Chapter 1

After sending my daughter, Linda, to school, I went home to get files for a meeting.

My sister-in-law, Larissa, spoke through the door.

"Kellan, I didn't lie to you. My best friend is a beautiful, kind-hearted, and rich woman. She likes you wholeheartedly. Isn't she better than that ugly-looking Natalya Patton?"

My mother-in-law, Emery chimed in from the side, saying, "I didn't agree to their marriage in the first place, but you insisted on marrying her! In my opinion, you should divorce her!"

I stood at the door, trembling all over. I was hoping that my husband, Kellan, would speak up for me.

Unexpectedly, he spoke in disdain.

"I've long wanted to divorce her, but we two have saved over 200 thousand dollars over the years. How about we figure out a way to kick her out and leave her with nothing?"

I divorced him in anger, and they happily welcomed a new life.

But I didn't expect that the so-called rich woman and Larissa's best friend was a scammer.

He fell into a romance trap!

---

I stood at the door. Hearing their conspiracy, I was heartbroken.

My hand holding the keys kept trembling. Despite standing on land, I felt like I was suffocating from being submerged in water.

For seven years of our marriage, I always thought my family was a happy one.

Kellan was handsome and considerate. Linda was well-behaved and cute. Emery and Larissa were somewhat nosy.

But no family in the world was perfect.

"If it weren't for the fact that I had been in a hurry to send Linda off and left the company documents at home today…”

"I wouldn't have known that the perfect family in my eyes was so dirty and filthy behind the scenes!"

I calmed myself down at the door and fumblingly opened the door.

Seeing me coming back, they were startled. Larissa even patted her chest and scolded me with a frown.

"Are you not a human? Can't you make any noise when you come home?"

Kellan subconsciously stopped her and said, "How can you talk to your sister-in-law like this?"

He laughed nervously and asked me, "Didn't you go to work? Why are you back now?"

I changed my shoes at the door and glanced at them. Emery sneered, saying, "She must have taken a day off. She only earns a little money and often takes leave. This family relies on my son to support it. What's the use of having a wife like you?"

I threw the keys on the shoe cabinet and retorted, "What about your useful son? Why didn't he go to the company?"

I looked at my husband, Kellan, and said, "I asked you to get up early and send Linda to school. You told me you had to leave early, saying that you were busy in the company. Why are you still at home now?"

He dressed up well today, wearing a suit and tie and putting wax on his hair. It was evident that he had deliberately gone out to dress himself up.

He became even more nervous at my words.

Larissa interjected, saying, "My friend is coming today. We must entertain a guest at home!"

I looked at Kellan and sarcastically thought, "Oh, welcoming guests at home? Those who don't know the details will think he wants to present himself to someone!"

I smiled sarcastically and said to Kellan, "Oh, we have guests at home. Why didn't you tell me?"

He frowned subconsciously, saying, "It's Larissa's friend. You don't need to worry about it."

I asked, "Then what does it have to do with you?"

Kellan was choked, wondering what to say. Emery couldn't stand it anymore, saying, "He is your husband, not a criminal. Who are you questioning him with every word?"

Chapter 2

Usually, I thought of her as an elder and let her have her way, but I wouldn't do so anymore.

I snorted and said, "Of course, he's not a criminal. Which criminal would dress up so flamboyantly when his wife and child are not at home? I'm just curious. Who is this precious guest? A male or female?"

Now, Emery had nothing to say. She mumbled. Seeing so, Kellan quickly changed the subject and said, "Oh, it's just Larissa's ordinary friend. Why did you suddenly come back home? It's not time to get off work yet, right?"

As he said that, he was about to get the car keys. He said, "It is so slow to take the subway at this time. Shall I drive you to the company?"

I directly brushed away his hands, saying, "No need, I was fired. I plan to rest at home for a few months."

When I said this, I sat directly on the sofa. I said, "It just so happens that we have guests at home today, I will join you in entertaining them later."

Originally, I was here to get some documents, but now I planned to resign.

"I came here from far away for love, but now I want to divorce this scumbag and take Linda back to my parent's house!"

Kellan widened his eyes and asked incredulously, "You were fired?"

Larissa was anxious beside me, saying, "My friend will be here. Why are you staying here?"

They spoke one after another. I looked at them disdainfully and asked, "This is my home. Why can't I stay here?"

Then I looked at Kellan and said, "Yes, I was fired. Is there a problem?"

Kellan became even angrier. He gritted his teeth, saying, "Of course, there's a problem! Our monthly mortgage loan and car loan add up to nearly 10 thousand dollars. We must pay for food and accommodation too. Do you expect me to bear all of it? You're planning to rest for a few months, but can our family still survive?"

"You know that our family won't be able to make it if you rest for a few months, right?"

I retorted, saying, "Kellan, do you remember that you had been staying at home for a whole year two years ago? How come you could make it when the burden was on me, but you can't make it when it's on you? Are you a man or not?"

Chapter 3

Upon hearing my words, Emery couldn't stand it anymore. She pointed at me, scolding and saying, "How dare you despise my son? Natalya, don't forget. It was you who begged and insisted on marrying my son back then! If it weren't for you shamelessly throwing yourself at him, would the Hill family want a daughter-in-law like you?"

She pointed at me and scolded me. Kellan said, "I was not appreciated for my talents back then. Can you be in the same situation as me?"

I was so angry that I couldn't speak for a moment. Trembling all over, I asked him, "What's different about me? Kellan, we were college classmates for four years. If I were a failure, who were you? Besides, who was the one who had pestered me relentlessly in the first place?"

We were college classmates for four years. Kellan had been chasing after me for a full two years.

I didn't want to be with him at first. As the only daughter in my family, I didn't want to marry someone from far away. But Kellan's sincerity moved me.

After we were together, he was considerate in every way, treating me extremely well. In the end, I WAS sure that he was the person I wanted to spend my life with for all my lifetime.

I married him from afar. My family gave me a dowry of over 100 thousand dollars. His family didn't give me a penny of dowry. My family thought it would be enough if I was happy. They never made things difficult for Kellan's family.

"It turns out that I am shameless and clingy in their eyes!"

I pointed at Kellan and asked Emery, "I'm clingy. What about your family? Your son is just a freeloader as well as a useless kept man. Is that honorable?"

Kellan immediately became angry. He came over to grab my hand, saying, "Natalya Patton, can't you speak properly?"

I had long been expecting him to do so. I slapped his hand away, saying, "I may not speak properly, but I am better than you, who don't know how to be a decent person!"
