Chapter 1

The first time to abandon me

Dad made a lot of money doing business outside, and the money in his bank account was increasing, and he felt more and more dissatisfied with his wife.

He let those mistresses to call my mother and send her inexplicable photos. He wanted my mother to give up and leave with nothing.

But mom had a backbone. She followed him through the storm. She insisted on being with him despite defying her parents. Now he wanted to get rid of her? Dream on!

But Dad didn't just daydream, he also did disgusting things.

He started to bring the women from outside home.

When mom comes home from work, strange sounds came from the bedroom. My mom pushes the door and sees dad and the mistress. Dad just stood there holding his arm and watching.

The mistress was at a disadvantage, but he still favored her. Mom's face was bruised and swollen from being scratched.

My mom insisted on not getting divorced, with the attitude of "If I can't live well, I won't let you live well'. Mom had fought with dad's mistresses for so many times.

But it was useless. When a man changed his heart, even if you became as strong as steel, his heart wouldn't turn back a bit.

Until that day, my parents erupted into a world war again. I, a little child, held onto my father's leg and shouted, "Don't hit Mommy, don't hit Mommy."

My father kicked me out with one foot. I hit the wall and bounced onto the corner of the table, immediately bleeding a lot.

My mother was disheartened and agreed to divorce. The condition was that my father would leave with nothing, and both me and the property would belong to her.

She was confident that my father would agree, because my father's factory was thriving. The property was just a drop in the bucket, and my father probably didn't want me as a burden.

She did not know that my father always had despicable and disgusting behavior beyond the normal bottom line. He let my mother choose for herself: either she would leave with nothing and I would belong to my mother, or she would take the property and I would be given to him.

When my mother left with the property, my father was dumbfounded.

He took me to play mahjong and cursed my mother at the mahjong table, saying, "That heartless woman! She chose the property over the child without any hesitation."

People around laughed and said that my father's wishful thinking didn't work out.

The next day, my father sent me to my grandfather's house in the countryside.

My grandmother passed away, and my grandfather, a man, couldn't take care of me himself.

He loved to eat chili peppers, so he put chili peppers in every dish. I said I couldn't have it, but he laughed and said, "A man should be able to handle spicy food. The more you eat, the more you get used to it."

I would cry when the food was too spicy, and my grandpa always said I was a jinx.

I dared not cry either. If I cried, my grandpa would hit me with his bamboo stick. He said that jade needs to be polished to become valuable. My dad was hit by him a lot when he was young, so he was successful now.

I didn't know if my dad was successful or not, but I was really scared of my grandpa's way of educating me.

I was allergic to mangoes. The first time I ate them, my whole body was covered in rashes. My grandpa took me to the clinic.

They told him that I couldn't eat mangoes, otherwise there would be serious consequences.

My grandpa didn't care and said, "What allergy? Stop being so sensitive."

He started giving me mangoes every day. Seeing me break out in rashes every day, he thought it was not enough training. So one day, he peeled a plate of mangoes for me to eat.

I was sent to the intensive care unit that day. When I woke up, my mom was sitting by the bed with swollen eyes.

Chapter 2

I became my mom's child again.

Dad blackmailed Mom into signing an agreement that he would no longer pay a penny of child support before he agreed to give custody of me to Mom.

Mom signed it.

Since then, I no longer had to eat spicy food that made my nose runny, and I didn't have to have red rashes all over my body every day.

Because of me, my mom had to quit her job at the textile factory. She couldn't take care of me and work at the same time, but life had to go on.

Mom rented a storefront and bought machines with all the property she got from the divorce. She started a cotton business.

Every morning, she would cook me a good meal and then take me to school. The rest of the time, she would be busy in the cotton room.

Picking cotton was a dirty job. Many times, Mom would have cotton fibers all over her body and even on her eyelashes.

When my mom came to pick me up at the school gate wearing an apron, I would walk away from her until all my classmates have dispersed, and then I would go over.

Other moms looked glamorous, but my mom looked tired and dirty. I was afraid my classmates would laugh at me.

At first, my mom just complained about how slow I was. But one day, she saw me lingering at the school gate and she grabbed my ear and pulled me back, saying, "I have so much work to do in the shop. What are you doing here?"

I covered my pulled ear and shouted in protest: "I just came out, I was not dawdling, okay? Mom, couldn't you tidy up a bit before picking me up? Look at other moms, and then look at you."

When I was young, I didn't understand anything. I only followed my most primitive instinct to criticize and despise her. When she heard me say that, she picked up a wooden stick from the ground and hit my butt.

"So you think I lost your face, huh? I found out. All of you in your dad's family are bad seeds, rotten to the core. If it weren't for you, I would have had a steady job at the textile factory and wouldn't have suffered so much."

Back then, I was young and only knew how to poke at her weaknesses: "It's all because you're incapable. If you could earn half as much money as my dad, I wouldn't have to suffer with you."

Her increasingly plump body trembled violently as she dragged me towards the train station: "Go, go find your heartless father now. If you think he's so good, go live with him."

Feeling wronged, I sat on the back of her bicycle, silently vowing to tell my dad in the future that my mom was a shrew, always scolding people, and always dirty.

But I was still young, and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find my dad. So I could only endure and bear the burden under the control of my mother.

Chapter 3

No one in my grandma's family liked me. My uncle had asked my mom countless times to send me back. One time, I overheard a conversation between my uncle and my mom.

My uncle, who was tall and had a tough demeanor, said to my mom, "You quit such a good job and moved back home, and you are still afraid that little brat won't be comfortable? You are wasting your time here!"

My mom's hair was fluffy, and there were still bits of cotton debris on her eyelashes that hadn't been cleaned up: "Nathan is a proud and tough child. If I move back, he will be living in others' home. You and our mom don't like him because of his dad, not to mention causing trouble for your wife. This way is better. I will raise the two of us with my own hands."

Uncle sighed, gave mom a big red envelope and walked away. Seeing me eavesdropping outside, Uncle gave me a disdainful look.

I made a face at his back. Since I was little, I knew he was not a good person. Mom had taken back my custody, but he still wanted my mom to send me away.

Well, I'm still young now. When I grow up a little more, I'll leave on my own without you telling me.

Mom didn't let me idle either. On days when I didn't go to school, she gave me a pair of big scissors and let me sit under the sun to cut open the old quilts that people wanted to use.

The quilts were thick and heavy. Some people's quilt cores were even black and smelly. Mom asked me to cut the cotton into strips so that they could be easily put into the machine.

My hands were small and I didn't know how to use force. The skin on my tiger's mouth would often be worn out. At this time, mom would coldly throw me a band-aid and say coldly, "This is the consequence of forgetting to wear gloves."

She had always been cold and sarcastic to me. She despised me for being a child of my dad's family. She said I looked like my dad and that I would grow up to become a heartless and unfaithful man.

I was not weak either. I said she was as fat as a pig and that it was the right choice for my dad to leave her.

At that time, our lives were too bitter and too tiring. We always took the closest people around us as punching bags.

When she asked me to cut open three more quilts, I exploded and asked, "Why can my classmates go to the basketball court? Why does everyone have the latest camera, but I'm already in my second year of high school and have nothing? Every day after school, I have to stay at home and do these dirty and meaningless chores with you."

She put the cotton seeds into the bag while wiping the sweat off her forehead: "Because you have a tough life."

She looked indifferent, her hands never stopped putting the cotton seeds into the bag, glanced at me: "You can't go anywhere today. The three quilts will be picked up in the afternoon, and the cotton seeds collector will come in the evening. If we don't finish these, we won't even have dinner."

The more I looked at her cold expression, the more uncomfortable I felt in my heart, "You don't love me, you're not good to me, why do you want me?"

"My father's family lives in a mansion and drives luxury cars. If it weren't for you, I would be a pampered young master. Why do I have to suffer with you?"

My mom, who was busy putting the cotton seeds, walked towards me with trembling lips, unbelievably. As she walked away, the bag of cotton seeds that had just been filled but not tied up fell over, and the cotton seeds inside scattered like the words I couldn't take back.

My mom didn't look at those cotton seeds again, she walked up to me: "You want to be the young master of your dad's family, right?"

I raised my head high and said defiantly: "My dad's new wife is gentle and slim, she dresses beautifully every day. My mom should be like that, not like you, who is so mean, fat, and always makes me suffer."

My mom raised her hand, and I thought I was going to get beaten as usual, but this time my mom put her hand down and smiled.

Her bitter face showed a strange smile: "So you want to be that woman's child?"

I stood up and shouted boldly: "Yes, yes, yes! I've had enough of you, you always treating me like I owe you a million dollars. I'm going to my dad's house, and I'm going to tell him how lucky he is to have left you."

She didn't say anything, gave me an address, a phone number, and 500 dollars, and gently touched my head, saying, "Go, go find your dad."

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the stack of money. "You really let me go find my dad?"

The second abandonment

She nodded and smiled, telling me to call her when I arrived so that she knew I was safe.
