Chapter 2
In the ninth grade, when my mom fainted while she was out, Henry's mom, Nora Bell, found her and called 911 for help.
The first thing my mom did after she was discharged from the hospital was to find her savior. At the time, Nora was a street cleaner. To repay her, my mom invited her to work as a housekeeper and brought Henry from his hometown to attend school.
Henry lived at my house. My mom specifically reminded me to be accommodating to him.
I understood the importance of gratitude, so I made sure he enjoyed the same treatment as I did. I gave in to him in everything and indulged him.
To my surprise, our indulgence turned him into a greedy, ungrateful person.
Not only did he take my dad's card and spend recklessly, but he also spread rumors about me, belittling and humiliating me.
This led to my classmates isolating and bullying me, while he, posing as a wealthy young master, enjoyed everyone's admiration and praise.
I thought about explaining, but he used the excuse, "My mom saved your mom's life, so you owe us," to make me give in to him.
I remembered my mom's advice and didn't expose his true identity. I focused entirely on my studies.
But I didn't expect he would secretly instruct girls who liked him to bully me, including his girlfriend, the school beauty Leah Torres.
Leah's dad was the principal, so no one controlled her. She often brought people to corner me in the bathroom and shove my head into the toilet.
She warned me not to make a move on Henry.
At that time, my parents were always working out of town. To avoid worrying them, I didn't tell them about these incidents.
I didn't expect my tolerance to embolden Leah. One time, Henry ordered her to shove my head into the toilet until I suffocated and collapsed before letting me go.
Due to prolonged oxygen deprivation, I became a vegetable and never woke up again.
When my parents went to the school to investigate the culprits, Henry feared he would be found out. He called his mom and had her place confidential documents from a rival company in my dad's study, framing him for plagiarism.
He also teamed up with the rival company to post the incident online, causing my dad's reputation to plummet, the company's stock to crash, and the business to go bankrupt overnight.
While the nurse was away, Henry secretly unplugged my oxygen tube. I died miserably on that hospital bed.
My parents were devastated. It was as if they aged overnight. On their rushed way to the hospital to see me, they were hit and killed by a car driven by someone Henry had hired.
The driver fled the scene and was never caught. Meanwhile, Henry took the money from the rival company. He went abroad to study and lived a happy life with his mom.
My family of three died tragically, while the person responsible for our deaths lived a good life. I could not rest in peace.
Fortunately, the heavens showed mercy and granted me a second chance at life.
This time, I will make sure Henry pays for what he did in blood!
Chapter 3
My dad canceled the card, but Henry didn't know. He even gathered all the classmates' info and started booking flights in front of them using a mobile app.
The classmates were beyond excited. It was their first time traveling abroad, and someone was booking the tickets for them. They were practically treating him like a hero, showering him with endless praise.
"I've never been abroad before. Thank you, Henry, for giving me this opportunity."
"It's such a blessing to be in the same class as Henry. I want to be his classmate in my next life too."
"Yeah, Henry's great. He's rich, generous, and kind. I'm sticking with him from now on."
Henry held his head high, basking in the compliments and admiration. He couldn't hide the smug smile on his face.
"No problem. Stick with me, and you'll be living the good life."
Everyone erupted in excitement, all pledging their loyalty.
I was doing my homework. When I saw Henry looking so smug, I couldn't help but chuckle. I wondered how he would handle the situation when he realized he couldn't pay in front of everyone.
One classmate noticed me and mocked sarcastically, "What are you laughing at? Are you jealous that Henry is nice to us and ignores you?"
"Exactly, you're just the housekeeper's daughter, yet you shamelessly ride Henry's luxury car every day. If it were up to me, I'd have kicked you out long ago."
"Don't book her ticket. She might get jealous of Leah and ruin everyone's mood."
"Yeah, people like her who don't know gratitude and overstep their boundaries shouldn't go. She deserves to stay clueless forever."
Henry waved his hand generously, not at all worried that I might expose him.
"It's fine, one extra ticket won't break the bank."
"Huh, I've been to the Maldives so often that I'm bored. Some people are so hyped. I wonder who's the one who's never seen the world."
Twirling my pen, I smiled. "Yeah, Henry's family is so rich. How could they be short on a little cash?
"Go ahead and pay then. Just don't end up biting off more than you can chew."
Henry didn't get a chance to speak before the other classmates jumped to his defense.
"What a joke! Henry's so rich. The Rolls-Royce he drives to school must cost millions.
"And that Rolex on his wrist? It's worth at least six or seven hundred thousand. There's no way he can't afford these plane tickets.
"I bet she confessed to Henry and got rejected. Now she's just talking nonsense, haha."
Everyone burst into laughter.
"Henry, go ahead and pay in front of her. Show her the real difference between a wealthy heir and a housekeeper's daughter."
Others joined in, "Yeah, make her so ashamed she wants to disappear."
Henry was basking in all the attention.
But what he didn't know was the higher he climbed, the harder the fall.
To humiliate me, Henry even projected his phone screen onto the wall. He smugly waved his black card, entered the account number, and said, "Watch closely. I'm about to pay."
The classmates all craned their necks, holding their breath. Their eyes were fixed on the screen, ready to watch him play and prove me wrong.
I just smiled, calm and composed.
The classroom became eerily quiet, you could hear a pin drop.
Henry entered the password in front of everyone and hit the pay button.
Chapter 4
The payment page kept loading, then it returned to the current page and showed a payment failed message.
Everyone, including Henry, was stunned.
He refused to believe it and clicked several more times, but the result was the same.
"Why can't it go through? Could it be that there's no money?" The classmates gave him strange looks.
Henry panicked. He suddenly realized I must have interfered. With everyone watching, he couldn't confront me directly. He tried to stay calm and explained, "I forgot that I maxed out this card yesterday when I bought a motorcycle. I'll use a new card tomorrow to book it."
As soon as they heard he bought a new motorcycle, everyone's eyes lit up with envy. They believed him without hesitation.
"Oh, so that's it. I knew Henry wouldn't be out of money."
"But I thought black cards have no limit?" I said. That one sentence shattered Henry's calm. His face went pale, and he started trembling.
"Yeah, that's true. Henry should know that, right? Could this black card be fake?" The whole room erupted in whispers.
"No way! I just ordered swimsuits online for our Maldives trip, and they've already shipped. I can't get a refund!"
"Yeah, me too! I've already bragged to my friends that I'm going to the Maldives this weekend. I can't be embarrassed now!"
The classmates turned on Henry, pressing him hard.
"Henry, you better give us an explanation today, or we're not friends anymore."
"Yeah."
Dozens of eyes stared at him intensely. Henry's face turned pale. He bit his lower lip. Beads of sweat the size of peas rolled down his forehead. His usual arrogance was nowhere to be seen.
"I, I..." he stammered, trying to explain. But aside from "I," no other words came out.
Suddenly, his attempts to explain stopped. He closed his eyes and fainted on the spot.
I dropped the pen in my hand, pouting with boredom. "This is no fun at all."
