Chapter 1

"Stay away from me! Please, it's really dangerous!" I stood on the edge of the roof and begged the firefighters who came to rescue me.

While everyone was enjoying the New Year, I was alone.

Everything seemed meaningless.

Standing on the rooftop and trying to end my life, I suddenly noticed that someone called some firefighters.

As the crowd gathered under the building, I became increasingly reluctant to jump off, fearing I would fall on somebody.

"Tell me your problem, and we'll help you solve it! Just get away from the edge. Okay?" a firefighter approached me alone and tried to comfort me.

"Stop!" I stopped him as he came closer and closer. "If you get any closer, I'll jump!"

"Okay, okay! I'll listen to whatever you say. Calm down. I just want you to know you don't have to hurt yourself for a man on New Year's day!" said that firefighter.

A hint of self-mock surged in my heart; it seemed that the whole world had known that Ronan Wallace abandoned me.

As an actress, there was no such thing as privacy for me.

Everyone thought that I chose to end my life because of Ronan's breakup with me, but in fact, he just added fuel to the fire.

I had never thought that the man I fell for chose to be with me in order to get my kidney, so did my parents, who I trusted so much.

Technically speaking, they were Jessica Caldwell's parents. I was almost an orphan.

Everybody was lying to me!

The wound where my left kidney had just been removed hurt so much but was still not as painful as my broken heart.

"No one cares whether I live or die anymore. Everything is meaningless."

I backed away while laughing depressingly, but the firefighter moved forward as I stepped back.

He yelled, "I care about you!"

I knew he comforted me in order to accomplish his task.

He added, "There's someone who cares about you. Just look at people around, they all care about you!" he sounded so sincere.

Being stunned, I looked up at him with my eyes full of tears. For a moment, I really believed what he said.

He seemed to be only in his early twenties, the prime of life. I really couldn't bear to see him getting hurt for saving me.

After all, there was often news about firefighters getting injured or even sacrificing themselves while trying to save people. Whenever I saw firefighters sacrificing themselves while trying to save those who had no desire to live, I couldn't help but feel sorry for them. Such a cruel situation was beyond my limit of endurance, and I was very reluctant to be the person who put the firefighters' lives in danger.

He seemed overjoyed as I stopped heading to the edge of the rooftop.

I knew he was comforting me.

Looking at his hand stretched to me, I reached out to grab his hand for no reason.

Just as we walked down, I heard the firefighter breathe a sigh of relief, and I knew he was truly worried about me. Never had I expected that he would be a ray of warmth for me on my darkest days.

However, quite a few people in the crowd shouted, "Tsk, this is boring. It's been a while since she tried to jump off the building. She must be some eye-catching woman!"

I laughed again at them. They were wrong about me.

When the crowd dispersed and the firefighters thought I dispelled the idea of committing suicide and relaxed their vigilance towards me, I suddenly turned around and ran towards the edge of the rooftop and jumped down without hesitation in front of everyone.

Chapter 2

The last minute I fell from the building, a thought flashed through my mind. Maybe I could be regarded as a good person who didn't implicate others when she committed suicide.

"Diana Caldwell!!" a magnetic voice shouted my name with despair.

The next second, I saw the young firefighter rushing towards me to catch me, but it was too late.

Since he wore no protection, he fell down with me.

While falling, I finally saw his face clearly in his tight arms.

Why did he save me without hesitation when he had no protection for himself?

Tears streamed down my cheek. "I'm sorry..." I was really sorry for him, although the apology meant nothing now.

With a harsh crush, I felt my organs ruptured and lost consciousness after the anguish wrapped my body.

Surprisingly, I woke up in the hospital safe and sound!

Hadn't I been dead after jumping off the building? What on earth was going on?

"Diana? What do you feel now? Are you alright?" my assistant, Bella Nelson, came to ask about my condition attentively.

"Didn't I fall from the building?" I expressed the doubts in my mind.

Hearing that, Bella touched my forehead and said, "You're not in a fever. Diana. Your brain is not damaged because of the diet, right? But I have to say that Mr. Wallace is really so heartless. He didn't come to see you here at all..."

Maybe it was when I fainted on the red carpet at a ceremony and was mocked by the whole internet.

"Is it Christmas today?" I asked.

"Yeah! Are you sure there's nothing wrong with your brain?" Bella looked very fretted.

"I'm fine!" It seemed that I was reborn one month before I discovered the truth.

Maybe God even felt unfair for the injustice I had suffered in my first life and granted me another chance to live my life.

In my second life, I would be bound to protect the young firefighter who saved me even at the expense of his life!

Although I didn't know his name, his stunning face had engraved on my mind.

Relying on my memory, I found the fire unit where he worked.

Just when I parked my Tank 300 in front of the fire station. "Do you need any help?" a firefighter knocked on my car window and asked.

Just when I parked my Tank 300 in front of the fire station, "Do you need any help?" a firefighter knocked on my car window and asked.

"Who are you looking for?" he asked again.

Well...

On the day he jumped off the rooftop with me, I didn't hear any of his colleagues calling his name and only remembered his appearance!

Just when I was wondering how to find him, a fire truck that had just returned stopped in front of us.

Although they all looked dirty and exhausted, I still recognized him at a glance in the crowd.

I pointed at him not far away and said, "Sir, he's the one I'm looking for!"

"Sebastian Lewis!"

"I'm here!" he answered.

"Come here."

"Yes, sir."

So, that was his name. It sounded as wonderful as his face.

Within half a minute, he ran to me.

"Sir, do you have something to talk to me about?" he gave a standard salute and stood at attention.

His leader playfully joked at him, "Why don't you tell us, young man?"

Sebastian seemed very confused. Patting him on the shoulder, his leader pointed at me and said, "Why don't you tell us you have found such a pretty girlfriend?"

The next second, I saw Sebastian tilting his head to look at me and raising his eyebrows at me, as if asking what was going on.

Chapter 3

I waved my hands, trying to explain, "No, it's not like that! I just came to..."

Before I could finish, Sebastian's teammates swarmed over and said, "Hello!"

"Why does she look so familiar? To be honest, I feel like she looks like Diana Caldwell, that famous actress!"

"You fool! She is Diana Caldwell! By the way, could you sign for me?"

"Oh my god! Sebastian, you are awesome! I thought your mobile wallpaper was her picture you downloaded online, it was actually your girlfriend!"

...

Everyone fell silent as Sebastian glared at them. "You all have regained your strength, right? Now, go to the training ground..."

"No, no!" In an instant, the rest of the firefighters all disappeared.

Among their squabbles, I grabbed the key point that Sebastian used my picture as his mobile wallpaper!

Smiling gratefully to Sebastian's leader, I implied whether he could leave us alone, and he took my hint and left.

Then, I approached Sebastian step by step. "You are more handsome in the daytime than at night!"

I reached out to wipe the ashes off his face, but when my hand was less than a few inches away from him, he wiped the dirt off his face himself.

So, I took my hand back and put it behind my back. "Since you set my photo as your mobile wallpaper, I think there's no need for self-introduction, right?"

"Well. I... It... It's the default screensaver of my phone!" Sebastian explained shyly.

He seemed to be a pure boy!

Catching a glimpse of the blush on his face, I couldn't help but tease him, "I wonder what kind of phone you're using. I have to say you have a pretty good taste!"

As soon as I finished speaking, his face turned even redder, all the way to his ears.

"Well, I was just kidding!" I couldn't suppress the smile any more.

Then, I ran to the back of my car, opened the trunk, and called him over. "You've worked hard. This is my appreciation for you guys. Please accept it!"

In front of the trunk full of milk, bread and snacks, he frowned slightly. "Thank you for your kindness, but we can't receive gifts. It's our discipline." after saying that, he turned around and was about to go back to the team.

I immediately carried a box of milk and stuffed it into his arms. "Here's the thing. Does taking gifts from your girlfriend violate your discipline?"

Maybe my words were totally beyond his expectations. He just held the milk and was too stunned to utter a word.

"In order to contribute to society, I am willing to be your girlfriend!" I looked into his eyes and said it very seriously.

He swallowed, avoiding my topic, and said, "Please don't say that again!" Then, he went in with the box of milk.

"Yes, sir!" I smiled at his back.

His broad shoulders and thin waist were amazing! I quickly took out my phone to take a picture of his back and was about to ask for his number when his teammates all rushed out and carried the food and snacks in my trunk. Soon, it was emptied.

Every time they passed by, they would thank me as Sebastian's girlfriend.

I was so embarrassed yet excited to hear that.

However, Sebastian didn't come out to see me even after his teammates moved all the supplies I bought for them into the fire station.

After completing the task of treating the firefighters with some refreshments, I returned to deal with my unfinished work.

In order to relieve him of burden, I anonymously sent a large truckload of supplies to his fire station every week.
