Chapter 1

In the blizzard, the traffic was almost paralyzed. I waited in the cold wind all night, but I still didn't see Asher Williams.

Just when I was about to faint from the cold, my phone suddenly vibrated. It was a message from Asher, saying, "The company is doing emergency relief. I'm not going."

I checked Instagram with trembling hands, hoping to find someone who could give me a ride. But what I saw was a post from Gianna Scott, Asher's female assistant, saying, "Thank Mr. Williams for the food."

In the video, she was wearing Asher's suit, holding a cup of hot drink, and on the table was the meal I had carefully prepared for Asher last night.

In the past, I might have called Asher to question him.

But now, I just calmly liked the post and turned off my phone.

After being rescued and sent back home, I left with my luggage without saying goodbye. Asher was like crazy, searching for me everywhere.

He said, "Olivia, I'm sorry. Please come back."

A once-in-a-century blizzard swept the whole city. My colleagues all left the company one after another, leaving only me in the office.

"Olivia, why haven't you left yet?"

"My husband is coming to pick me up. You guys go ahead."

Amidst the friendly teasing of my colleagues, I smiled bitterly and reluctantly clicked open the chat record with Asher.

When it started snowing in the afternoon, he sent me a message. "There will be a blizzard tonight. I'll come pick you up."

He was always like this. He clearly wanted to make peace, but he just didn't put it bluntly.

A month ago, on our wedding anniversary, I had an appointment with him in advance, but he completely forgot and didn't come home until midnight.

I was waiting for him at home, but I saw him on Gianna's Instagram post.

He was happily celebrating Gianna's birthday with a few female colleagues.

Gianna smiled a radiant smile in his arms.

After he came home at night, I asked him about this, but he flew into a rage.

"She was drunk and leaned on me. What's the big deal?"

"Do I need your permission to celebrate a subordinate's birthday?"

But Gianna smiled so brightly in his arms. She didn't look like she was drunk.

I said a few more words, and he walked straight into the study and slammed the door shut.

Since that day, Asher and I hadn't been on speaking terms. For a whole month, we didn't say a word to each other.

In the past, as long as Asher talked to me, I would run to him like a happy dog and take all the blame.

This time, I didn't have much hope for him and just replied, "Okay."

Five hours passed, and the security guards came to urge me to leave and lock the door.

I checked the chat box and found Asher hadn't sent me a message yet.

Helplessly, I could only carry my stuff downstairs and wait for Asher in the cold wind.

The blizzard came suddenly. I browsed the news on my phone and there were overwhelming reports of traffic jams, which made me feel a little uneasy.

I hesitated for a long time and finally sent a message to Asher.

"I saw the news of traffic jams everywhere. Be careful on the road."

After I sent him this message, there was no response for a long time.

I held my phone and waited for Asher in the cold wind all night.

I didn't know how long I was waiting. I almost lost consciousness while squatting on the ground. Suddenly, my phone in my arms vibrated.

I sat up with a jerk, picked up my phone, and checked the message, but I only saw Asher's indifferent words.

"The company is doing emergency relief. I'm not going."

Chapter 2

The moment I saw his message, my vision went foggy and I almost fainted.

While I was waiting for Asher here, there were passing vehicles willing to give me a ride. But given that Asher had not replied to my message, I was worried that he would be on the way. So I stubbornly waited here.

But I only received this message from him that made me desperate.

I waited there all night and my hands almost went numb with cold.

I posted on Instagram with trembling hands, wanting to know if anyone nearby could give me a ride.

But after I posted it, I accidentally saw a post from Gianna last night.

The caption said, "Trapped in a blizzard. Thank Mr. Williams for the food."

In the video, Gianna curled up, wearing Asher's suit jacket, and someone handed her a cup of water. The lunch box on the table looked very familiar, and it was the meal I prepared for Asher.

I looked at the familiar wedding ring on that hand, and my heart began to ache.

But maybe because of the cold weather or some other reason, I quickly calmed down and no longer questioned Asher hysterically like before.

I gave it a like and then quickly deleted what I just posted.

Enduring the soreness all over my body, I stood up and waved on the road.

Luckily, the rescue team passing by found me and sent me back home.

After I took a shower and lay down on the bed, Asher still hadn't come back.

My phone was there. I checked the battery and it was full. After a long day, I felt tired and quickly fell asleep.

But not long after, I was awakened by Asher's scolding.

"What's wrong with you? Where is your phone? Do you know how long I've been looking for you?"

Asher shouted angrily at the bedroom door, and I was awakened, looking confused.

"Didn't you say you were doing rescue work and wouldn't come?

I looked at Asher with a puzzled expression, not understanding why he was so angry.

Shouldn't I be the one getting angry?

Asher angrily took out his phone. "What do you mean by the post on your Instagram? Do you want my colleagues to laugh at me?"

But he scrolled down to the posts of last year and still didn't find the one he was talking about, but he saw that I liked Gianna's Instagram post.

He looked at me suspiciously, as if he didn't understand why I didn't argue with him this time.

I just rolled my eyes at him and lay down with my back to him.

Asher didn't say anything. After a while, he quietly shut the door and opened the door to the study.

I was too tired from standing in the cold all night, so I ignored him and went back to sleep.

When I woke up the next day, it was already ten o'clock.

Maybe I caught a cold, so I felt a splitting headache. But when I thought about the important meeting at noon today, I hauled myself out of bed. I packed up my stuff and went to the company.

My colleagues saw my flushed face and asked me with concern if I caught a cold yesterday. They even brought me cold medicine and fever patches.

I checked my phone and saw the chat history with Asher from last night.

I laughed at myself and was about to put down my phone and start working when I suddenly saw a pop-up message.

Asher said, "Are you still mad at me?"

Seeing this, I rolled my eyes.

He was gentle and considerate to Gianna, but he was impatient with me.

Soon he sent another message. "Why didn't you prepare lunch for me today?"

"I forgot." Anyway, even if I made it, he wouldn't eat it. Why did I bother?

Since we got married, I had been preparing lunch for him every day, just to let him have a delicious meal in his busy work.

It was the same even though we were not on speaking terms. But I didn't expect that he would use the meal I cooked to please another woman.

Later, I was busy with work, threw my phone aside, and never looked at it again.

After work, I stretched and checked my phone, and then I saw the last message Asher sent me in the morning.

"I'll pick you up tonight."

Chapter 3

I wanted to refuse, but when I looked at the sunny weather outside, I agreed.

Asher replied quickly. "I'm in the parking lot of your company."

I was stunned by Asher's enthusiasm. Without thinking much, I packed up and came downstairs to look for his car.

But I searched the parking lot four or five times and still didn't see him.

Just as I was about to send him a message asking where he was, he called.

"Where are you? I've been waiting here for so long. Why haven't you come down yet?"

I looked around. "I've been circling the parking lot and haven't seen you."

Asher's tone suddenly became impatient. "Can't you look around for any landmarks?"

That was what Asher was like. He got impatient after just a few words with me.

As soon as the words slipped out, he seemed to realize that he had a bad attitude and said, "Which gate? I'll come for you."

Hearing this, I suddenly realized something.

Half a year ago, our company moved to a new address. This building only had one exit.

"Asher, did you go to the old address?"

"What? Have you changed jobs?" Asher suddenly reacted. "Oh, I remember now. I'm coming over. Wait for me there."

"It will take over an hour to come over. I'll just go home." After saying that, I hung up the phone.

When I arrived home, Asher was waiting for me downstairs.

"How about we dine out tonight?"

It seemed like he wanted to make it up to me. Given his unusual behavior, I could guess that he must have made a reservation at a restaurant.

But wasn't it a bit too late?

I looked at him indifferently. "I'm not feeling well. I don't want to go out."

In the past, I would always come home early and prepare dinner, eagerly waiting for Asher to come home.

But Asher came back home drunk at midnight every time.

Whenever I complained a little, he would get furious and say, "You're always complaining. I work so hard every day just for our family."

"If you're not coming back for dinner, can't you let me know in advance?"

"The client made a last-minute appointment with me. What could I do?"

"Why are you making such a big deal out of this? It's so annoying."

Then he slammed shut the study door and wouldn't say a word to me for the whole night.

So I stopped talking to him afterward. I would just prepare the food and keep it warm, waiting for him to come back.

Seeing my indifferent attitude, Asher didn't say anything else.

He followed behind me and explained, "I was too busy recently and I forgot that you told me about the company relocation. It wasn't intentional."

Without a word, I walked forward calmly.

Asher seemed surprised by my reaction and asked me.

"Aren't you angry?" I stopped in my tracks and looked at him calmly.

"Do you really want to argue with me right now?"

Asher's expression turned gloomy and he remained silent, but at that moment, his phone suddenly rang.

He answered the phone and Gianna's voice rang out.

"Mr. Williams, there was a sudden power outage at my house. I'm really scared at home. Can you come over and check on me?"

Asher looked at me with probing eyes, but I ignored him, opened the door, and walked into the house.

After a while, Asher also walked in.

He stammered and explained to me, "Gianna is a young girl who just graduated. It's really not easy for her to work in a strange city."

"Alright, I don't want to hear anymore. I'm not feeling well, so I'll go take a bath."

With that, I walked into the bathroom and wanted to take a hot bath to relieve my fatigue.

But just as I took off my clothes, Asher walked in. "Honey, we haven't taken a bath together for a long time."

I grabbed a towel and wrapped myself up, looking at him coldly.

"Go out. I want to be alone for a while."
