confusedly while I pack everything up in the bag and swing it over my shoulders.
“ Don't worry. I will be back. ” I feed her a lie and she smiles at me.
“ You never go anywhere so I was worried when you started packing. ” She sighs out and goes out to Liam who was standing outside the door.
“ She is just going on vacations. ” She tells him and he nods his head.
How wonderful...They don't know anything about me yet I know everything about them.
I stroll to them and pull both of them in a hug one by one, before bidding my goodbye, knowing I will never return. They were good friends to me. But I have to leave now and I can't bring it in myself to tell them that I will never return.
Perhaps, I will be dead by tomorrow and I will not even have to answer their calls. Who knows!
Leaving the apartment building, I go to the cave in the forest. I have already planned a way to escape in case I ever had to run and it turns out, I do ended up having to run in the end.
Sitting in the cave, waiting for the night is never easy. The fact that I am spending my eighteenth birthday here...is even worse.
Besides, Wolves are more active at night. There is the problem of Border patrol too at night, but the thing is...
Those werewolves out for the border patrol don't know me and as I have now taken the potion again, they will think of me as a mere human.
That's why I am running away in the night. It will prevent any stumbling upon the people I knew.
When the night comes, I sling the bag over my shoulders and step out of the cave to inhale the fresh forest smell. It's heavenly. I have always loved forests.
My eyes go to the full moon in the sky and I sigh out. “ Help me Moon Goddess. Don't let me die before meeting him. ”
I don't want to die before ever meeting and knowing my mate.
Determined, I make my way inside the forest carefully. When I get close to the border, I heave a heavy breath. I am close to freedom.
As I breath in relief and try not to think about the pain in my organs, I see a silhouette in the distance - A huge outline of a man.
My eyes narrow down to see him clearly, but my vision blurs out. The effects of wolfsbane. I am weak right now.
Shaking my head, I continue on my way. I just have to cross their border and I will be fine.
When I take a whiff, I realize he is a werewolf. My body freezes and I stop on my spot.
Shit.
His scent is not familiar though. It's sweet. He smells like the forest specially rosewood. Intoxicating. His scent intoxicates me and I start walking to him without even realizing.
The closer I get to him, the faster my heart beats. My palms start sweating profusely.
Who is he? I want to know. I NEED to know.
There is like a thread pulling me to him. My body acts on it's own and I feel strangely excited.
What's happening to me?
Before I realize, I am standing in front of him. He is huge. I only come up to his neck.
His broad shoulders are illuminated by the moonlight and his gray sweatshirt is doing nothing to hide his strong build.
Tracing his body, my eyes land on his face. He has a chiseled jaw, his lips are plump - cherry in color, his nose is straight and his eyes - those silver gray eyes...
It's like my breath is knocked out of my lungs. All the hair on my body stand up. My heart beat slows down rhythmically.
Something pulls me to him again and I stumble forward, feeling the tingles rising on my body. The feeling makes me feel like I am drunk.
“ Mate. ” The whisper spills out of my mouth, before I could even register it in my mind.
And then...
I hear another female voice in my head.
“ RUN! ”
