Chapter 3

"Go ahead and call the police. I'd be thrilled if you did. It's only right to pay back debts. Your son probably won't let you call them because he knows he's in the wrong."

Even if the police came, at most, they'd give me a verbal warning and maybe order me to pay for the cleanup.

I got plenty of money now.

I was not afraid to pay.

"Emma, aren't you done yet?"

After all the commotion, Felix finally decided to come out.

He looked at me with such disdain, he might as well have had disgust written on his face.

"Is your family so poor you can't even afford food? Do you really need to extort 50,000‬ dollars from me? A bunch of paupers. Out of consideration for our five years together, I won't hold this against you today. Anyway, my family doesn't just have this one house now; we have plenty of places to live."

"But if you think you'll get any money from me, dream on."

Jaelyn chimed in, "My son is right. We're not in the same class as you people anymore. Just look at your shabby appearance—just looking at you makes me sick."

My parents were furious.

I sneered.

"Hmph, you're right—we're definitely not in the same class anymore. Even talking to you lowers my standards."

"A family of trash should stay in the garbage heap."

After cursing them out, I turned and pulled my parents away.

Having vented my anger, we went home, took turns washing up, and changed into fresh clothes.

Just as we were about to go out for a big meal, our family WhatsApp chat group exploded.

Beatrice, my cousin-in-law, made snide remarks in the group.

"Emma, I heard Felix broke off the engagement with you?"

"His family got 800,000 dollars and two apartments from the demolition. Why are you making a fuss with him when they're so rich?"

"I'm telling you, you really need to work on your temper. Don't act out all the time. You're not getting any younger, you're already thirty, and now that you've been dumped, who's going to want you in the future?"

"Your parents don't make much money each month. Marrying Felix would have been a blessing for your whole family, but you couldn't even hold on to that."

"Listen to your cousin-in-law. Go apologize to Felix. He's soft-hearted, maybe you can still patch things up."

Beatrice was Felix's cousin.

She was the one who set me up with Felix in the first place.

When some relatives in the group heard Felix had money, they all sided with her, trying to persuade me.

They all claimed they were saying these things for my own good.

Beatrice even posted pictures of me smashing things at Felix's house.

She twisted the story to make me look like the bad guy.

I was instantly furious, furiously typing back.

"Beatrice, do you have too much salt in your diet? Is that why you're so bored?"

Chapter 4

"When you were born, was your brain squeezed and shrunk? Why do you love groveling so much? Hurry up then, maybe you can catch something warm."

"My parents' salaries may be low, but it's still better than you earning 150 dollars a month cleaning toilets. You borrowed 5,000 dollars from me last year and promised to repay it in a month. It's been a year now. Please transfer it to my account by tomorrow, or be prepared for me to sue you."

"You like receiving blessings so much, how about I give you one? Come over and kowtow to me. I'll give you 100 for each kowtow. The more you kowtow, the more you get."

"If you want to receive this blessing, you better hurry. Once it expires, I won't wait."

"And to those who are backing him up, those who mocked my family for being poor, you really have nothing better to do. Tomorrow, I'll take my parents to buy a house and a car. Take care of your own petty issues; my matters are none of your concern."

After finishing my rant, I closed the group chat.

My parents looked at the relatives in the group, who were unanimously against me, their faces turning dark with anger.

They had been honest and straightforward their whole lives, unable to utter anything harsh, so they could only stew in silence.

I comforted them, "Dad, Mom, don't be angry. It's not worth it to harm your health over such petty people."

"Come on, your daughter will take you out for a big meal."

My parents, mindful of money, were reluctant to go.

"Emma, don't spend unnecessarily. Save the money for yourself. We're fine with anything."

"Yes, Emma, listen to your dad. I'll make you your favorite braised pork at home."

Seeing their heads full of white hair, I felt a pang of sorrow.

I was their only daughter. Although I had given them money every month all these years, they still didn't eat or dress well.

They just wanted to save money to buy me a house.

Now that I had money, it was their turn to enjoy life.

The next morning, I took my parents out.

We headed straight for the most luxurious villa district in Riverley City.

My parents asked what we were doing there. I smiled but didn't answer, only asking if they liked it.

We finally found one that we all liked.

I waved my hand and paid in full for a fully furnished villa, ready to move in.

My parents looked at me in shock, asking where I got the money.

Even suspected that I robbed the bank.

I couldn't help but laugh.

I had no choice but to tell them about the lottery win.

"Oh my god, 50,000,000 dollars? Your father and I couldn't earn that much in ten lifetimes."

My mom was so happy she almost fainted.

My dad was a bit more composed, though his hand holding the coffee cup was trembling.

"Dad, didn't you always want a car? Let's go buy one."

My dad smiled so wide that his mouth almost reached his ears.

I wanted to buy him a good one, but he insisted on a Mercedes-Benz, saying it was grand.

Helpless, I could only take him to the dealership to choose.

My dad had good taste; he liked an SUV.

I teased him, "In the future, you can drive this car and take mom out for trips. Don't worry about the money; we couldn't spend it all in a lifetime."

Chapter 5

With over 30,000,000 dollars left after taxes, just putting it in the bank would earn over a million in interest every year.

My parents couldn't spend it all just living off the interest.

Later, I would learn some investing from my mentors, and life would be perfect.

After picking out the car, I took my parents to handle the payment.

After paying, I suddenly had a whim to buy a Benz.

So, I asked the salesperson to take me to see one.

But when I returned to the showroom, I saw two eyesores.

It was Felix and Kimora.

They were gawking at a Benz, their eyes practically shining.

Felix noticed me, paused in surprise, then sneered and walked over.

"Emma? What a surprise to see you here."

Felix was wearing a suit today, looking all proper.

"What's wrong? Did you quit your job and can't find another? Are you planning to sell cars here as a salesgirl?" He looked at my parents, his face full of disdain.

"Bringing your parents to job hunt with you, aren't you ashamed? I'm embarrassed for you."

Kimora turned up her nose and looked down on me.

Kimora also mocked in a sarcastic tone.

"Looking for a job, huh? No problem. I have a friend working as a salesperson here. If you slap yourself twice, I'll ask my friend to recommend you."

As she spoke, she turned around and complained to the salesperson beside her, who had been pulling her and giving her warning looks.

"Remember the little tramp I mentioned last night, the one clinging to my husband? That's her. Now that she sees my husband has money, she's trying every way to get some. She's so shameless."

Before I could say anything, the two salespeople following me and Kimora both frowned.

Kimora's friend pulled her aside and advised, "Stop it. She's one of Danna's clients."

Felix and Kimora were momentarily stunned.

Then, they laughed out loud, disregarding any sense of decency.

Kimora mocked further, "You say she's your client? Don't make me laugh. My husband knows how poor she is better than anyone. Forget buying any car here; she probably can't even afford a car tire."

Felix chimed in, "Kimora is right. You must have been fooled by her."

"Not everyone who walks into your store is a potential customer. Open your eyes and take a good look. Don't let beggars like her in next time."

I had just bought an SUV worth over 150,000 dollars without batting an eye.

And many salespeople witnessed it, including the friend standing beside Kimora.

I sneered.

Looking at the Benz on display, I said, "I saw you two almost popping your eyeballs out at these Benz earlier. If you can afford them, why haven't you signed the papers yet?"

Felix's face immediately showed embarrassment.

He did receive 800,000 dollars relocation compensation, but a Benz, once fully paid for, far exceeded that amount.

He simply couldn't afford it.

He stubbornly said, "I was just looking. I don't like the color of this one, so I didn't plan to buy it."

"Oh, really?" I smiled and turned to the salesperson, Danna. "Since they aren't buying it, I'll take it. Please charge my card."
