Chapter 2
The memory lane brought me to the moment I met my husband, Jeremy. I could still remember everything very well. The moment when my pack, the Emerald Sky Pack, was suddenly attacked by the rogues. My parents, Alpha Thomas Cordon and Luna Lilianne Cordon, were brutally murdered in the sudden attack.
Sadly, the same unfortunate thing happened to the rest of the pack members. I was the only survivor from my pack. My wolf, Lucia, helped me to kill the last of the rogues, including the leader.
Unfortunately, my poor wolf became very weak to the point where I couldn’t even awaken her for months. Eventually, I spent a couple of months living quietly within the remnants of my pack. It was heartbreaking to see what was supposed to be a fertile land filled with happiness turned out to be the most harrowing thing that made the other packs refuse to come here.
Just when I thought that I had lost the meaning of life, Jeremy came into my life. I still remembered the exact moment when my blue eyes met his steely grey gaze for the first time as I warily asked him, “Who are you?”
“I’m Jeremy Black, the Alpha of the Black Ebony Pack. And you?” he calmly asked.
“I’m Adrianne Cordon from the Emerald Sky Pack. I’m the daughter of the late Alpha Thomas Cordon and Luna Lilianne Cordon,” I answered weakly, but I still stayed vigilant as I didn’t know the man before me very well.
“So, were the other packs not helping?” he asked me again.
“Well, I’m the only survivor. That should say something, right?” I responded to him as I kept looking at him while I was holding the silver dagger tightly.
After that, the Alpha chuckled. The black-haired man slightly grinned as he approached me. His hands stroked my face gently, making me meet his gaze again.
“You’ve made a strong impression on me, Adrianne. No one dares to hold a silver dagger on my presence. Yet, you dare to do that. I like you. Let me help you,” he said as his gaze looked at me intensely.
“Can I really trust you?” I questioned the man.
He chuckled as he replied to my question, “That’s up to you.”
That was when I realized how I fell head over heels for this man. I hated to admit it, but there was a time in my life that I saw Jeremy as my savior. The Alpha rescued me when I was about to end my life.
For a while, he was my knight in shining armor. I made a stupid move by agreeing to marry him the moment he asked for my hand. Yet, it was a warm moment that I would hold dearly in my heart. I still remembered the moment the Moon Priestess married me to the Alpha when the man brought me to the Ebony Pack to live with me.
“Do you, Jeremy Black of the Black Ebony Pack, agree to be the mate of Adrianne Cordon of the Emerald Sky Pack?” the Moon Priestess asked Jeremy.
“I do,” he said as he stared at me with gentleness I never knew he had in him.
Then, the Moon Priestess looked at me and asked, “And do you, Adrianne Cordon of the Emerald Sky Pack, agree to be the mate of Jeremy Black of the Black Ebony Pack?”
“I do,” I told the Moon Priestess.
Everything felt as if I was on top of the world. It was not until Olivia came into the picture. She managed to get my husband hooked. The moment I found out that I was pregnant was the moment I found out Jeremy had an affair with Olivia. I could still recall how heartbroken I was when I found out about it.
However, I managed to stay because I was pregnant with Marianne. Besides, I had nowhere else to go. Whether I liked it or not, the Black Ebony Pack had become my home even though the nobles never considered me as their Luna because I was an outsider. Instead, they were encouraging my husband to spend more time with Olivia, whom they considered as part of our pack.
There were countless nights that I spent weeping when Jeremy said that he would stay with his mistress. Every time I confronted him, the Alpha would get mad at me.
“You were fucking useless bitch! See? You’re nothing but a burden! Don’t you ever block me from meeting my one true love!” he shouted at me as he left me again for his mistress.
'How dare he! He preferred to stay with that bitch over his own child!' Lucia, my wolf, cursed my husband angrily.
In fact, my wolf got so mad that I shifted into my wolf form when I was giving birth to Marianne. No werewolves were supposed to shift into their wolf form when they were giving birth as it would harm the baby. I caused my poor Marianne to be a weak one. It was a very grave mistake that made me cry nights and nights because I was the cause of it.
As I held my beautiful daughter, whom I named after my grandmother, I cried while I gently whispered to her tiny ears, “I’m sorry, my baby. It was my fault for making you weak.”
After I gave birth to my weak daughter, Jeremy visited me even less. To him, I was nothing but a failure because I only gave birth to a daughter instead of a son who would be able to inherit the pack. While Olivia was being showered with attention non-stop from my husband, the man ignored me as if Marianne and I never existed.
However, Jeremy started to show attention to his daughter as the elders from his council pitied me and our daughter. It all happened when we were having a banquet with the elders, discussing about a possible alliance with the White Fangs Pack.
“I must go to Olivia. She misses me,” he said as he brushed me off coldly.
“You should go then if you want to risk losing an alliance with the White Fangs Pack,” I told him, speaking for the first time since I discovered his affairs with Olivia.
“How dare you talk back like that!” he shouted at me.
But he stopped before he could take things further as the elders watched him with their hawk eyes as if they were trying to warn him. Even though my husband was the Alpha, he still had to respect the elders who helped him bring the Black Ebony Pack to greater glory. So, the man eventually began controlling his behavior around me and paid more attention to Marianne.
It was the very one thing that I could take pride in. I was still the pack’s Luna even if it was on paper only. Olivia might own Jeremy’s heart, but she had no voice. Furthermore, I gave good advice that helped the pack to expand. Hence, the elders favored me slightly.
Frankly, I didn’t really care about the elders. They definitely just wanted to use my daughter as a pawn while pretending to be honorable. Still, I was thankful because the elders advised my estranged husband to create a political marriage for Marianne to save her. At the very least, they still cared enough about my daughter.
In the end, it didn’t matter. My dear Marianne still died. She would no longer come back into this world. At the end of the day, I still lost someone who helped me survive this cruel life.
My hatred toward Jeremy, Olivia, and those nobles became so intense that my wolf couldn’t stop howling. They were all monsters that would pay the price no matter what, especially Jeremy. I already made up my mind to one goal. I wanted that man to suffer as badly as me.
Jeremy didn’t deserve to live happily with his mistress just like that. In fact, he wasn’t even worthy of being called a father, much less of a husband. He was truly a monster. My desire to see him suffer in agony became stronger even more every minute. Even though severing a mate bond was known to be extremely painful, I wouldn’t mind going through it.
There was no love left for Jeremy. It was nothing but revenge. The Alpha and his mistress brought me to an endless misery. From then on, my time for revenge started.
“Just wait for your death, Jeremy, Olivia!” I muttered to the black sky.
Chapter 3
It had been three days since my daughter’s death. The maids looked very worried. They commented on how much weight I had lost and asked me to eat even a spoonful of porridge.
When I asked the servants where Jeremy was, they all went quiet. I didn’t have to ask them to talk because I already knew the answer. Not that I cared about it, but I was really angered about how indifferent he was to his daughter’s death. Did he even know his daughter died?
“If the Alpha comes back from his mistress, tell that man I’m staying at my place,” I instructed the servants who quickly nodded.
I decided to go to my cottage. Not only I was trying to calm myself down, I planned to bury my daughter here. Every time I felt that it was too hard for me, I would bring Marianne to go there. She really loved this cottage. This place brought us peace.
I brought my daughter’s ashes in a pink-colored urn. That little girl loved pink and marigold flowers so much. She actually reminded me of myself. Again, tears fell on my cheeks.
'I will really miss you, Marianne,' I thought to myself.
Luckily, we had a little marigold garden in the place. I thought of picking the marigolds and spreading the ashes in the marigold garden. It would be a very good final resting place for Marianne.
Everything looked so perfect until I smelled someone who wasn’t supposed to be there. In fact, two people. Without me realizing it, I was growling angrily like a mad woman. Clearly, Lucia really wanted me to shift into my wolf form. But I managed to hold her as I looked at the intruders who dared to disturb my peace.
It was Jeremy and Olivia. People who murdered my daughter. How could they dare to enter what was supposed to be Marianne’s resting place? This was unforgivable!
“How dare you … to walk on this place?” I asked them as I gritted my teeth in anger.
Jeremy looked at me coldly as he shouted, “Watch your mouth! I’m the Alpha!”
When I heard what he said, I just laughed like a maniac. Both of those monsters looked shocked when I laughed at them. However, it seemed to irritate my estranged husband.
“It seems that your wife has lost her mind, dearest Alpha,” Olivia said in a mocking tone.
“Oh my goodness, how could I forget the beloved mistress here?” I sarcastically responded.
As soon as Olivia heard it, she was enraged. That woman angrily looked at my husband. Immediately, the mistress started her usual act, playing the victim. She started her fake cry as she began sniffling while hugging the Alpha’s arm.
“Alpha, we must punish your wife. She surely taught your daughter to steal my diamond ring because she’s jealous that all your eyes are on me, Alpha,” Olivia said as she cried her crocodile tears before me, which almost made me gag.
Yet, my husband foolishly was tricked with this kind of act. The man instantly got incensed as I mocked his mistress. How idiot this man could be to act really evil?
“You know nothing about Olivia, you fucking bitch! It’s your fault that Marianne stole Olivia’s diamond ring! Now, where is Marianne?” the Alpha angrily asked, demanding where our dead daughter was.
Even until now, Jeremy had no idea that our daughter died. For a moment, I felt that my heart stopped. I made a huge mistake by having him as my daughter’s father. This man was irredeemable.
'I’m so sorry for having this monster as your father, Marianne. I really regretted it,' I told myself as I firmly caressed the urn to my chest.
“What do you want with Marianne?” I asked him back with an icy tone.
“We should punish Marianne! I still haven’t seen where my diamond ring is! If I can’t find it, this cottage will be mine!” Olivia maliciously said as she glared daggers at me.
Frankly, I didn’t really care about what Olivia just said to me. The best thing to do was ignore that woman. Instead, I focused on what I wanted to say to my husband. I knew that I had to do it.
“I already made up my mind. I want us to sever our mating bond. You’re not worthy of being my husband and Marianne’s father. You’re nothing but a disappointment. I should’ve never married you or have you as Marianne’s father,” I continued to speak firmly as I looked at Jeremy with a fiery determination.
The Alpha seemed to be stunned. However, what shocked me was what happened next. That man looked very hurt.
'Why would he look very hurt?' I asked myself.
Unfortunately, for a second, everything went black. After that, blood started to drip on the ground. That was when I realized that Jeremy had slapped me to the point where my nose was. He slapped me so hard that the urn that I held also fell.
I couldn’t help but yell, “No! Don’t you dare!”
Olivia quickly realized that the urn was something important to me. Her eyes glimmered with evil intent. Instantly, I realized that she wanted to hurt me over this. But there was no way I couldn’t let it slide.
“What is that? A bright pink vase?” Olivia asked as she approached me.
Without thinking, I slapped that wretched woman’s hands. She immediately pretended to fall. I made a terrible mistake.
“What is wrong with you?” Jeremy shouted as his woman cried hard as if she was being killed.
Before I was able to respond, Jeremy pinned me over. I screamed as loudly as I could, but I knew it was useless. Meanwhile, Olivia grabbed the bright pink urn that fell from my hand.
“It’s interesting to see you’re overprotective about this ugly pink vase,” she commented.
After that, I could see her smirking as she shouted, “Alpha, this vase must be where the diamond ring is! I’ll break it.”
“No! Don’t you dare break that!” I shouted before my husband slapped me again, causing his mistress to laugh.
“Obey me! Don’t you struggle!” he commanded at me using his Alpha voice.
Since Jeremy used his Alpha voice on me, I was forced to obey his command. Although I was supposed to be his equal as I was supposed to be the heiress of the Emerald Sky Pack, giving birth had weakened my strength. Even if I told my body to stop reacting to his command, my body still followed Jeremy. My body ended up not resisting.
Initially, I wanted to shift into my wolf form. But I was unable to do that. Just like me, my wolf was also forced to obey his command. Poor Lucia whimpered sadly inside my head as if she wanted to tell me that she wanted to resist the command.
However, the next thing that happened really killed me. Olivia opened the urn’s lid and she broke the urn. The urn that held my daughter’s ashes. If only I could break free from the Alpha’s voice, I would have torn that bitch down.
Yet, here I was. I was being pinned down by my own husband who betrayed me. The man who killed our daughter to please his mistress.
Tears fell from my cheeks as Olivia broke the urn. My daughter’s ashes fell before it got swept by the wind. My memories of Marianne went as the wind swept my daughter away. It felt as if my heart was ripped apart.
“There’s nothing here!” Olivia yelled.
“Where’s my diamond ring? Alpha bought that ring for me!” the mistress continued to shout at me, demanding where her stupid diamond ring was.
I didn’t pay attention to any of them. To my shock, I was able to find power even though I was still bound by the Alpha’s voice. Jeremy seemed to be shocked as well because of what I did.
Without further ado, I pushed my own husband as I ran to Olivia. I quickly yanked her hair and slapped her. The woman staggered before she ran towards Jeremy again. But I paid no mind to it. My focus was on Marianne’s ashes.
I shouted as loudly as possible as I tried to catch the remnants of the ashes, “N-no! Nooooo! Noooo! Marianne! No, don’t leave me!”
Sadly, it was useless. The wind had brought my daughter’s ashes. There was none left for me. My daughter had gone forever because of them. How could I ever make peace with the fact that my daughter’s ashes were gone like this? I could never bid a proper farewell to Marianne! How could they be so cruel?
“You two are monsters!” I continued to yell as pointed at them in anger.
Responding to him, I yelled back with the same intensity, “How could you do this to your own daughter, Jeremy?”
“You two killed my daughter, Marianne! You do not deserve to live in this world! You’re nothing but monsters! You two will be dead!” I yelled again as I glared at each one of them angrily. But this was not enough to vent my anger. This bitch smashed my daughter's urn, making my daughter unable to rest in peace after death.
That bitch deserved to die!
The anger in my heart completely exploded when I saw the broken and sharp porcelain pieces!
I picked up a sharp porcelain piece and stabbed it towards Olivia's heart!
"Olivia, be careful!"
As soon as he finished speaking, a gust of wind floated past me.
Olivia was rescued by Jeremy unharmed.
However, Jeremy slapped me hard as he consoled his mistress who held her reddened face without realizing the blood from my nose and mouth after he slapped me. It made me realize the harsh truth. It would be better if I never married this man at all. He was truly a monster.
“How dare you do this, Adrianne! Olivia could’ve gotten hurt very badly because of what you did to her! That’s it! I’m done with you!” he angrily yelled at me.
After that, he coldly shouted with his Alpha voice, “Hereby, I, Jeremy Black, the Alpha of the Black Ebony Pack, sentence you, Adrianne Cordon, to go to the silver prison for attacking someone I dearly love!”
The moment I heard that, I couldn’t help but be stunned. But it didn’t last long. As the man called his warriors who came in no time. After that, he ordered his warriors to drag me to the silver prison.
Before I lost consciousness, I coldly shouted at those two monsters, “You are murderers, Jeremy, Olivia! I’ll make sure you’ll live in hell! You’ll die a thousand times more miserable than Marianne!”
Being imprisoned in the silver prison really made me lose sense of time. It felt as if the days had been blended. Jeremy and his warriors would whip me with the silver whip, demanding an apology for Olivia from me. Yet, I wouldn’t budge to them.
I had no idea how many hours or even days that passed in the silver prison. When I was about to get some sleep, I heard some footsteps. A faint scent tickled my nose. Soon enough, I gritted my teeth with anger. It was Olivia! How dare Jeremy let that bitch in the castle?
“Hello, Adrianne,” she greeted me with a fake sweetness that I was very familiar with.
The mistress had the audacity to continue to talk, “How are you feeling today?”
I glared at her with pure hatred as I yelled, “You’re just here to mock me, aren’t you? To see how I’m miserable here while you’re winning the Alpha?”
Olivia then laughed mockingly before she talked, “Oh, I’m not here for that. I just wanted to see how you’re holding up. Jeremy said you were ... um, what’s the word? Resilient. I wanted to see it for myself.”
She approached the cell. The woman stared at me maliciously as she continued, “You know, Adrianne, I’ve always admired your spirit. It’s what drew Jeremy to you in the first place. Too bad it’s all for nothing now.”
I would be lying if I didn’t admit that what she spouted really broke me. Still, I managed to control myself as I responded, “Oh, so you think you’re winning against me? Do you really believe you can replace me and Marianne?”
The wicked woman grinned as she replied, “Oh, Adrianne, you’ve been replaced! Jeremy and I have plans. I’ll replace you as Luna. People will love me more than they ever love you. You’re nothing but a disappointment for bringing a sick daughter, useless for our pack. But I’ll bring a healthy male werewolf that will be the heir of the Black Ebony Pack!”
After that, the woman took one last look at me before she left the silver prison, and said mockingly, “Enjoy your stay, Adrianne. It’s going to be a long one.”
Hearing her response really made me mad. However, I knew that I also had to get out. Otherwise, I would never be able to avenge my daughter.
Suddenly, I could hear footsteps. From the scent, I knew who that person was even before they appeared. It was Jeremy, my husband, the Alpha of the Black Ebony Pack.
“Where is Marianne?” he asked me in a demanding tone.
When I lifted my head to meet his gaze, he glared at me. I knew that he was still asking about Marianne. Thinking of it made me even more upset. How could he still not know that his daughter already died?
“Why? Do you start to care about her now? Where have you been all this time?” I asked the man back weakly, but I made sure that I was being defiant before him.
Then, I continued to speak in anger, “In the past, you never really cared about her. Why do you care about her now?”
“Tell me where she is! I want to punish that little bitch!” he yelled at me.
The moment Jeremy called Marianne a little bitch, it broke my heart. Eventually, I couldn’t hold back my tears any longer. They flowed freely down my cheeks as I whispered to him, “Marianne is gone, Jeremy. Our daughter … she’s gone.”
As soon as Jeremy heard my answer, he released me and stepped back. His face showed an extreme shock before he switched back to anger. The man slapped me harshly, causing me to whimper.
“What do you mean with gone?” he angrily asked, using his Alpha voice this time.
“She died … because of you and that fucking bitch! Did you remember that you punished Marianne to stay outside during the storm because she accused our daughter of stealing a diamond ring?”
