Chapter 2

I had no opinion and I usually agreed to Edmond’s decisions. He had long been accustomed to the days when I listened to him.

In my previous life, I believed in Edmond and recruited Laurel into my family.

As a result, Laurel was too inexperienced and I had to remind her of many things.

When Edmond was not at home, she would go to the living room to watch TV and eat melon seeds. When Edmond came home, she would pretend to work seriously.

“Husband, our confinement nanny is not very professional. Why don’t we change one?”

I hinted to Edmond more than once.

“Laurel works so hard. Don’t scold her just because she is young.”

Edmond never tolerated me saying anything bad about Laurel.

Until that day, I saw Edmond and Laurel having sex on my bed in the surveillance video.

“I just went out for a pregnancy check-up. One of you is my husband and the other is my confinement nanny. You both said you were too busy to accompany me! As a result, you did this kind of thing on my bed at home!”

I pushed the surveillance video in front of the two of them. Edmond didn’t even explain. He just watched me go crazy and sighed helplessly.

“Sophie, I also need someone to take care of my physiological needs. There’s nothing I can do about it!”

Laurel hid behind Edmond, naked and said aggrievedly, “Sophie, you are pregnant and can’t take good care of Edmond. I’m helping you. How can you be so mean to him?”

I looked at them in disbelief.

“You… You guys!”

The baby in my belly seemed to know something and kicked my stomach crazily.

There was also blood flowing from my body.

When I woke up again, I was already in the ICU, being tortured repeatedly between severe pain and fainting.

In a daze, I heard the voice of my mother-in-law on the phone at the door, her tone was anxious.

“Is Edmond not back yet? Why is he still traveling with Laurel at this time! My grandson is about to be born!”

I stayed in the ICU to go through the gates of hell, but Edmond was traveling with her?

I sneered in my heart and another severe pain came.

The nurse who rescued me left the ward and took off her mask. My mother-in-law was outside, saying excitedly that she wanted to save the youngest one over the older one.

“The patient has died... one body and two lives.”

“Sophie, you…”

Edmond was stunned for a moment, then he began to persuade me.

“Laurel is young, but don’t underestimate her. She works very well.”

I woke up from my memories, suppressed the tears in my eyes and interrupted him, “Husband, why don’t you ask Mom to come to our house to take care of me?”

The mom I mentioned was naturally my mother-in-law.

I was carrying her grandson in my belly and asking her to watch over her was at least more reassuring than a stranger.

“But aren’t you the one who the least wants Mom to come to your house?”

Edmond was puzzled.

After I married him, my mother-in-law always made things difficult for me and our relationship was in deep trouble.

Every time she came to stay at home for two days, I couldn’t stand it.

I smiled, raising a decent and gentle smile.

“But she is your mother after all, husband. I want your mother to take care of the baby in my belly. She must be willing to do so.”

Edmond’s eyes softened and he hugged me with emotion.

“Sophie, you are still filial. You are the woman I love most in this life.”

My eyes were cold.

When the child was born, I would leave him and this family completely.

Chapter 3

Early the next morning, I was awakened by the sound of the door opening outside.

“Here, these are the slippers I bought for you. Disney co-branded, pink, do you like them?”

Listening to Edmond’s voice, I walked out of the bedroom with my big belly.

I saw a woman standing behind him that I would never forget.

Laurel!

“Oh, Sophie, you’re awake. Let me introduce you, this is Laurel.”

Edmond introduced me with a smile and he seemed to be in a good mood.

Laurel said softly, “Hello, Sophie. I’m your future confinement nanny, please bear with me.”

How could it be, how could it be possible!

Edmond had always been filial and he would not be unwilling to let my mother-in-law take care of me.

Unless...

He thought this woman was more important!

“What’s going on…”

I didn’t shake hands with Laurel, but looked at her warily.

“I thought about it carefully and I still don’t think it’s good for Mom to take care of you. What’s more, Laurel’s family is in trouble and recruiting her is also a good thing,” Edmond explained.

Oh, there were difficulties?

Edmond, it seemed that you were determined to redeem your childhood sweetheart?

Laurel didn’t give up like in the last life, but took care of me wholeheartedly.

She knew that I didn’t welcome her, so she pretended to be submissive, afraid that I would drive her away.

“Oh!”

I heard a cracking sound and when I went to the kitchen, I found that it was Laurel who broke the bowl.

Before I said anything, Laurel immediately burst into tears.

“I’m sorry, Sophie. It’s all my clumsiness.”

Edmond came over after hearing the sound, looking at me with a solemn expression and Laurel who was wronged.

“What’s wrong, Laurel. Why are you so scared?”

Laurel hiccuped and stuttered.

“It’s all my fault. I broke the bowl. Sophie didn’t blame me. I was just afraid… I know you don’t like me. Sophie, I’ll clean it up right away!”

As he said that, Laurel picked up a piece of glass shard with her bare hands, but accidentally cut her finger and blood beads came out.

Edmond was already frowning, dissatisfied with my reaction and now he was even more distressed.

“Okay, okay, Laurel, I’ll help you. Sophie, Laurel obviously didn’t offend you. Why are you so mean to her. Is it because she is young and beautiful?”

Edmond rarely spoke harshly to me.

Young and beautiful? But Edmond, before I married you and got pregnant for you, I was also a young and beautiful girl.

After helping Laurel clean up, Edmond said he would take her to the room to get the medicine box to treat the wound on her hand.

The baby in my belly was getting bigger and bigger and I was about to give birth.

I just felt my stomach contracting in waves.

I was going to give birth!

I leaned against the wall to go to the bedroom, wanting to ask Edmond to take me to the hospital, but I saw a man and a woman touching their lips.

“Oh, Edmond, Sophie will see it!”

“What are you afraid of? She is pregnant and has difficulty moving. How can she come here in a short time!”

“Hmph~ You are bad~”

I clenched my hands, endured the pain in my heart, took out my phone and sent a message.

In case no one took care of me, I had already notified my friend in advance.

His name was Arnold and he was a lawyer.

Not long after I sent the message, he drove downstairs. I took a last look at the two people flirting in the bedroom and left the house with difficulty.

After being pushed into the delivery room, I fought for more than an hour and gave birth to a healthy boy.

I looked at the phone Arnold handed me weakly. Edmond did not send me a message.

But it was okay.

The condoms in the bedroom were placed in the cabinet at the head of the bed.

When Edmond and Laurel were in love and needed to use condoms, Edmond would find the divorce agreement I put in there.

I left the hospital with my child and moved into Arnold’s house.

“Thank you.” I thanked him.

“Don’t say so much. You should rest first.” Arnold quickly helped me to bed and handed the child to the senior confinement nanny he had just hired.

Before I lay down completely, my cell phone rang and I found that there were dozens of missed calls on it.

Edmond’s voice was slightly panicked. “Sophie, why do you want to divorce me!”
