Chapter 2
2
I looked straight at the director, but he seemed even more shocked than I was.
Director Warren was notoriously picky in the industry, always seeking a kind of raw, natural beauty.
He once bluntly stated that celebrities who'd had plastic surgery shouldn't bother embarrassing themselves in his productions, but this statement had the opposite effect.
All those trending celebrities, eager to prove they hadn't had work done, tried their hardest to get cast in his films.
Director Warren leaned in and whispered in my ear, "That nose job is so natural, I couldn't even tell."
"Your punch was like a demon-revealing mirror. Now everyone knows his nose is fake."
In reality, everyone knew. Only Caden Landon was kept in the dark.
He clasped his hands together, putting on an expression he thought was both cool and cute.
"Raina, I was forced to say those things during a game of Truth or Dare. It was just a game. Don't listen to outsiders spreading rumors."
"I do like you. I just felt like I wasn't good enough for you, so I didn't dare respond to your advances."
His crooked nose made his whole face look ridiculous and comical.
I couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Caden Landon didn't understand. After a brief pause, he prepared to forcibly kiss me in front of everyone.
'Is he trying to force us into a relationship right now?'
I shrank back in disgust, only to find his hand clamped tightly around my waist, holding me in place.
"Let go! Don't come any closer!"
At that critical moment, the Extra I had singled out earlier stepped forward and sent him flying with a kick.
Caden Landon went airborne, and when he hit the ground, he tumbled over and over.
'Is that something a person can even do?'
Everyone, myself included, was stunned once again.
After his shock wore off, Director Warren became excited. He grabbed the Extra's hand and wouldn't let go.
"I've decided! You'll be the Exiled Immortal Master. How about a salary of $5 million?"
Hearing this, Caden Landon scrambled up angrily. "No! The Master is my role! No one is allowed to take it!"
I got a mirror from my assistant and held it up in front of the man who was oblivious to his own crooked nose.
"Do you think, in your current state, you're still fit to play a master who's like an exiled immortal?"
Caden Landon belatedly covered his nose and let out a few miserable shrieks.
"AHHHH! Why is my nose crooked?! Raina Sheridan, you did this! You'll pay for my nose!"
"Don't think I'm afraid of you just because you're President Sheridan's daughter! Assault gets you jail time! I'm calling the police right now. And when Raina Sheridan is in jail, your production won't be able to continue filming either. Public opinion will tear you all to shreds."
The moment he heard the threat to call the police, Director Warren's expression darkened.
He had spent six months negotiating with the original author for the rights to the *An Immortal's Inquiry* script, and then another six months securing the investment from my dad.
Amidst everyone's dark expressions, I was the only one who laughed out loud.
Caden Landon's gaze turned sinister. "Raina Sheridan, you've doomed the entire production, yet you're acting like nothing happened. Truly worthy of a heartless Heiress."
With just a few provocative words, he actually managed to convince some people, who began to mutter amongst themselves.
My mind uncontrollably flashed back to the cyberbullying I experienced in my past life. The feeling of being constantly torn apart by venomous snakes and savage beasts swept over me once again.
Seeing that I was in a bad state, Caden Landon pressed his advantage, continuously spouting scandalous rumors about me.
The whole world went dark. All I could see was that mouth, endlessly spewing filth, opening and closing, opening and closing.
'If I just tore it to shreds,' I couldn't help but think, 'would that finally stop this infuriating sound?'
"Raina Sheridan, calm down! We all saw Caden Landon try to force a kiss on you first. If anyone's at fault, it's him for starting it."
"Don't get drawn in again. He's deliberately trying to provoke you into attacking him."
Suddenly, a resonant and powerful voice cut through the crowd, piercing the darkness.

: Nasal Implant

Caden Landon looked over, and when he saw who had spoken—an "old acquaintance"—he flew into a rage.
"You again! Can't you just stay put like the little Extra you are? What are you doing butting in?"
"Don't think you're going to hit the big time just because you landed that role. An Extra is always an Extra. You'll play the part, and you're still destined to be ridiculed by the whole internet."
My eyes gradually regained their focus.
'When I really thought about it, aside from being exceptionally good at making a scene, Caden Landon had nothing else going for him.'
I glanced at Director Warren, who immediately walked over to the monitors.
'Anyone who could do business with my dad had to be quick on their feet.'
I took a few small steps, luring him into the camera's frame.
"Caden Landon, I won't deny the fact that I hit you. And I'll pay every penny of the compensation I owe."
He listened, then said with his nose in the air, "$200 million. Otherwise, I won't agree to a private settlement."
'Hilarious. It's not like I was planning to settle privately anyway.'
'What kind of nose is worth $200 million?'
"Let's just go straight to litigation. We'll let a judge decide. That'll save us from this pointless haggling."
"Just a friendly reminder: you should go to the police station first and get an official injury report. A simple nasal fracture is considered a minor injury, which means I won't face jail time."
"After the injury report, you can get a disability assessment. Except, an injury like this won't even be classified as a disability. The best you can get is a designated recovery period covering lost wages, nursing care, and nutritional support."
"Once the whole process is done, you'll probably get around a few hundred thousand dollars in compensation."
Caden Landon stared at me, completely baffled. He was clearly clueless about the law.
"My face is disfigured, how is that not a disability?"
The onlookers stared at me with the same baffled expressions.
I scoffed. "Because I'll request a causality assessment. The punch of an average woman isn't strong enough to do that to a nose. It only looks this bad because you have an implant in there."
"You can go to the hospital and get a maxillofacial CT scan. We'll see if I actually broke your nasal bone, or if I just knocked your implant crooked."
"If it's the latter, just go get the implant fixed. You can bring me the invoice, and I'll reimburse you."
Caden Landon opened his mouth, but couldn't get a single word out.
'If I had just sworn at him, he would've fired back with something even more vicious.'
'But by countering this way, with that empty head of his, he would have trouble just repeating the technical terms, let alone refuting my argument.'
Behind the monitor, Director Warren didn't forget to give me a thumbs-up. Then he delivered the finishing blow, "Caden Landon, did you get all that?"
