Chapter 5

At eight in the morning, the person had already left, only leaving two messages on the phone.

[There is breakfast on the table outside, remember to heat it up in the microwave.]

[I will be busy with company matters for another week. I will make time to spend with you before the wedding.]

Lidia turned off her phone, did not ask much about his schedule, ate breakfast and went out.

She had to apply for the visa herself and her biological parents could use their connections to expedite the process so that she could get the visa and green card before the wedding.

In the next few days, she dealt with the things around her and said goodbye to her good friends one by one.

Int the private room, her friends expressed their understanding of her impending departure.

“We all guessed that the protagonist of the wedding might change.”

The friend opened Instagram on her phone and showed it to Lidia.

In Instagram, Jeffry showed off his affection in a high-profile manner.

“Although the woman didn't show her face, we all knew it wasn't you.”

She peeked at their happiness through Instagram.

They went hiking and camping together, watched meteor showers and went to the amusement park.

The most recent update to their Instagram was of the two of them trying on wedding rings in a jewelry store.

In the photo, the two of them were holding hands and the feeling of happiness filled the screen.

And, all of these posts could not be seen by Lidia.

A notification came on her phone at the right time.

[The heir of the Hopkins Family spent five million to buy a diamond necklace just to make his wife smile.]

In the blurry photo, she recognized the woman as Pamela at a glance.

She smiled bitterly in silence. He was unwilling to give a wedding gift, but instead spent a huge amount of money on Pamela.

“Lidia, there's no need to be sad for a scumbag. You deserve better.”

“They are just scumbags and bitches and there will be no good ending for them.”

“Lidia, Jeffry is not worthy of your love.”

If it were in the past, she would have cried in despair, but her love had been completely worn out by Jeffry in these few days.

She would never feel sad for him again.

Lidia smiled and said, “I don't care anymore. But can I trouble you with something?”

In a few days, she would be gone forever and her identity would be cancelled.

She must take advantage of these few days to get everything done.

The countdown was shortened day by day and she thought she would not see Jeffry again before the wedding.

But when the man appeared in front of her, she just raised her eyelids and had no reaction.

There were still four days before the wedding and even after returning home, she was still working on his computer.

Lidia sat cross-legged on the sofa with a laptop on her lap, watching the video playing in silence.

She had seen those scenes countless times and her mood was no longer affected by them.

This was her gift to congratulate Jeffry on his wedding.

Jeffry stopped and looked up and Lidia subconsciously closed the laptop screen.

“Lidia, are all the things for the wedding ready?”

He did mind the empty room after all, so he asked again, “It's so empty. We're getting married in four days, remember?”

Lidia was shocked that he still remembered this and nodded in agreement. But it was not their wedding, but his and Pamela's.

The mobile phone on the coffee table lit up. Lidia picked it up quickly, but Jeffry still saw two words.

“What visa? Where are you going?”

Lidia responded calmly, “Fraudulent news, where would I go?”

Jeffry breathed a sigh of relief. “That's right. Lidia, can the honeymoon trip be postponed? The company has a big project that can't be done without me.”

“Well, I'll follow your arrangements.”

Lidia knew that it was Pamela who would not let him go. Ever since she appeared, she wanted to be with Jeffry all the time.

Looking at the woman's indifferent face, Jeffry felt a little uneasy.

Lidia was born in the Lester Family. She was very outstanding but not loved by her parents, so she was particularly sensible and lacking security.

Ever since they got together, she always asked, ‘Does he love her?’

Since the engagement party, her attitude has changed and her strange attitude makes him feel uneasy.

“Lidia, don't worry, wait until I'm done with my work, then...."

Lidia said softly, “There is no future.”

“What did you say?”

Lidia looked at him and asked back instead of answering his question, “Where's your ring?”

“It seems to have fallen outside.” Jeffry recalled that it seemed to have fallen there when he and Pamela were trying on rings in the jewelry store.

He was just about to make an excuse when he heard the woman's voice cut him off, “Forget it if it's lost, just buy a new one.”

He and Pamela had already bought new rings, so the old one would just be better to throw away.

Jeffry was stunned. When did Lidia become so generous?

Her indifferent attitude made him feel upset. He wanted to say a few more words, but Lidia picked up the computer and left.

“I'm going to rest.”

The two of them were so familiar with each other for years, but that day, they seemed like strangers.

Chapter 6

Two days left before leaving.

Mr. and Mrs. Lester could not bear it any longer and asked Lidia to go home.

They seemed to have forgotten the farce at the engagement party and gave her orders in a condescending manner.

Mrs. Lester said, “Pamela is the eldest daughter of the Lester Family. She should be the hostess of the wedding. If you are smart, you should take the initiative to ask Jeffry to change the hostess.”

Mr. Lester also said, “You only have all this because of your identity. You should give it all back to her.”

Pamela crossed her arms and held her chin high.

Lidia, who had been treated coldly by her parents since childhood, did not feel bad.

“I don't have the final say on the wedding. You can discuss it with Jeffry. I agree with everything.”

The indifferent attitude made Mr. and Mrs. Lester were quite suspicious.

They were just waiting for Lidia to take the initiative to talk about the marriage exchange after the engagement party.

They waited and waited but she did not come. They thought she did not want to come, but then looking at her attitude, it was clear that she did not care.

Although they were skeptical, they still believed her.

Lidia asked lazily, “Is there anything else?”

“I have something to tell you.” Pamela came over and winked at herparents, “Come with me.”

The two of them went to the balcony.

Pamela glanced at Lidia with a smile on her face.

“To tell you the truth, I've been with Jeffry for a long time. He told me countless times that you're so clingy, that he hates your constant probing and that he hates your sensitivity. He's tired of you a long time ago.”

Lidia did not respond.

“I will not take the initiative to marry Jeffry, but I still don't want to see that the bride is you.”

As soon as the words fell, a loud slap was heard.

Lidia looked up in astonishment and saw Pamela running towards the stairs crying.

“Lidia, I won't fight with you for Jeffry, I promise. So, please don't hit me.”

The stairs were very high and a people would be half crippled if they fell down.

Lidia clearly saw the mocking smile on the woman's mouth.

Her whole body was stiff and she watched helplessly as she fell backwards and fell into the arms of Jeffry who was running up in a hurry.

Her heart rose high and then fell heavily.

Mrs. Lester screamed, “Lidia, how dare you push Pamela down the stairs?! Do you want to kill her?”

The two men rushed upstairs and beat Lidia severely.

Jeffry embraced the crying Pamela and walked in front of Lidia, his face looking terrifyingly gloomy.

“Lidia, when did you become so vicious? In order to marry me, do you even don’t care about human life?”

Pamela, who had the slap mark on her face, was terrified. “Lidia, don't hit me. I won't compete with you for Jeffry.”

Jeffry raised his hand and slapped Lidia hard in the face.

The beatings and scoldings from her adoptive parents were not as strong as a slap from him.

Tasting the blood in her mouth, Lidia pulled the corners of her mouth numbly.

She did not even feel like crying. The love of her family and six years of love were not as strong as Pamela’s cunning scheme.

She said nothing and silently allowed the three men to beat and scold her.

It was not until Pamela complained that her feet hurt that Jeffry hugged her and left with a distressed look on his face.

After being kicked out of the Lester Family villa, Lidia limped out.

When there were only a few steps left on the stairs, Mrs. Lester pushed her hard and said that no one could have a daughter as ungrateful as her and that she would cut off all ties with her.

Heavy rain poured down, soaking Lidia like a drowned rat.

She did not know where they had taken the phone. She walked alone in the heavy rain and returned to the villa in a mess.

Lidia developed a high fever that night and Jeffry was nowhere to be seen.

She forced herself to take the medicine and her fever did not subside until the next day.

The next day, Lidia stayed in the villa and dealt with all the things.

Placing the white wedding dress on the bed, she could still think of the day when she tried on the wedding dress, when Jeffry kissed her gently and said that she was the most beautiful bride.

Thinking about it at this moment, there was no ripple in my heart, only the relief of being liberated.

She called a friend to make the final confirmation.

The wedding would not happen, but her gift would still come.

In the evening, Lidia, wearing a hat and sunglasses, met with the most famous media person in the city through the introduction of a friend.

“How much does it cost for exclusive media coverage of the Hopkins Family heir?”

As soon as they met, she put the USB drive on the table.

The other party raised a finger and said, “Since it was introduced by a friend and is related to the Hopkins Family, I am willing to give you 1.5 million.”

“Deal! I have one condition. The news must be broadcasted online at the exact moment the wedding begins tomorrow.”

“No problem.”

***

On the wedding day.

Jeffry sent her a message early in the morning, saying that the makeup team he had arranged would do Pamela's makeup first and asked her to wait after changing into her wedding dress.

Going up the chat box, there were chat records that became increasingly indifferent.

She changed into a mermaid long wedding dress and put on her best makeup.

As the sun rises, she boarded a plane to a foreign country to embrace a new life.
