Chapter 2

He seemed to be fine and he responded to my sister’s requests in various ways, as if he had forgotten that I was standing in front of them.

Relatives knew that we got the certificate today and urged me to post the marriage certificate.

My sister said in the WhatsApp group: [Sorry, I fainted and my sister and Kevin didn’t get the marriage certificate.]

A relative commented: [You shouldn’t be like this! Don’t you have your parents to take care of you? Don’t delay the couple’s marriage certificate! Today is such a good day, it’s a pity to miss it!]

Kevin saw my sister’s eyes red and he was so distressed that he immediately said to the group: [It doesn’t matter what day we get the certificate, our little princess Ivory is the most important!]

My sister hugged Kevin’s arm affectionately and said with a smile, “Kevin treats me the best!”

My parents also came to her, asking about her well-being. The family was happy, but I was like an outsider who didn’t fit in.

I looked away and raised the corners of my lips in self-mockery.

Even unfamiliar relatives stood up for me, but my closest people turned a blind eye.

Originally, considering that my family needed to be taken care of and I was facing marriage, I declined the opportunity for my mentor to invite me to work abroad.

Now it seemed that I was being sentimental.

I left my sister’s room and continued to wash her clothes.

When I finished washing, dinner was already on the table.

Looking around, every dish on the table was spicy, which my sister liked.

I had a bad stomach and I got diarrhea when I ate spicy food, so I just lowered my head and ate rice as usual.

“Why don’t you say anything? Are you angry with me for delaying your marriage certificate? I didn’t mean it, I just had hypoglycemia and there was nothing I could do!”

She looked at me aggrievedly, looking cautious.

If I hadn’t seen her fierce and vicious appearance, I would really believe her hypocritical attitude.

I looked up and said lightly, “I don’t blame you! Maybe God is testing the relationship between me and Kevin!”

Mom snorted coldly and said, “I really don’t understand why you have to choose this day. It’s obvious that your horoscope conflicts with this day, don’t choose it next time.”

Dad and Kevin also agreed.

Next time?

There wouldn’t be a next time for us.

They had always been like this, blaming me for everything.

This day was obviously proposed by my sister.

She said that the number 521 was very romantic and was the most suitable for marriage.

In this family, I had reduced my presence to the minimum, but they were still not satisfied.

My sister’s favorite thing to do was to force my parents to choose between me and her.

She always won.

My sister said again, “Why don’t you eat a single bite of food? This is not okay. Others will think that our whole family is not good to you!”

After that, she “kindly” picked up a lot of food for me and piled it up in my bowl.

“Super delicious, try it!”

Looking at the oily peppers, my stomach churned and I stumbled to the bathroom to vomit.

Since I returned to this family ten years ago, my sister always tricked me into eating peppers.

My stomach was damaged and became very sensitive, but she still refused to let me go.

When I returned to the table, everyone had a gloomy face and blamed me for deliberately spoiling the fun and ruining their appetite.

The food was taken away by the nanny and I didn’t even have rice to eat.

I didn’t argue, I just said, “I won’t do it again.”

In another week, I would be leaving, there was nothing I couldn’t stand.

My mother saw that I was not in the right mood and symbolically said, “If you really don’t want to eat spicy food, don’t eat with us in the future.”

Chapter 3

For ten years, if she had paid any attention to me, she would have known that I couldn’t eat spicy food.

But she only had my sister in her heart.

The four of them sat on the sofa and chatted, just like a close family.

And I returned to the storage room alone.

After a while, a scream came.

“Who cut my strawberry bear? Who?”

My sister rushed downstairs holding the strawberry bear that was cut into pieces, crying bitterly.

My parents and Kevin were panicking.

My father immediately sent Kevin out to buy an identical one. My mother hugged my sister in her arms, wiped her tears and whispered comfort.

They called the nanny to ask.

The nanny glanced at me with a guilty look. “I swear it wasn’t me who cut it!”

My sister raised her tearful eyes and glared at me fiercely. “Emily, it’s you again! It’s you again…”

She rushed over like crazy and strangled my neck fiercely.

“Are you a psychopath? You’ve ruined everything I’ve loved since I was little and you’re so proud of it, aren’t you?”

I couldn’t breathe and my face turned red, but my parents just looked at me coldly, with no intention of stopping me.

They must have thought I cut it.

I was so angry that I broke my sister’s fingers and pushed her.

She fell to the ground and cried even more sadly.

“What? You don’t even bother pretending? Are you bullying me in front of your parents?”

Who was bullying whom?

If I didn’t resist, she would strangle me to death.

My father came over with a dark face and slapped me twice.

“You are the elder sister, how can you do this to your own sister?”

I just pushed her, but it became an unforgivable mistake in the eyes of my parents.

This kind of thing had happened too many times in the past ten years and I had long been numb.

I was too lazy to argue, wiped the blood from the corner of my mouth and turned back to my room.

Kevin came back and after listening to my sister’s confession, he banged on the door and scolded me.

I picked up the remaining piece of drawing paper in the small iron box, feeling sad.

The little girl with a bright smile on it was me.

But in fact, I had not been able to smile since ten years ago.

My mother was in a hurry to give birth to me and my sister, so she invited my grandmother from her hometown.

My sister was crying and making trouble, which took away all my mother’s attention.

Others said that naughty girls would definitely have a bright future and my mother believed it. She asked my grandmother to take me back to her hometown to raise me, on the grounds of limited energy.

When I was three years old and it was time to go to kindergarten, my grandmother sent me back.

My sister saw my mother holding me, crying and rolling around, forcing my grandmother to take me away.

My grandmother’s health was getting worse and worse and my parents didn’t want me, so she had to foster me in the homes of neighbors and relatives.

Every morning, when I woke up, I would first think about whose home I was in.

They were all very nice to me, but they would secretly complain about my parents’ cold-bloodedness.

My parents only took my sister to the countryside to see me once.

My sister was curious about what the countryside was like, so they took her to play in the countryside and take a look at me.

My sister despised me for being unsophisticated and refused to let me hold her hand. She also questioned what qualifications I had to look exactly like her.

My grandmother asked them to take me home again, but they refused again on the grounds of limited energy.

It was not until my grandmother passed away and they returned to their hometown to attend the funeral that they reluctantly let me return to this home.

There were so many rooms in the magnificent three-story villa, but none of them was mine.

I took the initiative to sleep in the storage room.

My parents were obviously relieved.
