Chapter 1

After being dispatched to Adrician for eight years, I finally saved enough money to buy an apartment in a good school district.

However, my mother-in-law, Carina Lambert, moved into the new apartment with my younger brother-in-law, Toby Lambert's family.

I tried to evict them, only to discover that I was not listed on the Property Ownership Certificate.

My husband, Marlon Lambert, looked guilty and said, "Nancy, as a girl, doesn't need property in a prestigious school district. Since Seamus is about to start elementary school, consider it a gift from you as his aunt!"

"A gift?"

"Ha! You might be able to take my money, but you better keep it and enjoy it while you're still alive." I thought.

——

"How's everything going with the paperwork for the property?" I asked.

Marlon turned his head guiltily and stammered, "The paperwork is done, but there is a slight deviation."

I dropped the bowl in my hand, which shattered on the ground.

I want to save money to buy my daughter's apartment in a prestigious school district.

I volunteered to work in Adrician for eight years, and it was a close call to come back alive.

"Deviation? What deviation? Don't you know that I risked my life to earn this money?"

I dropped the fork and went to see the new apartment.

Marlon tried to stop me, but I pushed him so hard that he ended up flat on his face.

I arrived at the new apartment out of breath and heard some noise inside.

I was a bit confused. "The old owner's already moved out, right?" I forcefully opened the door.

Carina and Toby's family were happily having dinner together.

I rushed in and overturned the dining table.

"Eat your mother's ass, I haven't even lived in my new home for a day, and you vampires moved in."

My sister-in-law, Anna, was still as sarcastic as ever, "Sandra, have you gone crazy? Breaking into someone else's home, smashing and looting. This is a crime! Even if we are family, we can't indulge your bad habit." Anna said as she took out her phone and called the police.

I was a bit dumbfounded. "Who gave them the courage? How could they be so arrogant? My home is occupied, and they even called the police to arrest me. Where is the justice?" I thought.

The police arrived at the scene quickly.

Anna pointed at me triumphantly, "Officer, it's her. She broke into my home without reason and caused damage. Not only did she trespass, but she also violated the legal rights of citizens. Although she is my elder sister-in-law, I cannot tolerate her disregard for the law. You can just handle this matter professionally and officially. I decline any mediation."

Carina glared at me with piercing, triangular eyes and said, "Yes, officer, please take this troublemaker away."

"This is our newly bought apartment. We haven't lived here long, and this woman has ruined it. If she doesn't compensate us greatly, this matter won't end!"

My heart felt like it had stopped beating, and in a daze, I thought I saw a ghost.

I endured eight long years in that forsaken place in Adrician solely for the sake of my daughter being able to attend a reputable school.

It took a lot of effort to save up to 500 thousand dollars, and I carefully chose this apartment.

"You guys are talking nonsense. This apartment belongs to me. I paid a whopping 500 thousand dollars for it!"

Anna sneered and said, "Just because you say it's yours, does that mean it's yours with your fair words?"

Anna took out a big red real estate ownership certificate during the conversation.

The apartment owners' column was clearly written with the names Toby Lambert and Anna Lambert.

I felt a sudden darkness before my eyes, "Impossible, this must be fake!"

Anna threw out another stack of documents; their names were still on the apartment purchase contract.

"So, this is not my apartment?"

"Where did my apartment go?"

"Where did my money go?" I thought.

I desperately cried, "No, this can't be true; their certificates are fake! They must be fake!"

At this moment, my husband Marlon, who had caught up with me, walked in. I went up and grabbed his collar, my eyes wide open with anger, and asked, "What's going on, exactly? Why are their names written on my apartment?"

Marlon didn't say a word and accompanied the police officer with a smiling face, saying it was a family conflict that would be resolved internally.

Marlon's nephew Seamus loudly expressed his dissatisfaction, "Why? Police officer, quickly arrests this bad woman."

Without outsiders, Carina became even more arrogant.

Staring at me indifferently, she said, "Don't you understand? Whoever's names are written on the paper; this apartment belongs to them!"

"This apartment has nothing to do with you, so why don't you leave immediately?"

"Today, I'll let it go since it's your first offense, but if it happens again, I won't be so lenient!"

Little Fatty Seamus made faces at me while spitting, "Lalala... you bad woman, don't think about taking away my new apartment."

At this moment, I understood everything.

On the day of buying the apartment and signing the contract, there was an important meeting at the company, and I planned to sign it another day.

But Marlon made a solemn promise with his hand on his chest.

He was absolutely reliable in handling things, which made me feel relieved.

Although Marlon often subsidized Carina, this was 500,000 dollars for the apartment purchase!

I couldn't believe he had the guts to do this.

Seeing me trembling angrily, my husband held me, "Sandra, let's go home first. Listen to me explain. We don't need a new apartment for the time being. Seamus is about to start primary school and needs this apartment more."

I regained my composure and slapped Marlon hard across the face, "What the hell are you talking about? You only care about your good nephew. Have you forgotten that our daughter should also start primary school?"

Marlon remained calm and said, "Nancy, as a girl, having a local residence permit and a school district house is not necessary. Seamus can only return to our hometown for school without a school district apartment. As his uncle, how can I bear to let Seamus return to that backward village for school while I live in a new apartment? Sandra, we are a couple; you should understand me!"

"Listen, how selfless, how saintly!" I thought.

I forcefully kicked Marlon and declared, "You can put on a show all you want, but you've crossed the line into my core interests. You don't deserve to be a father; you should be sterilized manually. I officially announce that I'm giving you to this family as a slave."

I slammed the door shut, the sound of Marlon's inhuman screams and Carina's furious reprimands echoing behind me.

Chapter 2

I have been married to Marlon for ten years and have a daughter named Nancy.

Women were weak, but we became strong when we became mothers.

For her, I was willing to go to Adrician and endure hardships.

I never expected that I would end up buying the apartment for someone else.

Usually, my husband was a dedicated supporter of his younger brother.

He always thought of his precious younger brother whenever there was something delicious or valuable at home.

He claimed, "An elder brother is like a father".

In the past, I turned a blind eye and let it go.

If I continue to endure now, I must have lost my mind!

I would fulfill him since he was willing to be someone else's father.

My daughter didn't need a father who was in contempt.

I consulted a professional lawyer.

The lawyer responded that such a large amount of marital joint property, unilaterally loaned to another individual, was invalid, and I had the right to sue for its recovery.

I was full of fighting spirit, kissed my daughter, and sent her to my mother's place.

I changed the lock at home to a fingerprint lock, packed up Marlon's personal belongings, and called a local express delivery to send them to his company.

I intended to declare to the world that I had banished that despicable man from my life!

I was organizing the evidence when I heard the sound of the fingerprint lock alarm at the door.

I opened the door and saw Carina and Anna coming in.

I crossed my arms and blocked the door, "What's the matter? Do you want to break into my apartment in broad daylight? You know so much about the law; don't you know that burglary carries a heavy sentence?"

Carina knelt at the door and knocked her head against the floor crazily. "If you've got a problem, deal with me directly! Why are you so ruthless towards your own man? You're so vicious. Woo, my poor son!"

I casually replied, "What's wrong? Is your son dead? Why are you crying so sadly? Well, you should be sad. The parasite's host is dead; you should be sad!"

Carina, who was pretending to be pitiful, couldn't hold it anymore, "You're dead; your whole family is dead."

Anna also came out to support, "Sandra, I must say, a couple should be kind to each other. How could you treat Marlon like that? Is there someone else in your life? Why did you treat him so harshly? Even if you are jealous that we moved to a new apartment, you shouldn't have been so violent towards Marlon!"

I listened to Carina and Anna's words; it seemed like there was good news!

"What's wrong? Did Marlon Lambert, that jerk, get what he deserved? That's great; such a monster who disregards his own family deserves to be stopped from procreating. Also, from today onwards, you have no relationship with me anymore. Don't blame me for being impolite if you dare to come to my door and cause trouble."

Carina could not argue her point with me and tried to rush over to fight me. I accidentally brushed her with the door to protect myself, causing her to react with a loud outcry.

I asked my acquaintance at the hospital for some information.

Uh, Marlon's injuries were indeed quite serious.

I, a weak woman, was able to leave Adrician unscathed after eight years. It was definitely because I had some fundamental martial skills.

Marlon knew he was at fault, so he didn't dare to sue me either.

Marlon was such a selfless and loving man that he must be shown off in front of the public.

I directly signed up for a local reality emotional adjustment program.

In the program, I tearfully recounted my story.

From how I gathered the courage to venture into Adrician for the sake of my beloved daughter, to the various deadly dangers I encountered in Adrician, to the joy of finally saving enough money to buy an apartment, and ultimately to all my wishes turning into nothingness.

The experienced host, Peter, shed tears.

The barrage of comments keeps scrolling non-stop in the live broadcast room.

"Was this guy born under a bad sign or something? He sure seems to have a knack for getting into trouble."

"Yes, yes, words can't describe how stupid he is."

"Sandra, quickly cut your losses in time. Divorce with this kind man quickly!"

"Is the nephew closer than the daughter? Are you sure he's really your nephew?"

This comment caught my attention.

In front of all the viewers in the live stream, I presented the relevant evidence I had prepared beforehand.

That included my eight-year salary records at Adrician, my transfer documents to Marlon, and the initial communication records with the landlord, among other relevant documents.

I didn't expect that the production team actually invited Marlon to the scene as a special guest.

To my surprise, Marlon, who had just been discharged from the hospital, unexpectedly showed up.

As soon as he got on stage, he started talking nonsense, "Sandra, I'm doing this for your own good!"

I remained silent, waiting for this idiot to expose his own shortcomings.

Peter asked with curiosity, "Mr. Lambert, please elaborate."

Marlon argued convincingly, "With only Nancy as our daughter, we don't have a son to back her up in the family."

"Seamus is Nancy's closest person in this world. And when Nancy grows up, knowing she has a brother from her birth family will give her the confidence within her husband's family."

"My love for Nancy is profound. Sandra, I have reasons for doing all this. I am doing it for the good of our daughter!"

"Besides, while we have a good relationship with Seamus now, we will have someone to rely on when we get old."

Peter interrupted, "Mr. Lambert, your ideas appear to be rooted in the last century. They hardly resonate as words from someone with a higher education."

Marlon widened his eyes and exclaimed, "What's the issue with a higher education? We cannot simply discard the legacies of our forebears!"

"Does being well-read keep one from growing old?"

"What will we do without a boy to support us when we get old?"

Peter was shocked and speechless by Marlon's ridiculous remarks.

He stuttered and said, "Mr. Lambert, time to wake up! We're in the modern times now!"

My husband sneered, "People like you who disrespect the wisdom of our ancestors will not have a good ending!"

The screen in the live broadcast studio was virtually inundated with a deluge of barrage comments.

"How pitiful; when a girl looks for a husband, she must find someone with normal intelligence."

"Don't casually find such a jerk!"

"Precisely, precisely, individuals who behave like this shouldn't be marrying and starting families!"
