Chapter 3
I bit my lower lip tightly and walked into Elena's study quietly.
In her previous life, she was able to bring down my parents’ company in a short period of time because of a top-secret document.
It contains important business information from us at Johnson Enterprises.
This time, I will take the information away in advance to prepare for a rainy day.
When I sat down at the desk, I realized that the wedding photo of Elena and I had been replaced with a photo of Ryan.
The boy's smile was innocent, but it reminded me that my marriage with Elena was over.
I suppressed the bitterness in my heart and quickly found the file.
I actually set a password!
In a panic, I tried all the possible passwords for Elena, but none of them worked.
Finally, I pressed a string of numbers for some unknown reason.
Looking at the prompt that the password was correct, my head started buzzing again.
The day Elena and Ryan first met.
"It's late, aren't you asleep yet, Darling?"
I don't know when Elena leaned against the door and looked at me with a playful look on her face.
"Is Darling jealous?"
I took a deep breath and looked at her sarcastically.
"Isn't it just an insignificant assistant?"
Elena shrugged helplessly.
"I don't know what's wrong with me. I feel inexplicably happy when I see him. I want to be with him all the time. Darling, this is the first time I feel this way. Do you think I'm poisoned..."
"But don't worry, in my heart, no one can replace Darling..."
"Darling, we haven't had sex in a while...do you want to?"
As she said this she rubbed against me, the desire from just now had not yet completely subsided, and now it was showing signs of resurfacing again.
I quickly stepped back, a hint of disgust flashing in my eyes.
I took out the documents I had prepared in advance and handed them to her.
She raised her eyebrows, "What do you like now? Okay, okay, I'll buy you whatever you like!"
After saying that, she didn't even look at it and wrote her name with a stroke of the pen.
My goal was achieved, so I bent down and slipped out from under her, pretending to be tired.
"I'm tired. Maybe next time."
Other men started the fire, but they want to use me to put it out.
Don’t even think about it!
I clenched the divorce agreement in my hand, feeling extremely happy.
Soon, I was free again.
The following week, Elena went overseas to attend a business reception, and Ryan had no time to apply for a passport so he had to stay at home.
There was no sign of restraint on his part. He ordered every servant in the house around with confidence and intervened in every aspect of the family.
There was a lot of complaints at home.
Mrs. Anderson came running to me in a hurry, "Sir, please go and have a look. Mr. Miller said that the crabapple tree in the yard is an eyesore and wants to move it. We tried to persuade him not to do so, but he found a ladder and climbed up the tree, saying that he wanted to trim the branches bit by bit!"
That crabapple tree was planted for me by my parents the year Elena and I got married, saying it would protect me and bring me happiness and peace for the rest of my life.
Ryan insisted on trimming it, which was clearly a way of intimidating me.
I quickly walked to the ladder and let her down.
He glanced at me defiantly, and when he saw a red figure in the distance, he slipped and fell backwards, screaming.
"ah!"
I stared with wide eyes as he fell off the ladder and landed steadily in Elena's arms.
But the ladder shook and fell heavily on me, crushing my legs.
I gasped in pain, and Elena's furious voice rang out.
"Ethan Johnson! You just have to pick on him!"
"Do you know that falling from such a high place can be fatal?"

I said weakly, "This is an accident and has nothing to do with me..."
"Don't think I don't know. That was a new ladder you had replaced. It was greased. You wanted Ryan to get hurt on purpose!"
She looked at me with resentment, and at that moment I was committing a heinous crime.
Ryan didn't even have a scratch, but she hurriedly helped him drive to the hospital.
He didn't even notice that my legs were pinned down by the ladder and were bloody.
My leg had ninety-nine stitches. When I went to pay the bill in a wheelchair despite the pain, I happened to see Ryan smiling innocently beside Elena.
He also saw me and pretended to be kind, "Elena, do you want to help the gentleman? Maybe he really didn't mean it..."
Elena looked at me with disgust, then held his arm tightly.
"He really went too far this time. Don't bother with him. Let him calm down!"
"For me now, being with you is the most important thing!"
I stared blankly at their backs as they left hand in hand, and the last bit of attachment I had for Elena in my heart was completely gone.
In that case, Elena, I have a great gift for you.
Hope you like it.
I stayed in the hospital for half a month before they let me go.
Instead of rushing home, I changed into a suit and went straight to The Grand Auction House.
Elena and Ryan were sitting in the front row, their eyes glued to each other, being intimate as if no one was around.
"Ryan, I will take a picture of today's finale exhibit as a formal dating gift..."
"But……"
Ryan hesitated to speak, his face wrinkled in distress, "Mom and Dad taught me not to be a third party, Elena, I know you are good to me, but I can't do anything wrong!"
He had a stubborn look on his face, with tears in the corners of his eyes, which instantly made Elena lose her guard.
"I'll take care of these."
"Ryan is not the third party. After the auction, I will discuss the divorce with Ethan."
Even though everything was as I expected, I couldn't help but feel sad when I heard her mention divorce in person.
I kept my composure and pulled my hat brim down, not wanting to draw attention to myself.
But Elena still glanced back and saw it, her brows furrowed.
"How did you learn to track this?"
She accused me without any explanation, completely forgetting that I had told her three months ago that I wanted to take a picture of the crown as a commemorative gift for our fifth wedding anniversary.
I didn't explain, I just nodded at her and said, "The auction has started."
Elena immediately turned around and said, "I'll settle the score with you when I get back!"
Ryan next to her glanced at me playfully, with a victorious look on his face.
Seeing the items being carefully pushed onto the stage, Ryan was dazzled by the sparkling brilliance.
It was the first time that Elena saw stars in his eyes. She felt so soft-hearted that she wanted to kneel down and offer him to her immediately.
She raised the number plate in her hand again and again until the price reached an astonishing $5 billion, and the bidding sounds around gradually subsided.
“Five billion dollars, is there a higher amount?”
The auctioneer kept a polite smile on his face and glanced around.
Elena nodded slightly, contentedly accepting Ryan's admiring gaze and the unanimous praise and boasting from the people around her.
"Elena is really capable. She gave me 5 billion dollars without blinking an eye!"
"It seems like they are serious this time. Mr. Miller is so lucky. Elena's entire wedding only cost tens of millions of dollars, but Elena actually gave him a gift worth 5 billion dollars!"
"If I were Mr. Elena, I would find a way to crawl in right now. This is such a shame!"
